Video Transcript for Maxxair RV Vents and Fans - Roof Vent - MA00-03700 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Max Air Mini, trailer roof fit. The Max Air Mini roof fit is designed for non-powered bathroom and galley vents. It protects against rain, bugs, and debris, whether the vent is open or closed. It has the integrated rain shield which prevents rain water from entering your RV or trailer and that eliminates the need to install a separate vent cover. This unit is a manual, non-powered, design. It's very easy to use and operate. So, this is the portion that would be visible from inside your trailer or RV.

You have the lever right here that can move it to a closed position, and it slides over to an open position. So the manual, non-powered design is super simple to use. It also has the bug screen to keep insects out. That can easily be moved for cleaning or for maintenance. Here on the backside, we have the angled louvers, which allows odors and stale air to easily escape. And, once installed, this unit provides a seamless, low-profile appearance. The top of the unit is white in color.

It installs into any 14" x 14" opening. The flange sleeve and hardware, as well as instructions, all of that's included. The only thing that's not included that you may need is some type of sealant to go around the mounting perimeter, to create a nice, tight, seal and seal up the opening that this installs in.So keep that in mind. That is sold separately. We have some options at etrailer.com to check out.

So if you need some, definitely check out the options at etrailer.comThe then opening diameter, that's basically the diameter measurement of the bug screen right here. That's ten and a half inches. It fits roofs anywhere from one inch to four and a half inches thick. And I also took overall measurements. So, outer edge to outer edge measured 16 and a half inches by 16 and a half inches.

And once installed, this unit sits about four inches above the roof. So again, a nice, low-profile, design.Multiple pieces. So you have your upper, which would be on top of your RV or trailer roof. And then you have the sleeve right here. And you have the lower portion which is where the actual vent or slides are located. So, really nice and then it comes with all the necessary hardware. Again, the only thing that you may need that's not included is the appropriate sealant that needs to be used when installing. That's gonna do it for today's look at the Max Air Mini, trailer roof fit.

Final result is nice. I'm really pleased with the low profile on the roof. It's kind of a hassle to install. They should rethink the piece that connects the roof section to the ceiling section. Make it telescope so you don't have to cut it.

Air exit was partially blocked by a plastic shroud, greatly reducing the airflow. I planned to use it for the exhaust of my portable A/C, but just wouldn't work. So I returned it.

Review from a similar Mini in RV Vents and Fans

I am happy with this fan in my Ford Transit Connect. It is a standard height SWB Transit so I didn't feel I needed a more powerful fan. I like the built in light. I need this to fit in my garage so this fit the bill for a reasonable price. I will be running it off a portable power station and solar to charge the power bank. My van already had a popup vent installed so this should move some air through nicely. The installation after watching a few videos went smooth and took a few hours. I cut the roof hole, put down butyl tape and self leveling lap sealant. My roof is thinner so I did not need to use the middle extension piece. I did use my own 1" self taping screws. I would say I have moderate skills with tools and measuring. My electrical skills are minimal but I did not have any issues with this. Just put it in this morning so I haven't camped with it yet.

Easy to install. Has worked daily for the last year. Does not provide nearly the air flow of larger versions, but helps keep the stale air out. Excellent customer service from etrailer.

Review from a similar Mini in RV Vents and Fans

So far so good. It lets very little light through from outside, in the main living space I would like this, as I have kids who are still at the napping age. in the bathroom I don’t like it so much. Other than that it appears to be well made. Installation was a pain, but no fault of this unit. The old butyl tape was a lot of work to get off the roof.

Review from a similar Mini in RV Vents and Fans

I purchased from etrailer a Maxxair Mini RV Vent and Fan and after owning it for a year I’m still pleased with the reliability and quality of the system. The installation was so easy that even I could do it! My wife and I camp with the kids, their friends and other family members, so the fan gets a work out to say the least! I have already recommended etrailer and Maxxair to other campers so if you are asking me then go for it! I have experience with etrailer and their customer service is on point.

This fan is still working great and the surrounding light kit is futuristic. My old fan kit was dated so my wife was pleased to see the update! Thank you for the opportunity to offer my feedback and if it ever wears out I will surely be back!!!

this is the second one i have purchased. they are a bit expensive, so i didnt buy two. i was so happy with the first one i bought a second for my trailer where i store my scuba gear. The fan pulls the moisture out and the LED lights the interior. these units pull very little current. i have a garden tractor battery in my trailer with a solar charger, and this works great.

The max air functions nicely, but the interior plastic holding the actual fan is so thin it sags between the screws, leaving a poor appearance. I had previously purchased a MaxxAir fan with remote control and that interior piece did not sag. Also, the sealant I got with that order self-leveled very nicely.

This vent works great as my bathroom also has a window so I really didn’t need a regular vent that opens. I couldn’t be happier with it. The LED light is a nice touch.

The package was delivered on time and looks great! It was missing 2 screws but otherwise its great. Also would be a good idea to send the required butyl tape and a small tube of caulking to make it a complete kit.

Review from a similar Mini in RV Vents and Fans

I used this vet to replace the crank up vent in my bathroom. I was a bit disappointed that it doesn't let in as much natural light and the vent I was replacing, but with the build in LEDs the lack of light was manageable. However the plastic cover isn't quite strong enough to hold up to Texas hail storms and I found broken louvers and a large crack in the vent cover after one bad storm. It isn't leaking (yet) but when it does and I have to replace it I'm not sure I'll install another one of these.

