Video Transcript for Atwood RV Water Heaters - Standard Water Heater - AT94186 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're gonna take a look at the Atwood 120 volt gas and electric quick recovery RV water heater. Now, this RV water heater uses a gas pilot light, and an internal electric heating element to get hot water ready fast. The unit's very small and light weight for a nice easy fit in your RV's cabinet. It is a quick recovery water heater, so it does provide nice long-lasting supply of hot water with a small, light weight tank. It can produce up to 20 gallons of hot water per hour. Does have a propane gas pilot.

Let me just drop the door down so we can talk about the inside here.Right here is your propane gas pilot. This must be manually lit to heat the water once your destination is reached. Does automatically relight until your flame is blown out. Does use a U-shaped flew tube to distribute more heat from the burner out to the water, and it has about an 80% heating efficiency rating. Does use an electric heating element to assist the flew tube to heat the water faster, and it's an incoloy construction to prevent burnout. The tank itself ...

let me just spin this around. You see it's insulated. But the tank is actually an aluminum-clad tank. This will reduce calcium build up, limits corrosion, and eliminates the need for an anode rod. It is thermostatically-controlled to prevent overheating.

Has a high temperature limit switch that automatically shut off the unit. Has a pressure relief valve up here that will prevent excessive water expansion. Uses an air pocket in the tank that keeps the valve from dripping in your cabinet. Has a combustion shutter, which will adjust your oxygen level in the pilot light for high altitudes. And, it's externally sealed to keep the unit clean.

The drain plug right down here is nylon, that's help to prevent rust. And, most all of the serviceable parts are accessible from the external RV door. This open unit can be hooked up and tested before the side walls are sealed. It is lightweight, compact for an easy fit, CSA certified, made in the USA.Let me just go ahead and close the door on it. Now, the heating capacity on this is gonna be 10,000 BTUs. Tank capacity is 10 gallons. Total weight of this is only about 24 pounds. Wattage is 1400 watts. The gas line that goes in to connects is a . uses a three eighths inch outer diameter. A few dimensions on this I wanna give. First the door dimensions, and then the overall water heater dimensions. So, if we go the width on the door is right at 18 inches. See if we can get it up here. There we go. Right at 18 inches. The height on it is gonna be 17 and three quarter inches. That's on the door. Now, on the water heater itself, the overall width is gonna be right at 15 and a half inches. The overall height is right at 16 inches tall. And, the overall depth of the unit is gonna be right at 21 inches deep.Does come with a nice set of detailed instructions and manual on how to operate everything . brackets to install it. But, that should do it for the review on the Atwood 120 volt gas and electric quick recovery RV water heater.

Do you have a question about this RV Water Heater?

  • Troubleshooting Atwood RV Water Heater
  • The first thing to do is check any fuses that may have blown, which you can do yourself and replace as needed. If a blown fuse isn't the problem, it is a very good idea to contact the installers of your Atwood RV Water Heater # AT94186 to have them take a look (this does require professional installation) as it could be any number of factors that have caused it to stop heating water. It could be that the heating element has somehow gone bad and would require a Replacement Electric Heating...

  • Can Atwood 94186 RV Water Heater Work on Electricity Only
  • The Atwood RV Water Heater - Gas and Electric - Manual Pilot - 120 Volt - 10,000 Btu - 10 Gal Tank # AT94186 will work on electric only but it will take almost twice as long to heat the water than if you were using gas and electric. It will meet your desired need but you will need to plan ahead more and be strategic with your hot water use as it can take up to an hour or longer to heat your water.

  • Does Atwood Gas/Electric RV Water Heater AT94186 Heat Faster with Electricity or Propane
  • Thank you for your purchase of the Atwood Gas and Electric 10-Gallon Water Heater # AT94186 to replace your RV's failed unit. In most RV applications an electric power source will tend to be more consistent than a gas source and so for that reason Atwood's technician told me that in typical use electric power delivers faster heating of the water. This is not a rule so much as simply the typical behavior of these devices. RV gas pressure can change quite a bit from when a tank is full...

  • Is an Outside Vent Needed for a Atwood RV Water Heater
  • The dimensions of the Atwood RV Water Heater part # AT94186 are 16" tall x 15-1/2" wide x 20-7/8" deep. Therefore, you will need at least this much space to mount the unit. The access door to the water heater should have a vent but nothing else is needed. This unit puts out 20 gallons of hot water per hour. I am sure this will be plenty for your needs but it really comes down to how much you will be using hot water and how many appliances you have that run off hot water. It is an excellent...

  • Limit Switch Wiring for an Atwood Water Heater EHP10
  • I would love to help but the issue is that your Atwood Water Heater EHP10 is obsolete and has been for a very long time. I spoke to my contact at Atwood/Dometic and they informed me that there is no replacement wiring harness for the limit switch. Therefore, your only option is going to be a full replacement and for that we have the Atwood RV Water Heater part # AT94186 which has a 10 gallon capacity just like you have now but is both gas and electric whereas yours I believe is only...
