Built-In Rain Shield

MaxxFan Deluxe Rain Shield

The MaxxFan Deluxe has a built-in rain shield that, along with the dome, surrounds and encloses the vent opening. The shield blocks rainwater and other precipitation from entering through the vent and damaging the interior of your RV or trailer. This means you can run the fan during any weather without having to worry about the consequences. With the rain shield, there is also no need to install a separate vent cover.

The white dome on the rain shield is constructed of durable high-density polypropylene. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance.

Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxFan Deluxe Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.

To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on either the remote control or keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on either the remote or keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.

This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Remote Control and Keypad

Remote for MaxxFan Plus

The remote control has a built-in LCD screen so that it's easy to see the current settings. The remote enables you to operate the vent and fan from afar, including opening or closing the dome and turning the fan on or off. With the remote, you can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

The remote comes with a cradle, which mounts to the wall. When it's not in use, the remote can be stored in the cradle. Hardware and 2 AAA batteries are included. The low-battery indicator located on the top-center area of the screen lets you know when it's time to change the batteries.

Keypad for MaxxFan Deluxe

Like the remote control, the flush-mounted keypad on the vent allows you to operate the vent, the fan, and the thermostat.

Powered-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxFan Deluxe Open

This powered-lift vent opens and closes automatically, which means no hand cranking is needed. And unlike a vent that has only 1 arm, this dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will stay open during high winds or while you are driving.

MaxxFan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome if your RV loses power.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxFan Deluxe Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

Installation

The MaxxFan Deluxe vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The included mounting flange is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, first secure the mounting flange to the roof. Then connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Next insert the vent into the flange and fasten it down using the metal mounting points on the flange. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

Product came in on time, no damage. Very good information on the installation. Removing the old vent was the most difficult in this process. The installation of the new vent took less than half of the time of the removal of the old vent! Looks very good in and out, very happy with the end result and product!!! 386035

This is a good unit overall. It does have an issue with turning on by itself from time to time. Normally it works well to regulate the temp in the coach-- 550023

Fan came in a ragged box, but everything was there and undamaged. Install into a pre-existing 14"x14" hole with good bracing was easy. The flange holes even lined up! Just be sure to plan wiring ahead of time! 644348

Fit perfectly into existing vent. Ran wiring up behind refrigerator. Can be set to run either on thermostat or manually. Really nice rain good. Now I can keep my camper vented by moving the hot air out in between trips and blow cool air in at night to sleep without all the noise from the air conditioner fan. Very pleased. 698187

Best RV fan design on the market delivered without issues. This is the second one I am adding to my Promaster van build. It will go in an aluminum panel that will replace one of the rear door windows. The two fans will afford flow through ventilation soas to minimize the need to run the rooftop ac unit. 827979

Great product! It was easy for me to cut the square hole to size needed for the fan to fit properly. What I like about the fan is it has a remote and manual control. It is also reversible. It can be used as a ceiling fan. It has 10 speeds in both directions. Works great and not a problem at all. It exhausts the hot air out of my van quickly when needed. Simply put its a great product. I liked it so much that I purchased one for my motorhome. 818330

We just received and installed these Maxxair Deluxe fans and absolutely love them. We installed these ourselves and couldn’t be happier. Our reason for ordering these fans was simply so we could have the remote and ceiling fan option. Our previous fans did not have a switch, we are too short to reach them and a step stool is a pain. The install went well and was more time consuming than anything. Otherwise not a challenge at all. The reason for the 4-star vs the 5-star is nothing on etrailer’s part but on the fan itself. We went with white vs smoke in hopes to let more light into the coach but they in fact let in less light than if we were to go with smoke. And also the white fans cast a pinky-orangey hue which isn’t necessarily a deal breaker but would’ve been nice to know ahead of time because we would’ve ordered smoke. Other than that the fans are phenomenal. etrailer, as always, is on top of the game and got these out to us fast and customer service rocks as always!! 806910

Thus far I have no complaints with the Maxxair unit. It has a good air flow on high and soft flow on low in both directions with one or two windows cracked. It is so much quieter than those older single speed units in campers owned in the past. I also enjoy the covered top so rain does not get in especially when you forget to close it and leave. Worth the extra cost. 804152

