Video Transcript for Mighty Cord RV Wiring - Generator Adapter - A10-G30450VP Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Mighty Cord Generator Adapter Cord. This is going to feature a 30-amp male end to a 50-amp female end. The adapter cord's going to measure about 12 inches long. This is for use in adapting 30-amp generator power to 50-amp RV power. It's a nice, strong, heavy-duty cord with very strong, durable heads on the unit. This is designed for outdoor use.

The male end is going to feature a 4-prong twist lock design. Plug it in, give it a twist. It's going to lock into place. What that does is that ensures a tight, secure connection and prevents accidental disconnect. The internal wiring is going to be protected by this nice, thick casing, so that keeps them safe and protected from the elements, any type of scratches or abrasions, or cuts. The casing is going to be black in color and then the connector heads are red in color.

I also want to point out that here on the female end, we got that 90-degree design. That's always designed to help alleviate the amount of stress that's placed on the cord and on the connection points. Overall it's a really nice, strong, durable unit. That's going to do it for today's look at the Mighty Cord Generator Adapter Cord with a 30-amp male to 50-amp female ends.

Product was just as discribed. Only thing I can say is that after ordering and payi g for it I got an email that said my part wouldn't be shipped for almost another 3 weeks. In the end it was shipped in less then two weeks and was delivered packaged nicely. The email updates were a nice touch that most companies don't both doing for there customers. 337722

Do you have a question about this RV Wiring?

  • Will Using a 50 Amp to 30 Amp Adapter Still Allow Me To Plug My Trailer Into a Generator
  • It sounds like you are trying to adapt the 50 amp service on your RV down to a 30 amp service with an adapter like the Mighty Cord Generator Adapter part # A10-G30450VP that way you can plug-in and run your air conditioner unit with a portable generator like the etrailer 2,000-Watt Portable Inverter Generator part # 333-0001. If that is the case then you do not need to worry about pin configuration as the generator, power adapter, and RV will all use an industry standard layout. The hot,...

  • Can RV with 50 Amp Power Hook Up to 30 Amp Power Source
  • You can indeed connect your RV with 50 amp power to a 30 amp power source. To do this you can use an adapter like the Mighty Cord Generator Adapter # A10-G30450VP which is just a 50 amp female socket on one end and a 30 amp female connector on the other. As you mentioned, plugging into a 30 amp service is going to limit how many appliances you can have running at one time in the RV. As long as you are okay with this then you can physically hook up to the power source without issue. Technically...

  • Is it Safe to Plug a 30 Amp Trailer Into a 50 Amp Power Source
  • If the trailer requires 30 amp service that is the least amount that the power source will have to have. The power source can be rated higher but the trailer is only going to draw up to a maximum of 30 amps. Provided that you use the proper connector for the trailer and for the power source it will not be dangerous. Think of it like this: you will plug a clock radio into a wall outlet at home. The clock rated works just fine even though the outlet has much more power than the clock...

  • Can an RV with 50 amp Power Be Used with 30 amp Power Source
  • We have the part # A10-G30450VP which is a 50 amp female socket to 30 amp male connector. OK now for the bad news, in most cases when your 50 amp RV is plugged into 30 amp shore power you will have some limitations on how many appliances you can run at one time. If your RV is equipped with 2 Air Conditioners, you may only be able to run one Air Conditioner unit at a time. If you try to use both AC units at the same time you may pop the shore powers 30 amp circuit breaker.

  • Can 30 Amp RV Draw Power From 50 Amp Power Source
  • 30 amp and 50 amp sockets/plugs are not the same configuration, but you are correct a 30 amp RV can use a 50 amp power source as it will basically only draw up to the 30 amps which is totally fine. The Mighty Cord Generator Adapter # A10-G30450VP that you referenced was designed for this exact scenario.

  • In the Mighty Cord Generator Adapter for RV Power Cord # A10-G30450VP that you referenced there are 6 and 8 gauge wires used. The big difference between this and the Camco part # CAM55422 that you would notice is the handle that the Camco has on the female side. This has a larger handle which would help make unplugging a bit easier since it's something solid you can grab onto. If you have limited clearance the Mighty Cord would be the better option as it does not have this.
