Yakima 8002480 Holdup EVO 2 Bike Rack Loaded

The Yakima HoldUp EVO is a premium, tray-style bike rack that lets you carry 2 bikes using your vehicle's hitch. This rack is specifically designed to carry bikes with big tires and wide handlebars, but it will carry just about any bike, including those with wheels from 20" to 29", carbon frames, disc brakes, thru axles, or full suspensions. You can quickly tilt or fold the rack with the KickStart foot pedal and easy-access tilt handle, saving time when accessing gear or loading bikes. The locking SpeedKnob makes installation and removal of the rack a painless process.

Wheel-Mount Design for Easy Bike Loading

Yakima 8002480 Holdup EVO Bike Rack Large Front Wheel Holders

The HoldUp EVO is easy to load, even if your bikes have monster wheels. The deep, contoured front wheel cradles accommodate just about any wheel out there, and the pivoting arms with StrongArm technology ensure that your bikes are held firmly in place.

Yakima 8002480 Holdup EVO Bike Rack Front Wheel Secured

To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the holder, rotate the pivoting arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook. To release the hook, simply press the built-in gray button and slide the hook up and off your wheel.

Yakima 8002480 Holdup EVO Adjustable Rear Wheel Holders

Large rear wheel holders allow the HoldUp EVO to accommodate a wide variety of bike wheelbases. These wheel holders pivot front to back, adjusting automatically to your wheel size - no need for sliding and tightening. Secure the wheels in place with the ratcheting straps built into each holder.

Yakima HoldUp EVO Ratcheting Arm No Frame Contact

Mounting bikes by the wheels helps prevent any scratches or scuffs to the paint. The ratcheting hooks are padded, however, so they won't mark your wheels. And the pivot mechanisms in the arms are overbuilt to ensure they keep functioning smoothly over a lifetime of hard use.

Fully Adjustability Bike Trays

Yakima 8002480 Holdup EVO Adjustable Trays

The wheel trays on the HoldUp EVO are fully adjustable to ensure that you have all the space you need when mounting bikes with mammoth handlebars, such as a 29er. To adjust a wheel tray, loosen the 4 bolts where the tray attaches to the rack base and slide the tray left or right to achieve the desired spacing. Retighten the bolts and you're ready to roll with optimum handlebar clearance and no fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

Yakima 8002480 Holdup EVO Bike Rack Built-in Cable Locks

The HoldUp EVO has a cable lock built into the end of each pivoting arm. These cables loop through your bike frames and attach to posts on the bike rack arms to secure your bikes in place. The cables store in the arms when not in use.

Yakima 8002480 Holdup EVO Bike Rack SpeedKnob Anti-Wobble System

The SpeedKnob makes the installation process fast and easy. Once you have the hitch pin in place, simply turn the knob to secure the rack within your hitch receiver. As you tighten the knob it activates the anti-rattle wedge within the rack's shank to reduce noise and movement of the rack while mounted. It also has a built-in SKS lock to keep the rack anchored in place so you won't need to fumble around with a hitch lock.

The cable locks and SpeedKnob include keyed-alike Same Key System (SKS) lock cores. These cores can be swapped out to make all your Yakima products keyed alike.

Tilting Design and Compact Storage

Yakima HoldUp EVO KickStart Foot Pedal

When you're ready to hit the road, the spring-loaded KickStart foot pedal at the base or the rack allows you to quickly position it for loading bikes. Simply step down on the pedal and lower the rack into position.

Yakima 8002480 Holdup EVO Bike Rack Tiled for Rear Cargo Access

A spring-loaded lever conveniently located behind the bike trays can be used to tilt the rack down another 20 degrees for easier loading of bikes. The tilting feature can also be used when the rack is fully loaded, so that you can gain access to your vehicle's rear cargo area without having to unload your bikes.

Yakima 8002480 Holdup EVO Bike Rack Folded for Storage

When you are ready to store the rack, use the same lever to easily fold the rack up against the rear of your vehicle. First rotate the front wheel holders inward and tilt the rear wheel holders inward, then rotate the pivot arms down and use the ratcheting hooks to secure the arms to the rear wheel holders. Once the arms are in place, pull back on the lever and fold the rack up against your vehicle.

