Will Lippert Pull-Out Steps Work for You?

Pull-out steps are typically installed on travel trailers. The pull-out steps from Lippert are easy to install and fold up underneath the camper for simple storage. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.

Lippert Manual Mounting

The Lippert pull-out steps attach the underside of the camper chassis, directly beneath the doorway. To decide which size you'll need, locate the space available underneath your camper that lines up with the door frame, and measure the width and depth. You will need a mounting space that is at least 27-1/2" wide and 12" deep.

If it turns out you have more or less space beneath your doorway, there are other step assemblies available with bracket sizes ranging from 25-1/2" wide to 28" wide. A full list of the available steps is below.

RV Steps Outriggers

Outriggers - metal brackets that act as an extension (LC301704 - sold separately) - may be needed for installation depending on the model of your original stairs. These provide extra length if the old steps are longer or wider than the new.

Once you know where the mounting bracket will go and what size mounting bracket you need, that spot will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.

How Many Steps Do You Need?

Lippert Manual Entry Height

To determine how many steps you'll need, measure from the mounting point to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, plus 6" to 9" to account for the drop from the bottom step to the ground. This measurement will also tell you how many steps you need.

The chart below displays entry height measurements in the first column. If you determined you need a 25-1/2" mounting bracket, the step part numbers with that width are in the second column. If you determined you need a 25-3/4" mounting bracket, the step part numbers with that width are in the third column. The steps for 27-1/2" mounting bracket widths are in the fourth column, and the steps for 28" mounting bracket widths are in the fifth column. Choose the bracket size that is closest to your measurements without going over.

This page's step assembly is in bold text.

To install the steps:

  1. Make sure the camper is level on flat ground
  2. Lift the steps into the mounting space and prop into place
  3. If needed, mark the mounting holes on the camper and drill

    -Set aside steps before drilling

  4. If needed, install the outriggers
  5. Align step mounting holes and secure in place with bolts and flange lock nuts

-Make sure the bracket is backed up fully against the I-beam on the chassis

    -Hardware not included

  6. Tighten hardware until snug
  7. Make sure assembly is sitting square and level
  8. Torque the hardware to 20 ft-lbs

Lippert Manual Pull-Out Step for RVs - Triple - 7" Drop - 25-3/4" Wide - Steel - 300 lbs - LC432687

Average Customer Rating:  4.8 out of 5 stars   (449 Customer Reviews)

This 8-1/4" deep, triple pull-out RV step opens and closes with just 1 hand. Anti-skid tread tape and water collection channels on step surface provide safe entry and exit. Bolts or welds onto your RV frame. Rust-resistant black powder coat.

We have sold the RV that I had purchased the steps for and just hung onto them. The RV that we replaced it with has a little better steps so I haven't installed the Solid Step on this one. I still may do it but this RV is a little higher off the ground so I don't know if the 3 step unit is going to be tall enough. The Lippert Solid Step is definitely an upgrade for anyone that has the manual pull out steps on their unites.

We have not used the steps on our newer 5th wheel because the steps are about a 14 too wide for the doorway. I still would recomend the Solid Step for anyone wanting to to upgrade their entrance steps. They are have a greater tread depth than most standard steps. They are more stable seeing as they are contacting the ground.

It was exactly what I needed. Everything lined up and was easily installed. The only suggestion I would have is to package differently. There were a few dings and scratches on the steps. Bubble wrap or putting the box in a box would have prevented that.

The product was excellent and an exact match to what was already on the travel trailer. 5 stars to etrailer and great service.

Since my last review of this product, due to an accident, I have purchased another set. Installation was simple and the steps work great.

Amazing product and outstanding service. I could not be happier.

I had not seen a set of LCI fold up stairs installed on a step van and George was a lot of help with info I needed. I purchased a used set in case it didn't work and they turned out perfect.

These are really well built stairs. There are different configurations, so make sure this exactly matches the bracket on your RV. I had to do some customization, but it was worth it because the other stair options didn't feel as solid as this.

Great product easy to install and real sturdy

The steps are fine, but the 5 stars are for your customer service! I really appreciated the free shipping - as the item is HEAVY - and the speed of the delivery! Sadly, now I have to sit in the snow and repair my camper… . Perhaps I will wait for spring. Thank you!

