Traveler 5 Hitch Bike Rack

The Traveler bike rack lets you transport up to 5 bikes on the back of your vehicle without having to skimp on style or pay big bucks.

An anti-wobble hitch pin reduces the movement of the rack in the hitch receiver. And you can tighten the thumbscrew on the back of the upright mast to help keep the mast from wobbling.

Dual Arms

Traveler Arms

Constructed of rugged steel with a sleek black powder coat finish, the Traveler features dual arms that support your bikes and better accommodate women's, children's and alternative frames. (An adapter bar [HRBA-PRO - sold separately] may still be required.) The arms easily fold down when the rack is not in use - just unscrew the hand knob on each arm, lower the arms into the brackets, and tighten the knobs down.

Anti-Sway Cradles

Traveler Cradles

Rubber anti-sway cradles with straps firmly grip your bike's frame at three points to keep it from swaying front to back. This helps to keep your bikes from hitting each other and your vehicle during transit. The cradles rotate and slide along the arms, so you can easily adjust them based on the type and number of bikes you're transporting. And you can use the integrated safety strap to help keep your bikes tied down.

Tilting Mast

Traveler Tilted

The Traveler's upright mast tilts forward to allow access to your vehicle's cargo area. Once your bikes are unloaded, just remove the linchpin from the base and tilt the rack away from the vehicle.

An anti-rattle hitch lock and cable lock set (HRLHPTC - sold separately) is recommended to deter theft of the rack and your bikes.

Built to last. This one is replacing a 3-bike Hollywood rack that is 12 years old. It still works fine but I needed space for more bikes! I had one question during assembly - I called the toll-free number on the instructions and immediately talked to a very helpful person who answered my question. I highly recommend Hollywood racks and highly recommend etrailer.com. 82748

The rack is still working out great. Its a beast. My trailer and carrier needs are minimal, but I can honestly say that there is no need to shop around - because I did prior to this purchase - etrailer.com is a no-brainer.

Product was exactly as described. Overall works pretty well although 5 bikes are a bit crowded and the rubber straps used to secure the bikes take some effort to secure 300591

Solid design and materials. A bit of a challenge on more atypical frame shapes, including wider top tubes (e.g. Electra Cruiser, top tube is too wide for the cradle) or those with intersecting frame components that make for narrower frame openings (i.e. difficulty in getting over the cradles). Also note that the cradles do not move and the 5th pair of cradles are positioned close (same as other brands?) to the vehicle, between the vertical tube and the vehicle. 198013

After a year, it has held up well. Construction-wise, it a winner. As noted previously, a design that accommodates various frames better would have been nice.

We've only used it once but it is great! It fits all 5 of our bikes without issue and we're happy. We have an adult men's bike, adult women's bike, and three 24" kid/teen bikes. The women and kid bikes have to go through the bars slightly differently, but not a problem at all. We love it! 828448

Just used our bike rack for a camping trip after storing it in the garage for the winter. We had not tried to fit 5 bikes on it before, but my son wanted to bring both his BMX trick bike and his mountain bike. All 5 bikes (2 adult, 3 kids) fit without any trouble, nice and secure. Highly recommended. 399904

Product worked great on a trip to Chincoteauge and back. About 450 mi. There are more deluxe bike racks available but they also have deluxe pricing that goes with them. I was very satisfied with the functionality of this rack. It seemed plenty strong to support the 5 adult bikes that I carried. 153751

Review from a similar Traveler in Hitch Bike Racks

Bought this product after researching many 4 bike capacity racks on line. I wanted something sturdy but not ultra expensive. I considered buying the Thule trailway ( I think it’s csljed) at dicks because it got pretty good reviews and has a latch to tilt instead of a pin. But ultimately decided on this model. So glad I did. very sturdy. Easy to assemble and operate. Holds 4 bikes or varying sizes/styles easily. The only change I would make would be to somehow attach pin that you pull out to tilt the rack out to the rack somehow. I’m always afraid I’m going to lose it. This rack will stay on my car for the majority of the year (with the exception of winter) so ease of use was important to me 555182

Very nice bike rack for the price. Rack was very easy to put together and install. have only used it once but it seems to be very well made. the ordering was easy to use and rack arrived in 3 days. 176563

I have used the bike rack many times in the past year and it is very well made. The anti-rattle pin works very well and the strap keeps the wheels from turning in the wind. Would recommend this rack to anyone looking for a well made rack at a good price.

