Video Transcript for Review of Atwood RV Water Heaters - Standard Water Heater - AT96110

Today we're going to take a look at the Atwood RV 8,800 BTU gas water heater with a manual pilot and a six gallon tank. Now this is a quick recovery gas water heater. Provides a nice long lasting supply of hot water with a nice small lightweight tank. Produces up to 12 gallons of hot water per hour.Does use an aluminum clad tank to reduce calcium buildup and limit corrosion. Eliminates the need for an anode rod. The hot water outlet right here, you can see both water outlets.

There's a hot water outlet right on the top and a cold water inlet on the bottom. They're both a half inch NTT connection.Let me drop the door down here and we'll show you the propane gas pilot. If we just twist that, drop the door down, there's your propane gas pilot. You manually lit to heat water once your destination is reached. And it'll supply hot water in less than a half an hour.

Does relight automatically until the flames blown out.Does use a U shaped flu tube to distribute more heat from the burner out to the water, gives you an 80% heating efficiency rating. And the gas line right here, which you connect your gas line to, is a three eighths inch layered LP gas line.It is thermostatically controlled to prevent overheating. Has a high temperature limit switch that'll automatically shut off the unit. And it does have a pressure relief valve here to prevent excessive water expansion. And there is an air pocket in the tank to keep the valve from dripping in your cabinet.

Does use a combustion shutter to adjust the oxygen level in your pilot light for high altitudes, and it's externally sealed to keep the unit clean. The drain plug on it is nylon to help prevent rust. And I hooked the door up and you can see it's a nice white access door. It's all included. The serviceable parts are all very easy to access behind the door here. It is an open unit.

Can be hooked up and tested before your sidewalls are sealed. We'll just go ahead and close the door and then you'll just twist that, it'll hold your door closed. There's a little see-through here. You can see the pilot light to make sure it's lit. This unit is very small, lightweight, for a nice easy fit on your RV's cabinet. The weight of it is only about 19 pounds. It is CSA certified. It is made in the USA. It has a 12 volt DC connection. Heating capacity, again, is 8,800 BTUs. A few dimensions on this. I'm going to first measure the doors, which is the widest part. It's going to be right at 18 inches wide. The height on the door is 14 and a half inches tall. And again, if we drop the door down just to measure the actual heater unit itself, it's going to be right at inside to inside, 16 inches wide, 12 and a half inches tall inside to inside, and total depth is right at 18 inches deep. And as we mentioned, the tank capacity on this is going to be six gallons. So if we just go ahead and close our door and then twist this, then it'll hold it all into place. Comes with a nice set of detailed instructions on how to hook everything up. Has some mounting corner brackets for installing it. But that should do it for the review on the Atwood RV 8,800 BTU gas water heater with a manual pilot and a six gallon tank.

  • Replacement Water Heater for an Atwood G6A6 6 Gallon Water Heater
  • Thank you for all of the pictures and information! I spoke with my contact at Dometic (who took over the Atwood water heaters) and she said that the correct replacement for your G6A6 water heater on your 1983 Coachman motorhome is the Atwood RV Water Heater # AT96110. This is a 6 gallon water heater with a heating capacity of 8,800 Btu. I am not sure what exact dimensions your current heater has but this one measures 12-1/2" tall x 16" wide x 18" deep so you can use these measurements...

  • Replacement for Atwood 93756 Water Heater
  • I spoke with my contact at Dometic/Atwood regarding your existing model 93756 Water Heater. She stated that as long as your water heater has a 6 gallon capacity the Atwood RV Water Heater # AT96110 that you referenced will be a direct replacement. You will not need to make any kind of modifications or redo the gas line when making this switch. The unit has a heating capacity of 8,800 Btu and measures 12-1/2 inches tall, 16 inches wide, and 18 inches deep. Its gas line has a 3/8 inch...

  • Troubleshooting Atwood g6a-7 Water Heater With Pilot that Won't Stay Lit
  • The next thing I'd check is the thermostatic control valve. The gas supply to the pilot assembly is controlled by this valve. Since your thermocoupler has already been replaced, it is likely this valve is bad and won't allow the proper gas flow.

  • Water Heater Replacement Recommendation for 6 Gallon Gas Heater
  • I'd recommend having an HVAC person look at what you have if you want to decide if it's worth trying to repair or replace the entire unit so that you bypass all the problems. Due to the age and the issues you described it would be really hard to determine what would work best over email. For a 6 gallon gas water heater the Atwood part # AT96110 would be a great choice.

  • Troubleshooting Atwood Gas RV Water Heater That Won't Ignite
  • There could be several causes for the non-functioning gas water heater in your RV. The thermocouple could be bad; we offer several lengths of replacement, such as 12-inch # CAM09253, 18-inch # CAM09273 and 36-inch # CAM09333. All are universal-fit items from Camco. If your RV has a master switch like # AT91959 then this could be the cause of the issue. A bad thermostat might also be the culprit. We offer replacement # CAM08143. You may also have only a loose connection, which would...

  • Yes, you can replace your 10 gallon Atwood RV Water Heater like part # AT94180 with a 6 gallon Atwood RV Water Heater # AT96110. You will produce less hot water per hour but apart from that and the size of the heater and tank you'll be heating these two units are the same.

  • Troubleshooting RV Water Heater Heating Water But No Hot Water at Faucets
  • If your hot water heater heats up as you have stated but you don't have hot water at your faucets, it sounds like you may have a bypass for winterization that hasn't been reset to work properly. It could be that your valve is in the correct position on the outside and yet the internal valve is not functional. • Atwood Water Heater AT96110 to Replace Model G6A-7SP
  • I contacted Atwood/Dometic concerning your water heater model G6A-7SP and I was advised that this model RV water heater is to be serviced only by a factory authorized repair agent. It is not designed for service by the end user. Based on your photo I see no reason for the threads on the regulator to be stuck; there is, as you noted, no sign of corrosion. Atwood recommended that for your safety you replace the unit with the part # AT96110.

  • Will Atwood Water Heater # AT96110 Work Well in Chalet Camper
  • The Atwood Water Heater part # AT96110 that you referenced does not come with a template to use for installation because Atwood recommend that install and service must be performed by a qualified installer, service agency, or gas supplier. This would be a good choice for your application and needs though. It does a great job heating water and runs off of propane. The tank size is 6 gallon which would work fine for the needs you have.

  • How to Find Replacement Water Heater for 1983 Pace Arrow RV

With this in mind the Atwood RV Water Heater # AT96110 should work nicely as a replacement but you will still want to compare its specs to what you have to...
