Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

The XTC-2 Tilt's mast has a pair of ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes securely by the top tube. And because they move independently, you can carry bikes of different shapes and sizes. The hooks have soft padding that won't scratch or scuff your bike's paint.

Sliding Wheel Hoops

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

The rack has wheel hoops that provide a stable base for mounting your bikes. Each hoop has a hand knob that lets you easily slide it along the tray to accommodate your bike's wheelbase. It also includes a rubber strap on each hoop that secures your bike's wheels to the rack. If you need to carry fat bikes, there are hoops (sold separately) that let you carry bikes with tires up to 5" wide.

Folding, Tilting Design

tilting design

A spring-loaded release lever in the base of the rack lets you tilt the rack with bikes loaded for cargo area access.

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike CarrierSwagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

You can fold the mast down for easy access to your hatch. Simply pull the pin at the base of the mast and fold it down in either direction. You can also fold the trays up against the mast for storage. Just pull the pins at the junctions where the trays meet the rack, fold the trays up, and reinsert the pins into the provided holes.

Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin and Removable Adapter Sleeve

Adapter Sleeve

The rack includes a threaded hitch pin and a clip that work with a built-in anti-wobble device in the shank to eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. You can replace the pin and clip with an anti-rattle lock (sold separately) to secure the bike carrier to your vehicle. It also has a removable aluminum sleeve that lets you convert the rack for use in 1-1/4" hitches.

I bought my first Swagman bike rack about ten years ago. It still works fine. When I saw Swagman now has a tilt model, I decided to buy one because we have two vehicles that have big doors on the back that can't be accessed without a rack that tilts. So now I use the old Swagman on my Toyota Landcruiser that has clam shell doors on the back and the new Swagman XTC-2 TILT 2-Bike Platform Rack for the other two cars. Both racks work great-easy to put on and off and easy loading and unloading my bikes. I believe the Swagman is the best two-bike hitch on the market

First time using a bike rack. Easy to follow instructions and setting up on SUV. Traveled from South Florida to Jersey Shore without a "hitch". Excellent product. Met another customer with same hitch in a rest stop area. He commented...no problems just like me

VERY easy to use and set up. I can place rack and load two bikes in five minutes (I timed myself). Even less time to reload bikes after our ride. The bikes don't swing or move about even on gravel roads which protects the car finish from dings. Price is great and I like the Swagman Website for this Canadian company. Tilt ability to get into hatch of our stationwagon only takes seconds. Balanced so it easy to move rack even when loaded with bikes Wheel wells adjusting screen is stiff

Extremely surprised at the quick delivery of the bike rack! Assembly was easy and completed in less than 30 minutes. So much easier loading the bikes and really like the tilt feature. Pleased we chose the Swagman over other brands we researched.

Awesome for what it is - an affordable bike rack. I’ve used it with a 1-1/4” and a 2” hitch (with the adapter). Hauling 1 or 2 mountain bikes. Easy to use and install. A little wobbly, but I purchased the straps to stabilize for longer trips (prob just me being Paranoid, not an actual safety issue).

Love the bike rack and am very happy with the service etrailer has provided. Have just received our Thule kayak carrier from them and and waiting for the Yakama roof rack to follow. Great company to deal with!

This is a great bike rack: easy to mount, easy to load, secure to the vehicle. I installed it upside down initially and scraped bottom, losing the hitch pin. I reinstalled it the correct way and have had no problems since. I can't remember why I installed it upside down the first time.

This rack is great! I’ve used it multiple times and the bikes are easy to get off and on. I like how light it is to put on. The bikes are sturdy and I’ve used the tilt feature more times than I can count! Excellent rack!

Very sturdy bike rack but still light enough to easily handle. Looks great with the bikes on! Bicycles seem very secure! Great product for the price. Shipping was exceptionally quick and package arrived in perfect condition!

Needed a Mid-price range, 2 bike, Platform Bike Rack. This one is fantastic for the money. Primarily chose this one because the Vertical Support bar that the Hooks which lock onto the Bikes is Metal and so are the Hooks themselves. Some have plastic Supports and more problematic Plastic Ratchets. This one has metal through and through including vertical support ratchets that the Top Tube hooks lock into and likely is a bit more secure & Durable vs plastic ratchets. It fits both 2.5 and 2.8 bike tires. I like the tilt option for when opening the rear SUV hatch. It wobbles a little when driving from the connection to the Car receiver. But it's no big deal and the bikes hold tight and secure. Would Definitely recommend

I could not have imagined a better bike rack ! Great quality and easy to assemble .