We've had this vent fan on our fifth wheel for about a year now. It continues to work well. It is installed in the kitchen/dining area. The ceiling is high enough that we can't reach it without either a step stool or a mechanical arm, so having the ability to control this by remote makes it the perfect vent fan for this area. Highly recommend this unit. 776427

After having this installed in my van for almost a year, I likely wouldn't go with the same fan when/if I do this again. The van moves quite a bit of air, which is nice, though there are some things that I am less than pleased about: - If the vent is open and the fan is running, there is no way to simply shut off the fan and keep the lid open. To do this, one must turn the fan off, which closes the lid, and then the lid must be opened. I have contacted the manufacturer's support and they confirmed there is no way to stop the fan while keeping the lid open. I am surprised how often I want to do this and it's kind of annoying because ... - The motor to lift the lid is quite noisy. So, if I want to perform the action in the first point (turn the fan off, keep lid open) in the middle of the night, the fan lid must close and then must be reopened, which means the lid motor must rust twice in the middle of a quiet night. - The remote is a bit flaky where it doesn't turn on or respond without rotating the batteries (I've tried changing the batteries) or giving the remote a soft whack. Installation was pretty easy and straightforward for doing something like this for the first time. I made an additional mounting frame to fit on the inside of the van roof and I used a custom adapter on top of the van roof to make a flat surface for the fan. I used longer hardware to bolt the fan through the roof given the thicker than usual mounting material. 775763

The concept here is good but the design not great. There needs to be a simple option to keep the louver open (until switched) to outside air even as you are using and not using the fan. Additionally the IR (LED & remote) feature is unusable in a conventional RV where the roof is over an inch or so thick and as a result the control panel is recessed so much, the line of sight IR control is not possible from anywhere except directly under the fan. The IR sensitivity also is one of the lowest of any electronic equipment I have ever owned (you'll likely need a IR transponder to control from anywhere except directly under). I somewhat resolved this issue by installing an aux IR receiver and transmitter but that can ad to the boondocking phantom battery drain and doesn't respond as great through the remote as when the remote is directly under and pointed at the unit but it does make the remote usable for example from a distant bedroom. There's also confusion over the difference between manual mode and when switching "AUTO" on, it doesn't seem to always go to thermostat mode even though you hear the beep from the unit and the remote says "AUTO". Overall I like the fan, but it seems like there's still a few bugs for them to work out with future editions. The noise with the vent opening mechanism should likely be addressed and the fan is noisy at full speed but this is likely a limitation of both physics and the physical area this unit has to work within. In fairness, on low it can barely be heard. Also the thermometer seems to sense more relative to the outdoor temp than the indoor which I can understand will be a result of everything being in the same box with no "totally indoor" sensor. As a product designer I would likely add dual "plug-able" IR sensors, one with flush mount and an alternative one with a short cable with self-adhesive for adding to the frame where the device would have a wide vision of the remote, directed from anywhere in the coach. I'd also add a switch or additional remote control feature to disable the vent where it could be left open or closed when the device was powered off and on. Otherwise it's a bit pricey and even with these quirks still seems to be best if not the only offering in its class. 768169

By keeping the louver open I believe you are referencing keeping the vent lifted and open in order for air to move freely through the vent. The vent can be lifted via the remote by using the button in the lower left-hand corner. If your RV does not have power, you can also use the black knob on the unit itself to raise and lower the vent manually. The IR sensitivity is fairly low. This is to allow you to use the remote to control multiple vents in the same RV without getting signals crossed, or for your neighbor to accidentally open your vent with his remote in his RV. I have attached a video that covers the features of the both the base model and higher models of the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent.

The fan works very well, rain or shine. I won't list all the good points, because they are expected, but I have one criticism. When turning off the fan, the lid closes. If you want to keep the lid (vent) open you have to do a separate operation to re-open it. Unnecessary work for the lift motor and the operator. 767937

I bought two MaxxFans for a van conversion. The installation went well and so far I haven't had any leaks. I haven't wired the fans to power yet so they haven't been tested. I noticed that the very knowledgeable Greg Virgoe on [online video site] recently replaced his Fantastic fans in his van build with MaxxFans, so I feel good about my choice of MaxxFan. 726324