Ordering and shipping were quite easy and very quick. Product looks very sturdy and easily assembled; however, have not hauled the bikes with it as of yet (just got it two days ago, the only reason I did not rate excellent). 94078

I saw a Rav4 that had a bike rackHollywood that fit over the spare tire. The rack looked to be bolted to the back of the door. I have an SUV without a door mounted spare, but I would like to find a bike rack that mounts to the back of the car. I dont want to use a car hitch.

There are 3 basic types of bike racks used on the rear. Hitch mounted, spare tire mounted and trunk mounts. The first two are out since you do not want to use a hitch and do not have a spare. There are several trunk bike racks that will fit on SUVs. You can write back and with the year, make and model of your SUV I can show you what will fit. Or you can use our Fit Guide, input the information, and the website will display the results for your vehicle.

Review from a similar Traveler in Hitch Bike Racks

Prior to purchase I made sure no bike exceeded the recommended weight limit. When mounted, this rack is secure. Rubber securing straps are plenty strong. Loading and securing 4 adult size bikes was relatively easy. Although a tight fit, it was not difficult and took about 30 minutes. Traveled 4 hours on first trip with no issues! We don't use it very often so I I don't keep it mounted to the car (it only takes a few minutes to put on and take off). This will prevent the rubber securing straps and other parts from deteriorating in the weather. By doing so, this thing will outlive several cars. 922280

This is a very good, sturdy bike rack. It's easy on/off as it's hitch mounted. I've taken two bikes (it's a 3 bike rack) on a trip with this rack, it's very secure on my small SUV. It also folds down with bikes on the rack so you can access the hatch area of the vehicle. 875431

Review from a similar Traveler in Hitch Bike Racks

I love etrailer the site is great and working with their top-notch customer service made things a breeze. However, I'm not a fan of this product. This was not my first choice. It was actually my third choice because the first two choices were not available or on back-order likely due to the pandemic. I have used this Hollywood rack twice. Sure, it works. But it rattles a whole lot. I added an anti-rattle clamp as well as a stabilizing strap which has helped but added pain when installing. It squeaks a whole lot at the joints (or example at the midpoint between the lower pole and upper pole). I will add tome WD 40 to hopefully eliminate this. Installed using a drawtite hitch on a 2012 Honda Crosstour. 871624

Review from a similar Traveler in Hitch Bike Racks

The carrier was eady to assemble and attach to my hitch. We have 4 bikes, 2 children, 1 women's and 1 man's. It wasn't until the carrier arrived that I saw the video about needing a bar accessory to put children's and women's bikes on. We did not have time or money to purchase more parts so we managed to fit the bikes on. The rack works great but may have made a different choice if we had the information prior to purchasing. 829594

  • Can Hollywood Racks Traveler or Another 5-Bike Rack Fit on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler with Spare Tire
The only way to know for sure if a bike rack is going to clear the spare on your 2017 Jeep Wrangler is to take a measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the spare. I can't give you a specific answer because different hitches sit at different distances and it also depends on the size of the tire. The Hollywood Racks Traveler, part # HR9200, has about 9-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to the upright mast. If your measurement is less than 9-1/2 then it'll...

The Hollywood Racks Traveler 5 Bike Carrier # HR9200 can carry up to 5 bikes weighing 35 lbs each. While the math sounds like it should carry a single 43 lbs bike, I do not recommend it because the individual straps and cradles are not rated for more than 35 lbs. You risk damaging the straps and cradles, and eventually your bike if they come undone. The Curt...