Construction, finish, fit and function exceeded expectations. Very happy we chose this one. Also we had ordered wrong lock to go with this. They called us to get it sorted. Fabulous customer service.

It took quite awhile to get here after being ordered - probably due to the pendemic - but it was worth the wait. It is well made and very heavy. The instructions were good but the accompanying photos could have been better. I eventually figured it out and got the rack installed on our Subaru. We used it for the first time a few days ago and the bikes were easy to load/unload and the rack's strong mounting kept them from wobbling as we drove to the trail head. We're pleased with the purchase.

Have had this bike year for a little over a year. Easy to set up. This product is extremely sturdy and is perfect for my wife and I’s electric bikes.

- S64671

Great rack from this price range. It can be a little difficult to set the wheel distances correctly when hauling two bikes, but once it's set it's super easy to take bikes on and off.

- S64671
by:

This bike rack is well engineered and appears to be of high quality materials. Initial assembly took about 30 minutes. Paying careful attention to the instructions and diagrams is essential. The diagrams could be larger and more detailed, especially when they call for a bolt placement. The hooks are of different lengths, but appear the same in every diagram. I have much more confidence in this rack than a previous rack that was just strapped onto the rear of the car. And, as I get older, I appreciate not having to lift the bikes up onto a roof mounted rack. Just lifting a foot or so is a pleasure. The ability to tilt the bikes out of the way allowing trunk access is also appreciated.

- S64671
by:

Very well made rack. Trays and hold down arms confidently secure bike. I added a security screw on each side of the arms that hold the trays, to prevent anyone from stealing the trays. Also added two inexpensive waterproof locks for about $12 for both to secure the hold down clamps.

Greg did a great job in helping me select a bicycle rack for my jeep wrangler JL. The Swagman XTC-2 Tilt is an incredable rack. I'm a mechanical engineer and it's been a while since I've seen such a quality piece. It went together in about 15 minutes and looks great. Installed on the jeep curt extended hitch ( C13392) and everything clears the spare tire both open and folded. Some trial and error to get the 2 mountain bikes in the correct location and for the pedals to clear properly. Feels sturdy and safe.

I have one question, I have the 1/2 threaded hitch pin left over. I have assembles every thing and it looks great and works well. I'm using the bike rack for 2" hitches.

- S64671
by:

Overall I am very happy with the bike rack. My only issue is it is a little heavy

- S64671
by:

Does what it's supposed to do! After trying a $35 hanging rack this was a huge improvement. Interstate travel, no problem. Dirt roads, no problem. Attatched to a Honda CR-V so the dirt roads aren't anything crazy. Like the tilt away feature, which the hanging rack had, but this is better because the bikes are secured at 3 points and don't swing out with the rack. The tilt away center riser is a nice touch as well. I would buy it again.

etrailer.com was very helpful in the phone conversation that preceded my purchase. (Other than the 38 minute wait). I received the XTC-2 tilt within 4 days on standard purchase, without paying extra for shipping. This was great service. I have installed and used the XTC-2 tilt and am happy with it at this point. My 5 year old son figured out what to do to make it work (thoroughly enjoyable to watch him) and was thrilled with putting the bikes on the rack and going to the bike park. I am currently pleased with everything (except the long wait time, and difficulty finding the etrailer phone number -- which might have been obvious and i missed it) so 5 stars. It is too soon to rate the product; one needs some time to see how it holds up. Nonetheless I am pleased.

Love this bike rack. Very easy to install and has multiple options for tilting it out of the way. Best bike rack I've used.

- S64671
by:

I highly recommend this bike rack. I did a lot of research and this one scored the best. It is solidly built and the hardware pieces (like knobs, bolts, etc) work extremely well. The tilting stem feature is really handy for loading/unloading the inside bike and for getting into the back of my SUV. Once mounted the bikes seem secure while driving. One big decision is upgrading to a rack with built-in locks. To do so, adds around $100. The added expense, to me, is not worth it. I simply used a cable and key-lock which was bought a while back for less than $20. BTW, assembly was easy. It took about 20 minutes, and the needed wrenches are included. I also strongly suggest you purchase from etrailer since their customer service is excellent. You can buy this rack on Amazon, but it will cost you more and you won't get anything near the customer service etrailer offers.

Ordering was a breeze and carrier arrived in two days. Assembled in less than an hour. Only issue is the 8mm tilt bolt is extremely tight and difficult to tighten with the allen wrench. Carrier is sturdily constructed. Holds two bikes with little or no wobble and low enough to see out of the rear view mirror! I would highly recommend.
