Installed as a replacement for an old 6 gallon Atwood; huge improvement. Way less wasted gas and it could not be easier to set the desired heat. The install was fairly straightforward, although the orientation of the inlet/outlet was different enough from the old unit that I had to redo the water lines. The sheet metal screws on the bottom also protrude beyond the bottom of the unit and I ended up shaving down the linoleum to get it to fit.

Just got it installed on 1-19-21 and it has worked flawlessly so far. Have to use the cold water to adjust temp as it 's flowing until you find the happy medium, but love it. Should have done it years ago. No more 5 minute showers and waiting for hot water to recirc for clothes washer.

Review from a similar Furrion Tankless in RV Water Heaters

5 stars for etrailer and Will specifically. The first unit we got was a lemon. After replacing the motherboard that furrion sent us under warranty it still wasn’t working properly. Contacting furrion was pointless. They didn’t have any replacements in stock so with them we were out of luck. Thank God we purchased from etrailer! Will (who is literally the best customer service rep I’ve ever dealt with from any company) helped us out immediately. He sent us a replacement almost overnight along with a prepaid shipping return label for the lemon. This new one worked like a champ. The few cons I will say I’ve encountered with this water heater... sometimes it has a mind of its own and the temperature will just climb all the way up to 124 and then come back down even though it’s set at 95. I have no idea why it does this, fortunately it doesn’t happen very often. I cannot get a lukewarm shower very easily, if I turn on the cold water to cool it off it either makes the hot water heat up more to compensate or completely turns off the hot water. That’s kinda annoying. Sometimes it won’t even do 95, it starts at like 102 or higher, I’m thinking it’s bc it’s summer and the ground water is just too warm? Idk but that’s kinda frustrating too. Sometimes it’s hot out and you don’t want a hot shower but not a freezing one either, somewhere in the middle is ideal and on those days it’s hard to get the right temperature. Another issue is a design flaw so that when It rains, water gets in the exhaust hole and it will prevent the water heater from turning on. My husband put duct tape over it to create a flap which looks [bad] but works well. Haven’t had a problem since. Furrion would do well to create a flap for the exhaust hole to prevent this issue. Other than that, it does heat on demand as it should and keeps the temperature well. I love having endless hot water in the shower, especially since we have multiple people showering daily. Because it works on low pressure we have no need to install a separate pressure regulator as many have to do with the other brands available. We’ve never had an issue with it working no matter what water pressure we have. Overall I would definitely recommend this one. It can operate on lower pressure than the other ones out there and is more powerful. The control monitor is perfect too. We placed ours in the bathroom by the shower since we knew that would be the only time We’d want to adjust the water temp. It works well, has advantages over the others on the market and is a little cheaper to boot.

Comments
Thank you for your review. The hot water heather has a default temperature of 115 F which is why it gets hotter initially.

Review from a similar Furrion Tankless in RV Water Heaters

After much research I ordered this tankless water heater and installed. It works great, hot water is available in less than 30 seconds. There were a couple small issues I corrected on install, the screws protruding from the bottom of the unit were a bit to long not allowing the unit to set flat and my preference on the split plastic door latch next to the heat exhaust I change to a steel washer to prevent loosing the heater door.

Review from a similar Furrion Tankless in RV Water Heaters

Installed myself in about 3 hours (I am an electrician, so somewhat mechanically handy) works very good, my wife dreaded taking showers but now says it's better than our house. We set the temp a little high and always add cold water to adjust. Heard others say an on demand shuts down when you add cold water but this has never happened in this unit. Best upgrade i have done so far.

Review from a similar Furrion Tankless in RV Water Heaters

Installation was easy. I needed to run a ground to the body of the unit for my control center to work correctly. My tank/battery level lights would not work until I did. Hot water flowed quickly to my faucets and shower.

Simple to install, works awesome at 50 psi. As for my application I wish the door was bigger, it doesn't cover the old hole the Atwood I replaced was in.

Heater operates very well as advertised. Exterior door to frame fit is too tight & difficult to open. I replaced the original six gallon heater in my trailer.

The measurement does not take into account for the canister for the propane on the back of the unit.

Great product. A little time consuming to install but that was due to tight spaces and water line configuration. Works great. No more lukewarm showers.

Ask the Experts about this Furrion RV Water Heaters

  • How to Determine if Furrion Water Heater is Correct Replacement for Atwood OD-5001
It is possible this Furrion unit will work as a replacement for your Atwood OD-5001 but it depends on the cut out space you have, as well as door size. The Atwood had different door sizes available, but from what I can tell (the Atwood water heater has long been discontinued) it measured 12" tall x 12-1/2" wide x 14-1/2" deep. The Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR68SR you asked about measures 12-5/8" tall x 12-13/16" wide x 19-3/16" deep so it would require quite a bit more depth....

  • Best Way to Determine Fit of Tankless Water Heater in 5th Wheel Trailer
Really the best way to determine the fit of a tankless water heater in your 5th wheel is by the size of the cut out you have. This is the most important thing in regards to a fit, but of course you will also need to have connections there for propane and 12 volt power, though those will already be there from your previous water heater, assuming you had a gas/12 volt heater. So what you will need to do is know the size of your cut out, and you can choose the right tankless heater that way....

  • Do Furrion or Fogatti Tankless RV Water Heaters Use More Propane Than Tank Heaters
Excellent question, and tankless water heaters like those from Furrion or Fogatti will actually use less propane than their tank counterparts. The reason for that is the tankless heaters only use propane as the water is being used, so if you hop in for a quick shower, for example, propane will only be used when you have the hot water on. Tank heaters, on the other hand, heat the whole tank of water (and take much longer to heat), so even if you don't use the whole tank of hot water with...

  • Will the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater Work In Freezing Temperatures
The Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater part # FR68SR will work in an ambient temperature down to 32 degrees Fahrenheit. If you will be experiencing freezing temperatures long term then it is recommend to winterize the unit. If the temperature just drops to below freezing overnight though this would not damage the unit.

  • Tankless Replacement Water Heater for Atwood G6A-8E

  • Tankless Water Heater For A Mercedes Itasca Motor Home With A Cutout Of 12.5" Tall x 16" Wide
For your Mercedes Itasca Motor Home I recommend Item # FR68SR. This heater measures 12-5/8" Tall x 12-13/16" Wide x 19-3/16" Deep which is a little smaller than the current measurements you provided however; the door is 18" x 18" with a mounting flange to fit the door and tank. This unit also has a wall mounted controller that displays and allows you to adjust the time, temperature and water pressure. It is also equipped with a low water pressure alarm and duel temperature censors that...

  • Best Tankless Replacement Water Heater for Atwood G6A-8E
I suggest the Furrion Tankless Water Heater, # FR68SR as this would be closest in dimension to what you have including door size, which is 18"x18". This is designed to replace 4 - 6 gallon water heaters and has a wall mounted controller. The tankless design has a heating capacity of 2.4 gallons per minute. So, you'll have an instantaneous and consistent supply of hot water without having to wait for a tank to fill. With this 60,000 BTU capacity it heats water fast even when temperatures...

The Atwood # AT94022 measures 16" tall, 15-1/2" wide, and 20-7/8" deep, so it is taller and wider, so you should have the space; the Atwood also uses a 17-3/4" tall x 18"...
