The Sport Rider Special Edition platform-style hitch bike rack makes it simple to carry 2 electric bikes on the rear of your vehicle. The included adapter sleeve enables the rack to fit both 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers. This bolstered steel rack is easy to use, and it features locking frame hooks and heavy-duty wheel holders with welded gussets to reinforce the rack so that it can handle the extra weight of your electric bikes.

Locking, Ratcheting Hooks

1450E hooks

Constructed of rugged steel with a sleek black powder coat finish, the Sport Rider SE2 uses locking frame hooks to secure your bikes. The ratcheting hooks are easily adjusted along the vertical mast and lock securely in place. The push buttons allow the hooks to slide up the ratcheting system to allow for bike removal. The lock cores keep the hooks from being moved up or down on the mast to deter theft. The hooks are different sizes and each one functions independently, meaning the rack can carry two bikes of the same or different heights.

Adjustable Wheel Holders

1450E Wheel Holders

The wheel holders accommodate bicycles with wheelbases up to 58 inches, and you can adjust the wheel hoops by sliding them along the horizontal arms. They are secured in place with hand knobs. Velcro-like hook-and-loop straps secure your bike's wheels to the holders.

Folding, Tilting Design

The rack tilts, with or without bikes loaded, for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. Simply remove the pivot pin, pull the bottom quick-release spring pin, and lower the rack.

The rack also folds up against the back of your vehicle when it's not in use. To raise the rack, just pull the upper quick-release spring pin and lift.

Easy Installation with Locking Hitch Pin

The Sport Rider SE2 easily installs in your hitch with the included locking hitch pin. Just slide the shank into your receiver, insert the hitch pin, and then tighten it down with the included tool. The pin also works as an anti-wobble device to eliminate sway and rattle in the receiver. The frame hook locks and the hitch lock are conveniently keyed alike.

A removable adapter sleeve is included so the rack can be converted for use with 1-1/4" hitch receivers. The sleeve attaches to the shank with a single screw and can be installed or removed quickly.

Add-On Wheel Hoop Adapters for Kid's Bikes

 Hollywood Racks Wheel Hoop Adapters

If you want to use the rack to transport a kid's bike with 16" or 18" wheels, wheel hoop adapters (HRSW-ADP-2 - sold separately) are available.

Video Transcript for Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 Bike Rack Review

Hey guys, today we're going to be checking out the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 electric bike rack. I've already got it loaded up here just to give you a good picture of what it looks like with bikes loaded. Now tough this may look like a standard bike rack, it's not. It's made out of a heavier duty construction with welded gussets to support the extra weight of electric bikes. I've got an electric bike loaded up right here, and I've got a standard mountain bike here at the front, but it's also going to work with your women's and children's bikes and bikes of alternative frame styles. Now other than the fact that it's made to support those electric bikes, it's pretty much going to operate the same way as any other premium platform style bike rack out there. And what I mean by that is we're going to be able to tilt it away to gain access to our rear hatch. The way that's done is you want to remove the snapper pin here at the bottom.

In order to easily get this out, you want to pick up on the bike rack just slightly so we can pull that out and then we'll pull out the quick release pin and then tilt it away. From there you can see it's going to give us more than enough room to swing open that rear hatch without it coming in contact with our handlebars. Now this could vary depending on what style of vehicle or what bikes you might be carrying. Now when it comes to raising it back up, remember it can be a bit heavy because we're carrying electric bikes, so if you needed an extra set of hands, go ahead and get those. But what I like to do is pick up on the hook itself, raise it back in until that quick release pin auto engages. From there we'll just need to install the snapper pin.

And again, picking up on the rear of the bike, sliding that in is a lot easier. When we get to the trails our bikes are pretty easy to remove. We've got a frame hook going over our top tube and then we've got two hook and loop straps keeping our wheels into the wheel cradles. Not a bad way to support and transport your bikes. You can see they're not going anywhere. We can rest assured they will be safe. Now that frame hook is rubber coated so that way it doesn't harm or scratch the finish of our top tube and it's also lockable.

