Kwikee 372261 Update 2020

Kwikee 372261 Update (2) 2020

Lippert 261 Dims Part 2 (3)

Kwikee electric RV entry steps provide an effortless, convenient way to enter and exit your RV. The steps are wired to your RV's door and feature an automatic extension, unfolding when the door opens and retracting when it closes. This differentiates the steps from the alternate manual pull-out steps.

Motor, Gearbox, Linkage, Control Unit, and Switch Kit

The updated Kwikee steps manufactured since 1999 require the integrated motor, gearbox, and linkage (IMGL) setup to power the steps. The motor provides the power, the gearbox turns the linkage arm, and the linkage pushes the steps out and pulls them back in when rotated by the gearbox.

The motor powers the control unit, which senses when the RV door opens and closes, extending and retracting the steps in tandem. The switch kit - consisting of 2 magnetic sensor pieces that mount to the door and doorframe, and 1 rocker switch - works with the control unit. When the sensor pieces come in to contact with each other, the steps are pushed out or pulled in. You can override the automatic retraction with the rocker switch. This will lock the steps in the extended position.

The included 4-way plug fits into the existing wiring harness on your RV. Most vehicles should have this wiring already set up. In the even that your RV is missing the wiring, a 4-way pigtail is included to help you hardwire the unit to your RV.

Safety Features

The Kwikee steps include several safety features in an effort to prevent injury to you or your passengers and damage to the RV steps. If an obstruction is detected while extending, the steps will halt and retract back into the stowed position. The steps will also retract when you turn on the vehicles ignition, even if the automatic retraction override has been activated, in case you forget to stow them before driving away.

Will Kwikee Electric Steps Work for You?

Electric steps are typically installed on RVs and some travel trailers. The electric steps from Kwikee install and fold up underneath the camper for simple storage. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.

Kwikee In and Out

The Kwikee electric steps attach to the underside of the camper chassis, directly beneath the doorway. To decide which size you'll need, locate the space available underneath your camper that lines up with the doorframe, and measure the width and depth. You will need a mounting space that is at least 23-3/4" wide and 11-3/8" deep.

If it turns out you have more or less space beneath your doorway, there are other step assemblies available with bracket sizes ranging from 24-1/2" wide to 36-3/4" wide. A full list of the available steps is below.

Outriggers for RV Steps

Outriggers - metal brackets that act as an extension (LC301704 - sold separately) - may be needed for installation depending on the model of your original stairs. These provide extra length if the old steps are longer or wider than the new.

Once you know where the mounting bracket will go and what size mounting bracket you need, that spot will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.

How Many Steps Do You Need?

Kwikee Entry Height

To decide on how many steps you'll need, measure from the mounting point to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, plus 6" to 8" to account for the drop from the bottom step to the ground. This measurement will also tell you how many steps you need.

The chart below displays mounting bracket widths in the first column and entry height measurements in the second column. The third column shows the corresponding part numbers. Use the mounting bracket width and entry height measurements you took to determine which part number will fit your RV. Choose the bracket size that is closest to your measurements without going over.

I used these steps on my 2006 Phaeton MH. These are same as the original so there was no problem replacing them. The old ones had a broken arm on the retracting scissor works. Etrailer had the best price of anywhere that I could purchase them. 875592

We needed a specific size Kwikee step for the Motor Home and that is exactly what I got. We ordered from another company and they sent us the wrong Kwikee 32 series step. Way to go etrailer. YOU MADE MY DAY! 870953

This replaced the original steps on my 2007 Damon MH, which were damaged. Installation was moderately difficult due to the weight of the unit. I used a floor jack to support the opened stairs for removal and installation. The electric connection matched the existing wiring. I only needed to replace the magnetic door switch with the one included, and relocate the ground connection to the coach frame. I was pleased to see that the yellow light is on a timer, and that the unit will retract when the battery switch is in the "store" position. 831269

I originally tried to rebuild the step and wasted time and money. The step was ten years old and just had to go. The replacement had a better mechanical design and I look forward to more than ten years service. etrailer.com was excellent with a good price rapid delivery. I went back to etrailer for my tow bar. 808255

It came with all the bolts and wiring harness I did not have to purchase anything else I mounted it on a 2008 Georgetown MH in one afternoon by myself. I did spend the day before getting the tools necessary. The most important step in the whole process is raising it up level to mate with the MH studs. It helps to have the MH level and on solid ground. All the plugs were correct and the door magnets were easy to mount. Everything worked on my first test and it has worked perfectly for a year now. Local rv dealers wanted 4-500$ and they had a waiting list. etrailer shipped on time with plenty of directions that even I could understand. 791350

The motorized steps were a perfect fit in my 1997 motor home. Wiring had been torn up on the old steps making it difficult to figure out the right connections to attach. The etrailer associates were very helpful in getting the right person to help me figure out what the previous owner had done to the wiring. I have recommended etrailer to other people because of the quality of the product and excellent help they were during the installation of the steps. 735992

Yes I received my new steps today they look great. The tracking info was great, the prompt shipping, the day I order it was shipped the same day. I love that kind of service. SINGLE STEP CONVERSION TO A DOUBLE STEP 1999 ULTIMATE FREEDOM 40' MOTOR HOME ( WINNEBAGO) My coach had the single step 28 series, I order the 32 series two step. My coach always seamed like it needed another step. Very difficult when the airbags are in the normal or driving mode for my wife to get in and out of the coach. So I ordered the double step and I installed it today. The 28 series as a 22 inch by 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern the 32 series as a 22 inch by 8 inch bolt pattern. In which I knew when I order it. But when it got here the 32 series as bolt pattern for both 8 inch and 6 1/2 so I installed it set back about 2 inches to far back. So I drilled a 8 inch bolt pattern on my coach (very simply modification). After the slight modification to my coach it was a perfect fit. The bottom step is 8 inches off the ground, when the bags are fully deflated the bottom step is clearing the ground by about 1 inch. The single step 80 percent of the time was always to high. So I carried a portable step made for RV's. I will very seldom have to use it now. On the rare occasion if the step hits the ground on a steep incline then I may leave the steps in the close position and use the portable step. I want to thank again the staff at etrailer.com for the prompt service and the very good price, believe I shopped for a good price and your price was the best I found, thanks again. Very Happy customer 705233

Our old power entrance steps for our motor home gave up while on our summer travels. We called Lippert Components for help with replacement power steps. They gave us the part number information but didn't have any in stock. They recommended we calling etrailer. At etrailer we talked with Ian who confirmed they had the steps in stock. We further explained that timing was important and he made sure that the steps where shipped to the correct RV service center on time! Thanks Ian. 690039