Purchased with Draw-tite 24763 (Class I, 1 1/4 in hitch receiver) for installation to a 2011 Honda Civic sedan. The online assistant (Mckenzie ?) was very helpful in walking me through some questions which I had prior to placing an order. One of the reasons why I selected etrailer for this transaction is the experience which the organization can claim regarding various combinations of hitch receivers and bicycle racks. I was well-pleased with the online assistance prior to purchase. Assembly was straightforward and easy. 757580

I purchased this rack after extensive research and have been using it regularly for several months. I am very pleased with this purchase as it has provided exactly what I was looking for in a bike rack. The reasons I purchased this rack (in no particular order) were: price, features, and that it could carry a bike weighing as much as 50lbs (needed for an e-bike). etrailer's web site info is excellent and helpful as were the staff when I had a question. The rack is heavy (but needs to be for what it is designed to do), so taking it on and off the car requires the ability to carry and maneuver a bulky and cumbersome object. Getting bikes on and off this rack could not be easier. Be sure to take it easy driving over bumps because I did shake a bike loose from the rack once; that experience is consistent with info on the e-trailer web site. Other than that the bikes ride very securely, including at highway speeds. 854126

Review from a similar HoldUp EVO in RV and Camper Bike Racks

Overall very impressed with quality of the bike rack. The only issue I have is with my long wheel base Fat bike. It wants to rock out of the front tire cradle because the back tire is past the rack and the weight of the bike pushes it rearward. To solve it I have to bungee the rear tire to the bike rack frame pulling it to the front. You can see the green bungee in my picture. This does not happen with my wife’s bike. This is mounted on a 2016 Yukon. With the rack tipped pack you can lift the gate about 3/4 of the way to access the rear area. Etrailer shipped super fast. 543175

Review from a similar HoldUp EVO in RV and Camper Bike Racks

I assembled and installed the rack at a leisurely pace. It took a little while to get the spine bolt properly aligned, but once I got past that the rest of the installation went quickly. I’m guessing it was about half an hour from start to finish and a good bit of that was unpacking the rack and all its hardware. Mounting my beach cruiser was easy. I road-tested everything and I’m very happy with this purchase. The advice I got from Kyle at etrailer was excellent and follow up has been great. 517147

Review from a similar HoldUp EVO in RV and Camper Bike Racks

The Yakima EVO rack works great. It holds the bikes securely and is easy to load and unload. The rack is well built and a little on the heavy side. (very sturdy) The rack is easy to install and remove from my car, but I have not decided on a good way to store the rack when it is not in use. I have used the rack on several long trips at interstate speeds and the rack and bikes are very secure with no bouncing or swaying. 725909

Review from a similar HoldUp EVO in RV and Camper Bike Racks

Reasonably quick delivery from etrailer, no issues there. The rack arrived in decent shape (boxes weren't destroyed), and assembly of the 2-place rack and the add-on only took ~1 hour. I am somewhat concerned that the cross-bars where you attach the trays that hold the bicycles are welded to the underside of the rack. Seems it would be much stronger if it were welded on top. I'm hoping the 4 bolts that hold these on will hold up over time - I had my last bike rack for 20+ years, we'll see if these can go the distance. 557050

As long as the rack is assembled and used according to the instructions, the rack is covered by a limited lifetime warranty. Yakima does a very good job of standing behind their products.

The products are good, ordering the parts were easy but the packaging was a little rough. I purchased a bike rack and two bearing buddy bras that they stuffed inside the rack box, need less to say they were crushed in shipping. The bra's are soft plastic and are still okay to use but the packing was wasted. 547465

I received the Yakima bike rack just yesterday so have not used it yet. I will be using the rack for a Giant eBike and a Trek roadbike. Everything in my dealings with etrailer was very smooth. I even received the shipment a day early. Brendan was very professional and good to work with. I would recommend etrailer for your bike rack needs. 546334

Fast shipping easy to put together. Nice and tight in hitch 2". Loaded bikes on rack and fit with no problems 1 full suspension 29" tires and 1 with 26" wheels no problem adjusting rack. have not used yet will update after a couple of trips. 543478

It is still holding up. Had a couple of issues that Yakima fixed. One was the rear tire holder fell off the pins that hold the holder were on recall. The other was the front tire holder the one that comes down the the tire. The shims that keep it from binding got stuck and cause the shims to break. Yakima fixed this as well. Over all love the bike rack. The best part is the wife can put her bike on the rack by herself with no problems. Do not have the 26 inch tire bike anymore. She got a 27.5 x 2.8 with full suspension and it fits no problem. Would recommend to others.