That way no one can remove our bikes. We can leave the whole bike rack and our bikes on attended. That's going to be located just right here. Four keys are included. Once we've got it unlocked, simply press in and raise it up.

It ratchets down to keep your bikes in place. There's no need to push down on that. Once it makes contact with that top tube, your bike is going to remain in place. When it comes to taking them off, you'll of course want to undo the hook and loop strap first. Make sure your frame hook is unlocked when you press on the button and raise it up. Then we can just take our bike off. Before we remove the next bike, there's a bit more to it. I do however, want to mention that if you are carrying electric bikes, Hollywood Racks recommends that you do not transport the bike with the battery installed. You can see I've already taken off mine, so we're all set. You'll want to be sure that your hook and loop straps are already undone. The first way is we can raise up our frame hooks just like we did with the first bike and try to fumble around with getting our bike off. Now depending on with how much room we have between our bike rack and our vehicle, this can be a bit difficult. As you can see with where it's positioned, I would have to either lift it out this way. I suppose I could lift it straight up, but since it's an electric bike, it's heavy. So what we can do instead is we can take a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the Phillips head screw from behind the center mast here, and then completely remove the frame hooks. From here it gives us a little bit more room or we could get a little bit more, pull the pin at the bottom of center mast and then just lift it straight off. I can honestly say is this whole lot easier with an electric bike with it being heavy than having to lift it over the bike rack. Now if you'd like to reinstall your frame hooks under the center mast, you can do so or you can leave them off for next time. Some people like to stow them in the rear hatch. Now that center mast only folds down to the right. So if you choose to load or unload your bikes with this method, you'll want to be sure that the first bike here, the pedals are on the left side. That way when you go to fold it down, it doesn't make contact. You can fold it down all the way. So just a quick note there. Now when your bike rack is not in use, you'll want to use the pin here to lock it in this position. That way you can then fold the whole bike rack up against your vehicle. And to do that you want to pull out on the quick release pin here, and fold it up until it snaps in. This is going to give you more clearance maybe for when parking or pulling in your garage. With it folded up, I'd like to point out the welded gussets underneath the wheel cradles. This is what gives them the extra support to carry those electric bikes.Further down here at the bottom, it's going to work with inch and a quarter or two inch receivers. If you're using inch and a quarter, it needs to be class two. It includes a sleeve to allow it to work with a two inch receiver. You can see here how the shank is an inch and a quarter. Once that sleeve goes on, it'll slide right into that two inch by two inch receiver. I'm gonna go ahead and show you that. Now lock it. I'm going to use a three quarter inch wrench to loosen it up. Now you'll notice that it has an anti rattle bolt. That's this threaded bolt here that I'm removing. Once this is tightened up, it's going to reduce all that play and rattle within the receiver tube and the bike rack. You can see with it loosened up, there's a lot of play there. Take it all the way out so I can show you that sleeve and that's going to be right there. When you're ready to use it with an inch and a quarter, you remove the Phillips head screw from this side and it just slides right off, and you line it up into your inch and a quarter receiver, just like any other receiver tube with the hitch pin hole. Before we finish up, I'd like to point out a few more features. All of the cradles on the platform are adjustable to work with bikes with different size wheel bases. To do so, you'll simply loosen up the knob here, and we can push it out or move it in. Once we've got it in place, just tighten it back up. Now all of the cradles will work with tire widths up to three inches wide. If you're interested in carrying a fat bike with tires up to five inches wide, we do sell the fat bike cradles here at etrailer.com. So if that's something you're interested in, see etrailer.com.From the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack is going to be about nine inches. From the center of that hitch pin hole to the end of the rack is about 28 and a half inches. With it folded up, we'll take those same measurements. Center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack is about six and a half inches. Center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the rack is about 14 and three quarters of an inch. One last thing that Hollywood Racks includes is an eight foot cable lock. This is going to further prevent anyone from taking our setup. This is our test course. Let's start with the slalom. This shows side to side action such as turning corners or evasive maneuvering. Then onto our solid speed bumps. This is gonna show an up and down action, such as pulling in and out of a driveway or out of a parking lot. And then finally onto our alternating speed bumps. This is going to show a twisting action, such as going over potholes or uneven pavement. But other than that, that's going to complete our look at the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 electric bike rack.