The steps are a perfect fit…the only complaint I have is that the middle step has a dent in it…are you willing to give me a credit or would you rather send a replacement set. N

steps are working fine! My wife and I struggled to get it up into position but managed it with a floor jack. We are older, 73 and 80, so if we could do the install I would think you can too.

I bought a used fifth wheel that had a broken step on it, so I googled my trailers info and came up with the part number and price, ordered it and got it in four days and in a half hours time with my wife’s help we had it installed using a couple blocks of wood and 2x4.
It feels nice and safe now.

Product works as expected and was delivered on time.

Exactly what I needed, at a reasonable price. Delivered earlier than stated. Replaced the steps on my travel trailer, and they were an exact match!!

The stairs we ordered are high quality and fit perfectly! The only issue we ran into was the recommended bolt size provided in the instructions ended us being slightly to long and didn't fit, so we had to use the original bolts. Other than that, all went well!

The steps were exactly as described. Easy to install and a perfect fit on my 2006 Montana 3400RL 5th wheel. Shipping was fast and free.

Perfect replacement steps for our travel trailer. Website provided great information to take guess work out of measurements to find a perfect fit.

After a year we could not be happier with the steps, easy to install, folds very easy, very sturdy.

We have a bunkhouse Cruiser Aire. My wife had polio as a young girl and has problems getting up and down stairs, She is 72 and it became near impossible for her to access the RV. I built her some stairs from lumber and they worked alright, But it also gave me some added chores with a lot of straining to move them from the back to the door for her at every stop. I was absolutely surprised when I discovered the lippert steps with the shorter 6.5" rise. Believe me rise in steps is extremely important to handicapped people. These new steps have given new meaning to access for her. We are very happy we found Lippert steps through E-Trailer! We are going to buy another set next year for the rear door of the trailer. Great customer service and fast shipping! Glad your here!

Very nice!

Perfect Fit!

Not that same quality as before. Shop for different brand. I bought two sets of steps from e-trailer a few years ago. When one got damaged I recently ordered another to replace it. The quality and appearance of the new set is not at all the same as the older ones. I suspect that most of the good reviews are for the older item. The new one has paint than looks like it came out of a spray can, armature looking welds, thinner weaker looking grab handles that look like they were bent by hand in someone's garage. I am very disappointed in the quality and disappointed that I could not get a set of steps that match the ones still on my other door.

Aside from that they work and fit in place of the old ones just fine. But given the quality they are about double the price they are worth and not something I really want on my RV but I feel like I am stuck with them now.

We ordered new steps from etrailer for our 5th wheel when the metal tore on one side of our existing steps. We had done our homework - checked others sites. The difference - etrailer had the replacement steps in stock at a better price than most and answered my questions. The steps arrived as promised. Instructions were clear and the install was easy. I was able to do it without help.

The steps on the 2014 Winnebago travel trailer had rusted-out due to the spring-loaded pieces of grey non skid carpet always being wet in the stowed position. This replacement was a very simple bolt in with a good fitting bolt pattern and easy fold out operation. Of course you should stay on top of it with a little touch-up paint here and there cuz it's going to want the rust in the hinges and wear points but that is to be expected. Good product and I would recommend it

Very good product and very strong. Fast shipping. Had to make some modifications, but I was expecting that. They do hang down a little more than I expected but should be fine. Thanks for a great product

These steps worked perfect for our camper. The bottom step on ours broke and we needed to replace them. I was brought to this site after a search and found their instructions AND diagram of how to measure were extremely helpful. we found what we needed, placed the order and the steps were here within days. They are already on our camper. Great service and helpful information. Will definitely look back here when we need something else.

Found the steps at my door when we returned from camping on the Oregon coast. After unloading the trailer I spent an hour installing the new steps, easy peasy .Fit was right on. Great replacement. Thanks to Kim P. for finding a replacement item for the original no longer made steps. Wonderful service.

Nice solid step system! Replaced a 2 step 9-1/2 inch rise set and what a great upgrade! Great product, price & fast shipping.

Michael B - 07/17/2019

In our instance it was not just a bolt on install. Had to make some brackets for my travel trailer to attach the steps to, but since I am a sheet metal worker it was a fairly easy task.

Love the steps, very easy to use. Will probably have to put a bungie cord across the step when folded up to keep it from coming down with vibration and any bumps. It may not be necessary but just as a precaution.
