Versatile E-Bike Rack for Your RV

Swagman E-Spec

5th Wheels, motorhomes, and travel trailers have different suspensions than standard commuter vehicles. The E-Spec is designed to handle the extra bounce and sway that results from being placed further away from your vehicle's rear axle. It also gives your bikes 5" higher clearance than most other RV-rated platform racks. The E-Spec is constructed with reinforced steel, so it will easily carry 2 e-bikes that weigh up to 70 lbs each. But it's not just for your RV. You can also install it in the 2" hitch on your car, truck, or SUV.

Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Padded Locking Hooks

The E-Spec's mast has a pair of ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes securely by the top tube. And because they move independently, you can carry bikes of different shapes and sizes. The hooks have soft padding that won't scratch or scuff your bike's paint.

Sliding Wheel Cradles

Adjustable Wheel Trays

The wheel cradles slide to accommodate bikes with different wheelbases. Hand knobs let you release the cradles to slide along the bike tray and adjust for your specific bike lengths. Each cradle has a ratcheting strap so you can secure your bikes' wheels during transport. If you need to carry fat bikes, there are cradles (sold separately) that let you carry bikes with tires up to 5" wide.

Folding Design

Swagman E-Spec Folding Design

You can fold the mast down for access to your rear cargo area. Just pull the spring-loaded release lever at the base of the mast and fold it down. You can also fold the rack up against your vehicle for storage. Pull the pin at the base of the rack, fold it up against your vehicle, and reinsert the pin in the hole at the bottom of the rack.

Complete Security

Threaded Locking Hitch Pin

The ratcheting hooks have lock cores in the release buttons so you can secure your bikes to the rack. Simply slide the hooks over your bikes' top tubes until they click and lock them in place. There is also a keyed-alike locking hitch pin that secures the rack to your vehicle.

It’s a really nice bike rack for our RV. I’m a fan of all the security features along with how firmly the bike are cradled.

Swagman EBike carrier was delivered promptly, all the parts were there, the directions were complete - with English words, not just confusing icons. Our pictures don't show EBikes. We wanted to make sure that the front of vehicle location would allow them to fit.....Now we will order our new bikes. I've always been a fan of Swagman with their attention to detail and good fitting, well engineered design.

We are putting this rack on the back of our Honda C-RV which will be flat towed behind our motor home. This rack was very reasonably priced and fits our needs exactly. We will be carrying two RAD power eBikes. They each weigh 68 lbs each. This rack is rated to hold two 70 lib bikes. We did have to buy fat tire cradles to accommodate our tires. That was an extra $50 per bike. This is NOT etrailers policy, it’s the way the Swagman Company does it. It would be nice if you could have a choice of cradle depending upon the bike you want to carry. However, the rack is SOLID, the quality is outstanding and it was easy to put together. The eTrailer video was helpful in determining the best way to unload and load the bikes. After a test drive with the bikes loaded on, we could not feel any sway and the car did not seem burdened by the extra weight. We think we made a great investment because the rack is so much easier than folding the bikes (yes, they fold into a little square) to load into a car. The pictures were taken before we realized that we can fold the handlebars down. That will make it much easier to put the cover on them and make the profile lower. We ARE happy.

Rack was delivered early in time for us to take on our camping trip. Assemble was straight forward however I encountered a few challenges when putting our 2 e-bike on it. I’d wanted to put my fat tire bike on the inside since it is considerably heavier than my wife’s Trek. Unfortunately the handlebar of my bike touched the rear window of my 5th wheel so I had to switch positions. To get the hooks to fit properly I had to switch the long and shorts hooks. When all was done, everything worked great. I did try to fold up the rack but couldn’t get the pin to come through. I didn’t want to force it so I’ll work on that problem when I get back home.

by:

This is an awesome rack, seems solid. The only drawback for me is the wheel holders do not fit 4" wide tires on E-Bikes. I wonder if the company offers wider tire holders with longer straps.

We mounted our bike rack today on our truck. It was easy to put together and mount, with some easy adjustments we have our two fat tire ebikes loaded and ready to go. It is a very sturdy bike rack and we feel confident in traveling with our bikes

It took 4 1/2 months to get this product and I have not opened the box yet, because a few months ago I ordered another e bike rack which we have used.I was most impressed with Danielle H. who helped me decide which rack to purchase and she kept me informed of delays in it's manufacture. I was involved in an accident with my bike and when I recover the wounds to my leg, I will put this rack together. I am sure it will be just fine as all the merchandise that I have ordered from etrailer.com has lived up to their advertisements.

- S94FR
by:

While the rack only took a few minutes to attach to the car, it took a good half hour to adjust everything for our oversized electric bikes. However, the second time we put them on to go for a ride it took just a few minutes to put each bike on and then take off when we got to our destination. I never felt nervous about the bike while on the rack and it did not bounce or shake while traveling on the freeway. We are very happy with the purchase.