Received delivery today (6/17/19) and proceeded to uncrate the bike rack. Although I have not yet installed it, I can attest to the quality of construction (VERY substantial), and attention to detail. I have read the instructions, and they are perfectly clear. I researched numerous racks and this clearly stood out as what I needed. I am not disappointed, and would highly recommend this rack for anyone needing a bike rack that is undoubtedly a piece of equipment that will not fail, and will provide years of service. 659405

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

Unlike other product descriptions and instructions, etrailer.com's instructions were clear and well illustrated. I was easily able to follow the instructions and assemble the bike rack in less than an hour. I was most pleased with the customer support offered by etrailer.com. I was unsure of the best bike rack for my needs (an ebike) so I called the support number and had a well informed representative guide me to the "best fit" rack for my car and bikes. It makes such a difference to get it right the first time and having someone to talk to makes all the difference. 646975

Great Product, Heavy Duty, easy installation! I added brackets to the ends to allow for Break and Running lights, as the bikes will be covered, blocking the Vehicle. Uncovered Bikes work well with out additional lights. 637178

Owned my Hollywood bike rack for a year now and hands down this is one solid unit.--has many adjustments for small and large bicycles .---The easy on and off clamps are failsafe.---The fold-up locking pins are a cinch while folding the rack into a smaller footprint.---- The included bike and hitch locks are a real plus and the built in hitch clamp removes 100% of rack sway. Overall a high quality rack for a real fair price.----Gordon Lehman 576997

I received my Hollywood rack in good order. I live in Canada so having to return anything is a real hassle. I like dealing with etrailer because they do their own research on product quality and don't try to sell anything that won't work for me. I narrowed my search down to two racks and I chose the Hollywood for my 60# fat tire electric bike with 20" wheels. Once I cranked the handle, there was absolutely no wobble whatsoever.I mounted it onto my Kia Sorento with the Curt class III 2" hitch.(Also purchased from etrailer.) 633381

Product arrived quickly. I found it easy to assemble and mount on my 2014 Honda CR-V. It seems very sturdy and should do a fine job carrying my two mountain bikes. 389258

Shipped on time by etrailer, setup was easy and was installed in less than an hour. Drove from Quartzsite, AZ to Benson AZ, with two 70 pound (EACH!) electric bikes. I had the rear camera on and watching. No shaking or shifting. One of the ebikes was a woman's bike. I reversed the position of the frame hooks so the shorter of the 2 ebikes hooked to the low frame on the the woman's bike. Worked perfectly! Overall, an excellent experience. 612722

This product met my expectations. It is extremely well engineered, high quality and very easy to assemble. I like the simple design and that it is very solid when attached to the car thanks to the 2" hitch. This was the one thing I was concerned most about but not any more it is a solid attachment. It is very easy to load bikes and lock down boys and girl frames no problem also like the way it folds up into a compact package which is easy to Cary and store. This will really make transporting our bikes from place to place a whole lot easier . If you are looking for a sturdy bike carrier this is the one to buy. Maybe a little pricey but once you get it installed and use it you will forget about what it cost. 186310

This bike rack is fantastic very good quality and exceeds my expectations. Only one slight flaw, the fabric tie downs for the wheels are poor quality, I had to call the company for 3 replacements which the company replaced very quickly for me at no cost, however the new straps could still be of better quality. Still a great product and Co. To deal with, I would buy another one if I had to.