Have yet to install but wanted to comment on the great customer service. Initially was sent the wrong item. When I contacted the seller they immediately responded by sending the correct hitch and a prepaid return label. Additional, they lived up to their competitive price policy and gave me credit when I found the same item at a lower price. Fantastic customer service. Check back later for hitch review. 509929

Ask the Experts about this Yakima RV and Camper Bike Racks

  • Is Yakima HoldUp EVO 2 Bike Rack Compatible with 1-1/4 Hitch on 2013 Honda CR-V
Yes and yes! The Yakima HoldUp EVO # Y02480 is compatible with any 1-1/4 hitch receiver (Class I and II), like the Curt # C11555 and Draw-Tite # 36520. If the hitch on your 2013 Honda CR-V is a factory hitch, as long as it's not recessed more than 9 inches behind the bumper ( which is unlikely), it will fit without a problem. Because the HoldUp EVO secures your bikes by the wheels, the frame of your bikes won't make a difference, so it can easily accommodate bikes with step through or...

  • Is There a 2 inch Hitch Version of the Yakima HoldUp Platform Bike Rack
Yakima has a 2 inch hitch version of the HoldUp with part # Y02479. Since this is the hitch size you have this would be the part number you'd want. We also have a 4 bike version of the HoldUp with part # Y02479-2.

  • Recommendation to Transport Fat Tire e-Bike with Class I Trailer Hitch
The best option we have available is with the Thule T1 1-Bike Platform Rack # TH9041. This is an excellent 1-bike rack that can support up to 5" tires, but it does have a weight capacity of 65 pounds. This actually represents the highest-rated rack we have that's also compatible with the Class I hitch on your elantra. I recommend checking to see if removing the battery drops the RadRover's weight enough to put it under this limit, otherwise your only other option would be to use a small...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for E-Bike with Fat Tires and Fenders That Fits on 1-1/4" Hitch Receiver
I have a solution for you, but the Yakima HoldUp EVO # Y02480 is not going to allow you to mount the hooks to the frame of a bike- there isn't a way to get the hook past the handlebar post to attach it to the frame in this case. We do have bike racks designed specifically designed for fat tire e-bikes though that would be a much better solution. For a platform rack that fits on 1-1/4" receivers and can also carry fat tire e-bikes that have fenders, I recommend using the Saris Freedom...

  • Can the Yakima HoldUp EVO be Used with Class I Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Chevy Cruze
The Yakima HoldUp EVO # Y02480 is an excellent bike rack that I believe you'd be happy with but I do have to say that it is 50 lbs. When I looked up the online version of the owner's manual for your 2013 Chevy Cruze it stated that the max trailer weight for your vehicle is 1,000 lbs and that the max tongue weight is 10% of that (100 lbs). So even if you're using the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11282 which has a 200 lb tongue weight rating, you are limited to the 100 lbs. If your bikes don't weigh...

  • Using Yakima HoldUp EVO for 1-1/4” Hitches on a 2” Hitch Receiver
I definitely have some options so that you can use your Yakima Hold-Up EVO Bike rack # Y02480, but the reason Yakima does not recommend using an adapter with this bike rack is because most hitch adapters reduce the weight capacity of your hitch by half. An example of that is this Curt Hitch Adapter # C45770 that not only makes your hitch smaller to fit 1-1/4" accessories, but it also extends out by 4" if you need extra length for clearance issues. The drawback is your weight capacity is...

In order to use the Yakima HoldUp EVO 2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" Hitches # Y02480 with a 2" trailer hitch receiver you will actually need to swap out the current tongue with part # 8880826. The HoldUp doesn't have provisions for an adapter like some other bike racks do so this is the only safe way to get it to fit. If you were to use any other kind of adapter then that would void the warranty on your bike rack per Yakima.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2019 Mini Countryman to Carry Bike Rack
It is true! There are actually a pair of trailer hitches that will fit your 2019 Mini Countryman, the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11522 and the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch # 306-X7387, so long as your '19 Countryman is not the John Cooper Works model. Of the two I recommend the EcoHitch because it has a 2 inch receiver which means it is going to be compatible with many more styles of bike racks than the 1-1/4 inch Class I Curt hitch. Additionally, you will only be able to use a Class I bike...

It sounds like you have a factory Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch on the 2019 Subaru Forester. This stops accessories from fitting that are not Class I to keep users from exceeding the low tongue weight of the hitch. Realistically the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11407 and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24931 that fit your 2020 Infiniti Q50 have only very slight differences, but I would go with the Curt for a couple different reasons. One of which is that the Curt has brackets which angle in a bit more, which means a slightly shorter tube so less is going to show. The Curt also has a collar around the receiver and the Draw-Tite does not. This is going to give it an added layer of protection...
