Built-In Rain Shield

MaxxFan Deluxe Rain Shield

The MaxxFan Deluxe has a built-in rain shield that, along with the dome, surrounds and encloses the vent opening. The shield blocks rainwater and other precipitation from entering through the vent and damaging the interior of your RV or trailer. This means you can run the fan during any weather without having to worry about the consequences. With the rain shield, there is also no need to install a separate vent cover.

The white dome on the rain shield is constructed of durable high-density polypropylene. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance.

Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxFan Deluxe Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.

To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on either the remote control or keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on either the remote or keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.

This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Remote Control and Keypad

Remote for MaxxFan Plus

The remote control has a built-in LCD screen so that it's easy to see the current settings. The remote enables you to operate the vent and fan from afar, including opening or closing the dome and turning the fan on or off. With the remote, you can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

The remote comes with a cradle, which mounts to the wall. When it's not in use, the remote can be stored in the cradle. Hardware and 2 AAA batteries are included. The low-battery indicator located on the top-center area of the screen lets you know when it's time to change the batteries.

Keypad for MaxxFan Deluxe

Like the remote control, the flush-mounted keypad on the vent allows you to operate the vent, the fan, and the thermostat.

Powered-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxFan Deluxe Open

This powered-lift vent opens and closes automatically, which means no hand cranking is needed. And unlike a vent that has only 1 arm, this dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will stay open during high winds or while you are driving.

MaxxFan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome if your RV loses power.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxFan Deluxe Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

Installation

The MaxxFan Deluxe vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The included mounting flange is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, first secure the mounting flange to the roof. Then connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Next insert the vent into the flange and fasten it down using the metal mounting points on the flange. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

This was scary to install, but we followed the instructions carefully, and it works great! It is quiet and moves air in or out of our Transit Connect van very well. I'm very pleased we bought this unit. We marked and taped off the opening on the van roof, drilled the corners, then used a jigsaw with a metal blade to cut it out. We taped a garbage back underneath to catch metal shavings. The butyl sealant made a water-tight fit, and self-leveling caulk provided the final weatherproof seal. We added plywood on the inside of the roof to provide support, which was a good idea. Overall we love the fan!

The concept here is good but the design not great. There needs to be a simple option to keep the louver open (until switched) to outside air even as you are using and not using the fan. Additionally the IR (LED & remote) feature is unusable in a conventional RV where the roof is over an inch or so thick and as a result the control panel is recessed so much, the line of sight IR control is not possible from anywhere except directly under the fan. The IR sensitivity also is one of the lowest of any electronic equipment I have ever owned (you'll likely need a IR transponder to control from anywhere except directly under). I somewhat resolved this issue by installing an aux IR receiver and transmitter but that can ad to the boondocking phantom battery drain and doesn't respond as great through the remote as when the remote is directly under and pointed at the unit but it does make the remote usable for example from a distant bedroom. There's also confusion over the difference between manual mode and when switching "AUTO" on, it doesn't seem to always go to thermostat mode even though you hear the beep from the unit and the remote says "AUTO". Overall I like the fan, but it seems like there's still a few bugs for them to work out with future editions. The noise with the vent opening mechanism should likely be addressed and the fan is noisy at full speed but this is likely a limitation of both physics and the physical area this unit has to work within. In fairness, on low it can barely be heard. Also the thermometer seems to sense more relative to the outdoor temp than the indoor which I can understand will be a result of everything being in the same box with no "totally indoor" sensor. As a product designer I would likely add dual "plug-able" IR sensors, one with flush mount and an alternative one with a short cable with self-adhesive for adding to the frame where the device would have a wide vision of the remote, directed from anywhere in the coach. I'd also add a switch or additional remote control feature to disable the vent where it could be left open or closed when the device was powered off and on. Otherwise it's a bit pricey and even with these quirks still seems to be best if not the only offering in its class.

Comments
By keeping the louver open I believe you are referencing keeping the vent lifted and open in order for air to move freely through the vent. The vent can be lifted via the remote by using the button in the lower left-hand corner. If your RV does not have power, you can also use the black knob on the unit itself to raise and lower the vent manually. The IR sensitivity is fairly low. This is to allow you to use the remote to control multiple vents in the same RV without getting signals crossed, or for your neighbor to accidentally open your vent with his remote in his RV. I have attached a video that covers the features of the both the base model and higher models of the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent.