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

Just purchased a Hollywood Sport Rider SE-2 From etrailer.com. Am quite pleased with the quality of the product , the easy assembly, and installation. Plan to use it to carry 2 bikes from home to wherever, did not want to carry in the bed of my pickup as did not want to damage bikes or truck bed. I am old guy and have no problem loading bikes by myself. And another plus is locking hitch and also locking cable for bikes. So easy, safe, and secure makes this product a great choice. Another great choice would be etrailor.com , The ease of navigating this site, ordering process helpful and caring staff is why I will order from this site again. Thanks etrailer.com 130476

Received the hitch very quickly. Everything was in good condition. Easy to put together and adjust. I would have preferred that the latch that comes down over the bike frame was the type that use a key lock, but considering the price, this will work. Using the tilt feature, I am able to open the rear hatch of my Outback even with my 29'r Cannondale on the mount closest to the car. I used the rack on 30 miles of back country, rough roads. By the nature of the way racks are mounted, they wiggle around a bit. Glad I got the 2" model. I think the 1 1/4" with a sleeve to fit a 2" would end up fatigued if used on rough roads. 107714

The HR1450E bike rack is a bit heavy, and it's a bit big and it takes a few minutes to unfold and fold it open and closed.. BUT it is truly the best rack I have ever used. I love it! When you are done securing your very expensive bike's to the rack- it is not going any where! and it's easy to lock the whole thing up and go in and have lunch on the road. I recommend it! 332239

Comes with a hitch lock AND cable lock long enough to wrap around bikes and then to be fed through the designated hole in the base of the rack. Four keys are given that open both provided locks, so there is no worrying if it is the correct key when you pull them out of storage. I have a heavier enduro mountain bike and my rack/hitch holds it without shaking and rattling, but also holds road bikes just as well. And if I ever meet two other people who would like to tear it up on the trails with me on a regular basis, I know I can come back here and buy the attachment for an additional two more bikes. A year later and it's never been removed, is rust free, and working like it did on day 1. By going through etrailer.com and not the car dealer to buy the hitch, install that myself, then buy the rack in store and install that too, I saved hundreds! Their products are quality at a fraction of others' prices, with great installation videos that helped me get 'er done (I'm definitely not a mechanic). Couldn't recommend this rack/etrailer.com more. 556616

The people at etrailer really know their stuff. Great product information, illustrations, guides, FAQs, and customer reviews. A well put together web store. I have brought several items from them over the years. The ebike rack is beefy and works slick. It was fun to put together. 235914

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

Rack is great, the quality control is not. The rack is straightforwardly engineered- there is no exotic workmanship or hardware to be found, which is fine by me, since replacement parts should be easy to find/make. Heavy and strong with a higher weight capacity than most. Highly adjustable to different bike sizes. Folds up pretty compactly considering its size. Included locking hitch pin and cable is nice. Anti-wobble mechanism works very well and is super easy to use. ISSUES: tilt-down feature did not tilt bikes far enough away to be useful (on my '98 4Runner anyway). Directions could be better thought-out, illustrations were small and overly dark. QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES: 1. the anti-wobble handle was installed facing the wrong way. Had to be re-intalled in order to function. 2. The anti-wobble "U" shaped bracket inside the hitch was oriented the wrong way. Had to be removed and re-oriented. 3. One of the pins did not have a tether (all the others do, which prevents you from losing them.) The first 2 issues were easily fixed, and the 3rd I can figure out something, but come on, it's a $300 rack, inspect it already. Despite this, very happy with purchase. 143334

This product was perfect for my heavy e-bike (Stromer ST-1) and was capable of holding 2 of them at 55 lbs each. The instructions for assembly were straight forward and all parts were easily identified. Once assembled, the rack was easy to attach to my hitch and easy to take off. I loved the fact that it folded down to allow the tailgate to open. I would definitely buy again, and, in fact, will have to do so since I lost my home in the recent Northern Cal wildfire and the rack was in the garage!! I will be ordering exactly the same product. 454968

We installed our E bike rack very quickly using the direction sheet included. All the parts were easy to locate and connect. The hardest part was figuring out which bike would fit best first on, but once that was figured out, it is so easy to load and secure the bikes. We have had two other bike rack systems over the years and this product overall deserves a five star rating! 664469