Ordered this for our flat towed Jeep behind our coach. Very well built rack. Only disappointment is that we have to remove our spare from the back of the Liberty in order to use it.

- S94FR
by:

Very satisfied with product. Assembly very easy with basic tools . Fits our Ebikes well, just need cross bar on step through bike. Waiting for warm weather to actually test product.

- S94FR

Well packaged. It would be nice if they had a fat tire version so I didn’t have to spend more for the fat tire wheel holders

Bike rack was easy to assemble, works well and is very solid for E bikes. Good value compared to other brands. Inventory immediately available and ships vs other vendors having longer lead times and no inventory. Etrailer website easy to use, has lots of detailed information and videos of each item. Customer service and shipping responded timely and accurately to my order. Very pleased with Etrailer.

The rack is solidly built and went together easily and seems like it will work well. very solid. When I push or move the rack, the whole SUV moves, so it is very tight. However, if you have an ebike with a rectangular frame, you cannot lock the hooks since the frame blocks the key access. I managed to lock my bike in and could not release it until I moved the wheel trays away from the tires. Luckily the wheel trays don't fit fat tire bikes with tires greater than 3 inches so my bike dropped when the tray was moved so that I could access the lock without having to actually take the bike off of the rack (I have ordered a set of wider trays that will fit 4 inch tires). This approach of removing a bike that is locked in will probably work if someone is trying to take your bike off the rack to steal it as well, since nothing locks the wheel trays in place (there is just a knob that you tighten by hand). So once they are move away there in nothing holding the tires. I would suggest additional security measures if you are in an area where you are concerned about bike thieves. That said I don't think there are any racks on the marke that provide a lot of security. The primary purpose for me is to carry two heavy E-Bikes on my SUV or on my motorhome. This rack is RV rated, carries the weight and is well built. If not for the lock issue and the ease of moving the wheel trays, I would give it 5 Stars. Definitely a solid 4.

I really like the rack but be careful when torquing down the handles for the tire holders. Mine cracked but Swagman promptly sent new ones. My 2.7” tire fit but would like to see the holders a bit wider. Overall I think it’s the best RV ebike rack out there. Thumbs up!

After upgrading to e-bikes, I ordered from etrailer, the Swagman E-Spec Electric 2-Bike Rack for 2” hitch. This was to replace the lighter weight 2-bike Swagman rack (also purchased from etrailer??) on my 2017 Honda Ridgeline pickup. The rack arrived via UPS on time and in perfect condition! I was amazed at the quality of packaging Swagman utilizes. No styrofoam!! All parts were separated, cushioned and secured from movement by die-cut cardboard pieces that would make an origami instructor proud!! Un-boxing was effortless. Provided assembly instructions were clear and complete. From a previously viewed etrailer video, I opted to first place the bike rack’s 2” shank into the receiver on my truck and assemble the rack in place. Assembly took around 30 minutes! Mounted on the truck the rack looks great!! In the “folded-up” position, you can still partially open the Ridgeline’s bi-opening tailgate. But use caution to prevent scratching the tailgate’s paint on the steel wheel supports. It’s much easier to just pull the locking pin, rotate the rack down to the “carry” position, do your tailgate stuff, then lift the rack back up and re-pin it to be on your way. With the Swagman rack down in the “carry” position, and the vertical j-hooks’ mast laying horizontal, you can lower the Ridgeline’s tailgate, or use it’s swing-opening feature without fear of striking or scraping paint. My rating of etrailer’s offering of the Swagman E-Spec Electric 2-Bike rack is 12 out of 10 Stars!!!

I purchased the Swagman E-Spec electric bike rack to use on back of our fifth wheel. My wife and I went on our first trip to Cape Cod this past weekend and the rack worked as advertised. Things I liked about the rack are; easy to assemble, easy to load our two hybrid bikes, RV approved if you use the additional bolt, bikes are very secure on the rack, and one key locks the bikes plus the hitch bolt. So far, I'm very satisfied with the rack after one trip.

  • Least Expensive Way to Carry Two 75 Lb Electric Bikes on 2016 Ram 1500
I have a suggestion for you, but unfortunately, we're not going to have a hitch mounted bike rack for electric bikes that's going to fit into your budget. Most of our e-bike racks max out at 60 lbs per bike, so your least expensive options are going to be either the Swagman E-Spec # S94FR, with a capacity of 70 lbs per bike, or the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY74FR, with a capacity of 80 lbs per bike -- both over budget. It takes a special kind of bike rack to be approved for mounting on a 5th wheel. The suspension on RVs, motorhomes, and 5th wheelers are different compared to a car. Also, there is more road stress, bounce, and sway on the back of these vehicles. Bike racks need to be designed to handle this road stress to be approved for 5th wheel applications, which the Yakima HoldUp # Y02443 unfortunately is not.