Would not recommend at this stage, as this is like any modern electronic equipment these days being actually a rental rather than a purchase. The concept is beautiful, but the application has shortcomings. The remote never worked have to stand directly under it for it to see the signal and the manual keyboard just failed about a month ago. Theres no water in it as others have described online search on problems before buying!. Theres also scores of problems with MaxxAir techs supposedly telling customers the unit fails because it is only for battery use and that 14.2V std alternators or 14.4V solar controllers put out a voltage they didnt take into account SERIOUSLY MaxxAir????. So while this is a marvel on the drawing board, better have a spare in the closet if you depend on it daily. Maybe they can add a voltage regulator, some waterproofing and a new IR sensor design for their remote and have a good product, but dont hold your breath.

Best RV fan design on the market delivered without issues. This is the second one I am adding to my Promaster van build. It will go in an aluminum panel that will replace one of the rear door windows. The two fans will afford flow through ventilation soas to minimize the need to run the rooftop ac unit.

Comments
Great-no issues with either of the two fans I installed on my Promaster. Spent 2 months in El Paso Tx and the fans were a blessing on days where we could get bu without the ac unit running full jam. Max we saw was 107 degrees. Was wondering how the unit I mounted vertically in the rear door would work out. No leaks and many nights we could get by running both around 40 with one blowing in and the other out using only about 4 amps at 12vdc.

We definitely recommend the MaxxAir fan! Bought it because my wife was standing on the edge of the shower and swatting the stock fan crank with her phone to get it open. Wanting something with a remote and great reviews, we bought this one. I'm as cheap as the day is long and abhor laying out this kind of money for a fan but after using it I have no regrets, and am actually considering buying another for the other bathroom. Install was a pain only because it took so long to pull up the caulking around the stock fan. After that it was quick and easy.

by:

I have had the MaxFan deluxe Roof Vent Fans for a year and it’s time for a review. I have one rhetorical question. Why do manufacturers put any other fan on their campers? Since I installed 2 of these on our Northern Lite camper, I have not had to worry that the camper would be hot if I left the old fans closed, or that rain would soak the floor if I left them open. These work great with full powered ventilation during a driving rain storm. I would never own another camper without these fans on them, period.

We installed this in our fifth wheel main living area because the ceiling height made a remote necessary. Installation was easy in our case. It is very quiet, works well and has been reliable. A few things we've noted: 1.) We have three different models of MaxxFans in our trailer and each has an unnecessarily dissimilar interface, ex., to power off, on one unit you press the power button multiple times and on another, there is a separate power off button. Second ex. , to change fan speed, one model you press the power button multiple times, on another, there are high-low speed arrow buttons. Of course, this is only an issue because we have three different models in our trailer. This model with the remote is certainly the most complex interface of our three versions.; 2.) The "ceiling fan mode" where the fan reverses and sends air into the room is not particularly effective because the blade is so close to the vent cover and can't move any air. Despite those two small issues, we are very happy with our purchase and would buy again. Also note that the white vent cover BLOCKS more light than the black. We didn't realize that at purchase and there is no way to change the vent cover once installed.

We just received and installed these Maxxair Deluxe fans and absolutely love them. We installed these ourselves and couldn’t be happier. Our reason for ordering these fans was simply so we could have the remote and ceiling fan option. Our previous fans did not have a switch, we are too short to reach them and a step stool is a pain. The install went well and was more time consuming than anything. Otherwise not a challenge at all. The reason for the 4-star vs the 5-star is nothing on etrailer’s part but on the fan itself. We went with white vs smoke in hopes to let more light into the coach but they in fact let in less light than if we were to go with smoke. And also the white fans cast a pinky-orangey hue which isn’t necessarily a deal breaker but would’ve been nice to know ahead of time because we would’ve ordered smoke. Other than that the fans are phenomenal. etrailer, as always, is on top of the game and got these out to us fast and customer service rocks as always!!