Simple and strong... I waited too long to buy this item. Real necessity if you are going to try and be active with an electric bike. The best way transport 2 heavy electric bikes. I did a lot of research looking for the right bike rack that would hold 2 e bikes securely. The bikes have fenders, so a lot of the other brands wouldn't work where the hook grabs the front tire. This rack is great. Well built, solid and easily holds our 2 e bikes. Great features on the rack as well, tilt and no wobble, along with the locks and cable. Instructions were good and an easy project to put the rack together. Rack was shipped in a good protective box and arrived on time. 495795

Pro: Holds a heavy cargo bike with a long wheelbase. Con: The foam padding on the arm holders broke apart on our first road trip and scratched both bikes. Very cumbersome to adjust wheelbase. Heavy with cheap velcro straps and foam padding. I've owned several racks over the past few decades and this by far the worst. The only benefit is that it can accommodate a heavy bike with a long wheelbase. It's been over a year since I purchased this so maybe there are other nicer options out there that will fit a cargo bike. I would recommend looking at other products. Though Etrailer customer service and transaction was very good. 365819

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

We had shopped many of the well known brands of Bike racks and was able to use etrailer to view videos on each one of the products. We found this very helpful to actually see how it fit on the car and also how well it did or did not function in use. We ended up choosing the Hollywood brand, a two bike model that has the ability to expand. It was important that it tipped and folded flat so we shopped for those qualities as well as durability. We live in Colorado, use the rack almost every weekend and have a variety of weather conditions. After 2 weeks we are very happy with our purchase. It is sturdy, fits my Jeep Grand Cherokee perfectly and is easy to fold and tilt. I am small in stature so being able to maneuver around the rack and load and unload the bikes was important for me. Great rack and met all our needs. Note to buyers, if you have a newer vehicle with the backup object detector, the buzzing when you back up can make you a little crazy. 369377

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

I cannot say enough about the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 that I purchased over a year ago - it handles a total of 160 pounds for our 2 eBikes that weigh 80 pounds each. I have not seen any other such rack on the market that even comes close to handling eBikes with this much weight. The attached picture shows how these two bikes travel on the back of our truck. The racks hold the bike sturdy while traveling on a major highway at 65mphs. Even on bumpy dirt roads, this rack holds the eBike in the same position until they are removed. The other great feature is the quick flexibility, of the tire and frame holder, to make adjustments for one or two eBikes being transported. The tilt down feature makes easy loading/unloading of the 80 pound bikes for one person. It's also nice to be able to leave the rack in place by flipping it up when not in use, or leaving it horizontal when opening the tailgate of the truck. And when it does need to be removed, it's so simple to unlock it from the truck hitch and remove with minimal effort. After one year of full outdoor exposure (rain, snow and sun), there is no sign of any rust or defect on the rack, or the locking mechanism. I highly recommend this particular rack if you intend to transport any type of heavy duty eBike, you'll be glad you did when you don't see any wild movements while traveling down the road. 468152

Totally worth the investment, as I can now port this rack from my pickup truck, to our 5th Wheel hitch, and our Volvo HDT RV towing vehicle. To get the rack to fit on the 2 RV rigs hitches, Ill have to obtain a hitch reducing sleeve that I know eTrailer also stocks. This racks just keeps paying for itself over and over again.

Thanks for your follow and reply. Very happy to hear that you are pleased with this bike rack, but I did want to let you know that Hollywood racks only rates this rack for use behind a driving vehicle and a motorhome. It is not rated for use on a towed vehicle, or on an RV. If you would like to consider a different bike rack the Swagman Escapee # S64693
Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount
$399.00
is a great choice because it is rated for use on RV's and trailers. It does offer many of the same features as your Hollywood Racks, but is has a 60 pound per bike weight capacity, and may not be compatible for bikes with fenders.