Very windy here right now so have not started install. Appears that the vent is going to be tight in the opening. The old top was torn off in the last wind even though it was closed at the time & the r v was parked. Will see how it goes tomorrow morning.

  • Roof Vent for Roof That is 1-3/4 Inches Thick
You can absolutely install a roof vent in you roof that is 1-3/4 inches thick; all you need is the MaxxAir Mini Trailer Roof Vent, which fits roofs that are between 1 inch and 4-1/2 inches thick. You can choose from either white or black in color. - Black: MaxxAir Mini Trailer Roof Vent # MA00-03750 - White: MaxxAir Mini Trailer Roof Vent # MA00-03700 This vent comes with the flange, sleeve, and hardware for installation, with the only other thing you'll need being sealant, and...

  • Can Maxxair RV Roof Vent/ Fans MA00-03700 Be Mounted on a Wall
The MaxxAir # MA00-03700 roof vent/fan you mentioned can indeed be mounted to a wall instead of the ceiling/roof. This being said, the wall will either need to be at least 1 inch thick, or you'll need to add some furring around the rough opening to make the wall thickness at least 1 inch. Being mounted on the vertical could make the vent assembly more prone to water intrusion, so you'll want to do a good job sealing the flange of the vent to the side or the trailer. A vent install kit...

  • Is the MaxxAir Mini Trailer Roof Vent # MA00-03700 Plastic or Metal
The MaxxAir Mini Trailer Roof Vent # MA00-03700 that you referenced is made out of a durable plastic that actually does a really good job against the sun. If you wanted a total metal vent then you could use the Ventline Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent # V2110SP-24 which is also a manually operated vent. The thing about this kit though is that it will keep out bugs and debris when left open but not rain. To keep it open while it is raining you would need to use a cover like the MaxxAir Standard...

  • Height of MaxxAir Mini Trailer Roof Vent # MA00-03700 Once Installed on RV
Yes, the MaxxAir Mini Trailer Roof Vent # MA00-03700 will only sit about 4" tall once installed as it does mount flush on the roof. The portion under that upper flange can be adjusted depending on how thick your RV roof is (it fits roofs 1" - 4-1/2" thick). I am not sure what MaxxAir vents you are currently using but you should be able to easily determine if these will allow you to pull into your shed without removing anything by simply measuring the difference between the height of...

  • Why Can't MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan be Installed Above Tub/Shower
While we have heard of people using electrical vents like the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # MA00-06401K above a tub/shower, it is not meant to be installed in that location because water from the shower (whether it is from steam or from someone dancing around while singing in the shower) can harm the electrical components and cause the vent to fail. This is the same reason why you shouldn't use this above a range cooking surface either. If you like the idea of having a rain cover...

  • Roof Vent Recommendation for 20 foot Car Hauler Trailer
Normally I would say you would probably get by with 1 but since you'll be in a hotter climate in Florida I'd say go ahead and install 2 if you're planning on keeping them open during storage. If you're hesitant, you can always start off with 1 vent and then add another if you feel that it's needed. I'm assuming that you aren't looking for a powered vent. If that's the case then I highly recommend going with the MaxxAir Mini which comes in Black # MA00-03750 or White # MA00-03700. The...

  • Using Powered Vent Fan In RV Bathroom
It's not recommended that powered vents be used over a stove or in a bathroom because the additional condensation in the air can harm the electrical components in the fan motor. You could use a vent without a fan like # MA00-03700, but a fan installed in a bathroom or over a stove would have a shorter life expectancy.

  • Insulator For MaxxAir Mini Trailer Roof Vent
The insulators for standard 14x14 roof vents like part # CAM45192 do not fit into the vent opening of the MaxxAir Mini Roof Vent part # MA00-03700. The actual vent opening of the MaxxAir is 10-1/2" so the 14 inch insulator is not going to fit into the opening. The MaxxAir mini Roof Vent fits roofs that are 1" to 4-1/2" thick. I recommend Camco retractable shade part # CAM42913. The shade attaches to the garnish of the roof vent and extends to 19 inches long to block the light when you...

  • Trailer Roof Vent Replacement For Thin Roof
Replacement screens are designed to fit specific models of trailer vents, and there isn't an option for one with similar dimensions to yours. Since the company went out of business and there aren't going to be replacements, the only recommendation I can offer is a new vent. It sounds like you have the standard 14" x 14" roof vent (technically it is 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" though), and a thin roof based on the garnish dimensions. So for that the best option is the MaxxAir Mini Trailer Roof...

  • Why Aren't Powered Roof Vent Fans Recommended Above Showers and Cooktops in RVs
Because of the high humidity environment around showers and range cooking surfaces, it isn't recommended that a powered vent like the # MA00-04002K fan be used in those areas. The high humidity will dramatically shorten the lifespan of the circuit boards and motors of a powered fan. You can certainly install the fan, but you'll likely not be pleased by how long it would last. In that kind of environment, a manual vent like # MA00-03700 is what's recommended. It sounds like the original vent lid on your 2004 Jayco Eagle could have been a custom part since all of the continuous hinge lids we sell, shown on the linked page, have their lid actuator channel centered on the lid.