- MA00-07000K
by:

Should have done this upgrade years ago! Fan is great...waaay quieter and pulls more airflow (airflow vs the tiny manufacturer fan isn't even close). Only thing I may do differently is get the smoke color instead of white. Have a fear of the white plastic yellowing. Hasn't done it yet, but...who knows. In any event- wonderful product. Actually was using it in the rain this past weekend while camping, and obviously- no issues because of the nifty rain hood. Was nice not to have to scramble into the bathroom to shut the vent as with previous fan.

I was pleasently surprised to hear about the MAXXFAN Delux roof fan for my 58 Shasta rebuild. Got it yesterday. Been looking at the usual fans, but none of them offer what the Maxxfan does, etrailer was very quick on getting it to me, going in this weekend. Thanks

- MA00-07000K
by:

The fan is very nice overall. I was disappointed in the so called ceiling fan option. That is the only reason I didn't give 5 star rating. etrailer did a great job and shipping was faster then expected. Time will tell as to the quality of the fan.

- MA00-07000K
by:

Great upgrade from stock RV vents with 4" fan. These move more air with a lot less noise. Having the rain hood built in is much nicer than the after market covers. The remote is great for high ceilings of fifth wheels.

- MA00-07000K
by:

Love the fan and especially the ability to reverse the airflow. I'm still in the build-out stage of my school bus conversion, but the fan works great. So far, I'm a happy customer.

Comments
So far, so good. Like the comment above, you have to power it down just to leave the lid open. That needs a review by the designers.

The MaxxFan is a must have for any camper. it does a great job venting and cooling my camper. The remote and auto control are the best. I just bought my second Fan.

- MA00-07000K
by:

Fit perfectly into existing vent. Ran wiring up behind refrigerator. Can be set to run either on thermostat or manually. Really nice rain good. Now I can keep my camper vented by moving the hot air out in between trips and blow cool air in at night to sleep without all the noise from the air conditioner fan. Very pleased.

- MA00-07000K
by:

The fan works very well, rain or shine. I won't list all the good points, because they are expected, but I have one criticism. When turning off the fan, the lid closes. If you want to keep the lid (vent) open you have to do a separate operation to re-open it. Unnecessary work for the lift motor and the operator.

Comments
Still operates perfectly. Has been operating in a lot of rain and never has let any in. One note, the remote has lost the lower half of the bottom line of LCD letters. It has been ped a few times, so unsure of the cause.

Order was properly filled and delivery was very fast. I have not yet installed the MaxxFan in our van. Everything appears to be in order in terms of parts and nothing is visibly damaged. I appreciated most that etrailer did not increase the price between the time that I was researching the Maxxfan and when I purchased it the next day. One other site added $9.00 the next day...overnight inflation! Thank you, Louis

- MA00-07000K

Fan was easy to install and really pulls the hot air out of the rv. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the cover has a catch when it closes. The motor runs and the lid stops moving then jumps down.

Great product, I followed the instructions posted on the etrailer website and everything went perfectly. I didn’t even have to trim the inside cowling. I’ve included some pics with this review. Took all of 1 1/2 hrs from start to finish. This replaced a paddle fan in a destination trailer and it had already been framed for a 14” square hole.

Excellent fan with great features. It works great as an exhaust fan to remove kitchen smoke and odors due to the close proximity to our galley. The power and fan speed selection are great too. The only complaint I have is the seemingly poor range of the remote. It has to be with a foot or two of the fan to work.

Comments
Still impressed after a year of usage in our coach. The exhaust feature really pulls the air into the coach for quick cooling. The ceiling fan feature has come in handy in many occasions too. Still not happy with the poor range of the remote. Even with new batteries we still have have it within a foot or two of the fan for it to work.
Brian J - 03/31/2020

One benefit of the short range of the remote is that it will not cross-control other MaxxFans. If you have more than one in your RV, you won't accidentally change both of the fans at the same time.

  • Can Two Powered MaxxFan Deluxes be Used in RV without Remote Interference
You'd be fine using two of the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote # MA00-07000K in your RV and not have to worry about one remote operating both fans. These require a clear line of sight from the remote to the fan so only the fan in the room would operate.