This is one solid, high capacity rack. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that it's pretty darn heavy being all steel. The fit and finish is top quality. If you've watched the assembly video, it's a cinch to put together. All the bolts are metric (made in China like everything these days), so you need to right sockets or end wrenches, but they give you the SAE equivalents when that works. I also want to mention what a pleasure it is to deal with etrailer. These guys are top notch. My order shipped the day it was made, and they follow through. 425065

After a year of use, my opinion has changed. This is a solid rack that will haul heavy ebikes anywhere you wish to go. As I write, we are heading home from what will be a 1600 mile trip to Colorado with the bikes.

Very sturdy, well-made rack. It is easy to assemble, but e-trailer has a good assembly video available, if needed. This rack is rated to be able to carry two 80 pound bikes, and I was unable to find any bicycle rack that was comparably rated. The racks that I could find that were close, as far as weight carrying capacity, were hundreds of dollars more. So far, I am very satisfied with this purchase. 454779

I was referred to this product by someone who had purchased it previously and has two electric bikes. He had forewarned me of the poor instructions for assembly and he was correct. It is lighter than my previous bike rack and easy to handle and install. Basically it is the best bike rack I have ever used and continue to use as I get ready for the coming bike season. Sturdy, reliable, easy to use, and secure - Thank you 336110

After a year - the more I use it the more I like it. Believe it or not, if your bike rack is easy to use - the more adventures you will take your bike on. Never a second thought - I just install it on the Mini RV and I am on the road to my next exciting Electric Bike Ride.

Thanks for your feedback I did want to let you know that Hollywood Racks that they do not approve their bikes for use on the back of ANY RV's despite the size, trailer, or even for use on flat towed vehicles. I have included a link for your referece for all the bike racks that are RV/Trailer use approve for your reference.

The HR1455E is a solid bike rack for carrying my Rad Mini that has 5 inch tires. Took it up and down mountain roads and watched for any movement from my rear camera from my Sprinter motor home. There were none, it worked perfectly. 445548

It was very difficult for me to shell out the big bucks for the Hollywood Racks Electric Bike carrier after I had spent close to $4k on two electric bikes. But a year later, I am glad I bought this carrier. The framework is designed for the extra weight of electric bikes so it is very sturdy, but the greatest feature is the loop mechanism inside the hitch receiver bar. This loop is tightened up around the hitch pin which results in a rack that absolutely does not move in any direction. Your rack and your expensive bikes are rock solid on the back of your vehicle. 570885

We have two oversized heavy comfort e-bikes that need a stronger rack. The etrailer product fit the bill perfectly. It fit great on our 2011 GMC Terrain and works a treat. I'm not a mechanical guy, but even I was able to read the instructions, watch the youtube videos, and install the rack with a torque wrench as per specs. We have had some nice trips with our bikes. Our bikes were made by Day 6, and the owner of the company personally recommended your product. Thanks for the quality item. 252860

We started putting it together and noticed "on the instructions". Not to be used on a towed vehicle" This was the reason we purchased it in the first place. We put it together anyway, the reason being, we might be using it around our area and would keep it than for just that purpose. I have a women's bike and my husband purchased an electric bike with a low step through. With both bikes needing to use the lower bar, it would not work. It would be helpful to put this warning on your instructional video to save $ and not waste time: Not to be used on a towed camper or car. 156008

The carrier is rock solid, the anti rattle device works perfectly and after i drilled out the missing holes, the storage cart is very useful. I have confidently hauled my bicycle for a 1000 miles with little paint rub. However, the setup of the wheel rests is an exceptionally frustrating experience. I do not remember if i wiggled or sledge hammered them into position. I do remember lifting my 50 pound bike up into them at least 5 times before being correctly distanced. The tilting function should be avoided unless you like the sight of blood. If any bicycles are on the rack they must be lifted with one hand while pulling the safety pin. As soon as the pin clears the entire rack pivots toward the ground. the spring loaded catch is just a phrase. My feelings are that you adjust this rack for your bicycles and never change it, and always remember to put everything you want into the trunk before mounting the bicycle. 571386

Strong well made, well designed item. Don't waste your time looking for other bike carriers for ebikes. This is it! Shipping was fast and easy, and assembly was very simple. I was a bit concerned if it would work/fit on our LandRover Discovery II with its outside spare tire mounted on the back, but no problems. The rear door opens fine. Great product! 276715

This is an excellent e-bike rack. I have used it for my older 55 lb. IGO e-bike mounted on my 2016 Honda CRV. It is a very heavy duty and a well-made bike rack. I only need it for carrying one bike so I left one wheelset off. I like that I can open the rear door without having to take the bike off the SUV. Even when the bike is off the rack and the rack is folded up, I can still open the rear hatch door while on the vehicle. The anti-sway adjustment works perfectly. It is fairly heavy weight wise for me as I am 72 years. The top clamp holds the bike very securely and is easy to use. It came with a keyed alike cable and hitch pin lock which was an extra greatly appreciated. You can't go wrong with this rack and I expect it will last for many years. 558858

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

Good recommendation by etrailer staff (phone) to meet some specific needs for an e-bike (heavier than usual bikes) traveling on two different vehicles. The Hollywood rack is quite sturdy, high quality, well thought out, and seems to be stable while driving. Took a while to assemble - instructions are difficult for what is otherwise a fairly straightforward design. E-bike is low step thru (girls style - no upper tube) and I was concerned if vertical holder would be short enough. One of the vertical hold downs is shorter than the other and it worked like a charm. Comprehensive locking system that is effective if you need to be away from the car for a bit. Rack is probably overkill if you are driving cross town to the trail but if you are planning more lengthy travels or bumpy roads this is the way to go. I'm looking forward to some RV road trips taking the bikes for multiple days. This looks like exactly what is needed. Only improvement might be more recline for opening rear hatches and doors - will have to remove bikes but not rack to get into back of Sprinter van. 151699

This might be somewhat premature, but if I don't write it now, I won't write one at all. I noticed there are many complaints about assembly instructions. I wonder if they recently got someone to rewrite these because, even though I'm not a genius, I thought they were some of the best instructions I have ever seen. The one trick I would recommend is to tear off the "Parts Included" sheet and place it side-by-side with the instructions because the instructions constantly refer to part numbers and the parts themselves are unlabeled - you need a quick reference. Uninitiated, it took me 30 minutes; if doing it a second time, it would take half that. As for quality and materials, parts are all snug and tight and properly aligned (as a rule, I am generally ready with my drill to "fix" all the items that fail to line up). If this was a car, I would call it excellent fit and finish. It is as heavy-duty as most buyers state and I expect it to last a very long time. All adjustable parts are readily adjustable and lock down very tight and secure. I really like the design, which seems very well thought-out. And this is from one who constantly grouses about why they hire such stupid people to design things. As of this writing, I am thrilled and 100% certain we made the right choice to carry my wife's 65 lb electric along with my own standard model. Happy trails! 198390

Product was just as the etrailer rep presented when he recommended it. Arrived quickly, easy to assemble and load. We drove 1700 miles through 4 states (Ohio, W. Virginia, Virginia & N. Carolina) so we saw our fill of construction and rough roads. This includes interstate & local back roads in each state. The bikes are 2 cruisers old style. They never shifted or loosened. I did have to add foam on the ladies bike as the chain guard protruded enough to contact the brace. This is a bike design issue. The only scrape was the handle to tighten the hitch pin, try not to leave it hanging down. The large handle bars did limit access to the rear window, but the tilt function solved that. Pins got tight in the heat & ocean salt, light oil solved that. Very good product, service and guidance. I'll use this vendor again for other such need. 283556

Some people do their jobs with a ho hum attitude. The two ladies who helped me were professional, friendly, and helpful. A great combination in today’s world. If you need customer care like I did you will be glad if you end up with Jennifer or Kathy, and happy you did business with this company. My rack came without the hitch pin and lock but they are taking care of it. For now I’m using my old pin but not leaving town. Love the rack for my ebike. 529519

This rack is strong, all metal, balanced really well, stable and holds two bikes perfectly. It folds up into a low profile without the bikes and can easily be moved away from my truck for easy entrance to the back. We have two electric bikes which are longer than average by quite a bit and the moveable wheel holders can be adjusted to the exact length needed. The bikes are held tight and move very little over bumps or poor roads. The lock is just the right length, simple and easy to use. The ordering - customer service and prompt shipping was very pleasant and quick, and the price is lower than the better known brands, but I believe it is a much better rack. The only thing that is a con for me is the instruction manual for assembly...not so great...took quite a while to put together, but, that being said, all the parts were there and every part lends itself to excellent stability and safety. I recommend this company and the product. Really glad we found it. 233196

After spending a decent amount of money on two ebikes, I was tempted to look for a "frugal" option for a hitch mounted bike rack. I am very glad that I bought the Hollywood HR1450E, as it was easy to assemble and is the sturdy option that the ebikes need. It is comforting to look in the mirror and see the bikes securely riding along without worrying about them. The approximate $200 additional spent compared to less sturdy options is a small price to pay for peace of mind. IMHO, I don't believe that a 1 1/4 " based rack could appropriately handle the weight of my wife's Trek Verve+ and my Electra Townie. Very pleased with the quality and engineering of this rack. etrailer delivery was quick. 550478

Put the bicycle carrier together this morning. It took 45-60 minutes for assembly (I'm slow). No extra parts! Yea! Seems really solid. If I can put it together, so can you! Assemble it in the hitch. Makes it so much easier! The only tools I needed was two crescent wrenches and a screwdriver. 398526

Ive owned this bicycle carrier for approximately a year now. I have it mounted on the back of my Minnie Winnie. Last fall we drove from Washington State to Las Vegas, and it performed perfectly! No problems at all. I carried an ebike and a regular bike. I have since taken it on several camping trips, and I never had to worry about the condition of my bikes. I highly recommend this product!

Review from a similar Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 in Hitch Bike Racks

Originally I was looking at a different model that felt would be the best for my application, (60lb) step-through with fenders, but found out it was not available and this was the only other rack that would do the job. It arrived very quick and it is heavy, I was very impressed with the quality of the product and that they provide the anti-rattle and locking devices with the rack. It took about 15min to unpack and assemble. The only issue I had was I didn't like the way it grabbed the frame on the step-thru, too low. The center support clamp was at the bottom too close to the crank and chain guard and would let the bike wobble a bit. This was easily fixed by utilizing a frame adapter bar which is usually used to hang an alternate style bike frame on a hanging rack but with 1 slight modification it worked for me giving the center support a high bar to clamp down on making the bike more stable and not crowding the 2 crank sets. After loading the bikes and driving around, I'm now happy I got this rack with it's 2" hitch mount and not the other smaller one with an adapter as I think this one is better suited to the weight of these heavier bikes. 425625

Very Happy with the choice. great product. Only thing Ive changed is the tire hold down straps. Replaced with rubber straps with quick hooks which I found easier to use.

  • Best Bike Rack for E-Bike with Fenders
  • I do have an option for you but since your e-bike has fenders, the Thule T1 1-Bike Platform Rack part # TH9041 will not work for you. Instead, I recommend the Rola Convoy 1 Bike Platform Rack part # 59307 which can be used as a frame mount bike rack and has a 50 lb weight capacity. The best thing about this bike rack is that you can carry more bikes if you would like by adding the 1 Bike Add-On for Rola Convoy Platform Rack part # 59310. • Can Sport Rider SE2 Bike Rack be Used in a Class II Hitch with an Adapter
  • The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2, part # HR1450Z-E, is only designed for 2 inch trailer hitches and the manufacturer does not recommend using an adapter. Adapters normally aren't a good idea with hitch carriers because your tongue weight is reduced by 50 percent. This often makes the weight of the bikes and rack too much for the hitch. Even if you don't exceed the tongue weight rating you're still putting extra stress on the components which is better to avoid when possible. Instead...