  • Replacement RV Roof Vents with Rain Sensor or Rain Shield
The roof vents that have the rain sensor feature (to enable automatic closing of the vent when it rains) are not serviceable. The rain sensor element is integrated into the vent/fan. As for the wall control panel in your RV you will want to speak to the manufacturer (have your VIN handy) since we do not have information on such OEM switch setups. If you want to replace the vent unit you might consider the MaxxAir # MA00-07000K which has a rain shield, or the MaxxAir Plus # MA00-04500K,...

  • Troubleshooting MaxxAir Maxxfan 7000K Making Noises When Closing
I reached out to the manufacturer and their tech said he is confident the operator mechanism is what is causing your issue. You will want part # MA10-20281K-1AF to replace this and fix the issue.

  • Can MaxxAir MaxxFan Deluxe Be Mounted On Wall Of Trailer Instead Of Roof
I called my contact at MaxxAir and asked about the mounting of the MaxxAir MaxxFan Deluxe # MA00-07000K. They told me that it can be mounted on the side but would really increase the chance for water leaks as you mentioned. They said they have never tested an installation to the side of a trailer.

  • Warranty for MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-07000K
Yes, the manufacturer's warranty (2-year limited on vent assembly, limited lifetime on dome) for the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-07000K is absolutely effective and good if purchased through etrailer.com. This RV vent features a built-in rain shield, a reversible 10-speed fan, and a thermostat to regulate the airflow inside the RV. I have attached a short video demonstration on this unit that you can also take a look at.

  • Can I Travel With The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent Open In An Enclosed Trailer
Yes, I have confirmed with MaxxFan that you can travel with the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent part # MA00-07000K in the up position without damaging it. You won't need to have the cover like the more traditional vents because of it's more modern design. It will work in an enclosed trailer as long as the roof is between 1-1/8" and 6-1/2" thick, the roof cut out for the vent is 14"x14". The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent is powered by 12V, normally a 12V automotive battery or the equivalent. It draws...

  • Recommended Fan With Additional Speeds To Replace 3 Speed Fan In 2011 R Pod
I have a fan replacement option for you, but since your fan is only 3 speeds a 6, 10, or variable speed switch will not operate the fan. Instead I recommend replacing the fan with the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote - Powered Lift - 10 Speed - White # MA00-07000K which will replace your current fan and has 10 fan speeds so you will have more fan speed options, and a thermostat so you can set the temperature and not have to worry about adjusting the fan speeds...

  • Will My Battery Voltage Being 13.6 Volts Harm This 12 Volt Roof Fan?
I have never seen the slight voltage difference of a fully charged battery cause an issue with the boards on the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote # MA00-07000K. RV's and campers use these fans in them everyday with no issues. Their batteries are constantly being charged by the convertor when they are plugged in at the campsite. I would think that if there was an issue with this that all the new units would have the regulators built in otherwise every unit would...

  • Recommended Roof Vent Fan For Sunday 109 RV
I would be happy to recommend a replacement roof vent for your Sunday 109, but we do not have a break down of which exact fan was used by manufacturer. The standard roof vent opening is 14" x 14" so the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote - Powered Lift - 10 Speed - White # MA00-07000K would be a great option due to it having a 10 fan speeds, a powered lifting lid, and a thermostat that will keep your RV to the temperature you set. The included remote will...

  • Upgrading Base RV Ceiling Vent Fans for Thermostatically Controlled Fans
Unfortunately there is no way to swap out the basic fans that come in your 2019 Cruiser RV Shadow Cruiser 193 MBS for a thermostatic controlled fan. You will need to replace the entire assembly which will entail removing the caulking and screws on the roof. I recommend the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-07000K as it is one of the only fans that will allow you to operate it during rain as well. It features a 10 speed fan that can run in either direction allowing you to ventilate your...

The MaxxFan Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan - Manual Lift - 4 Speed - White # MA00A04301K however does have a brushless motor. This manual-lift roof vent has a 4-speed fan for efficient airflow inside your RV, camper, or trailer. Ceiling fan mode circulates air when vent is closed. The manual knob opens and closes the dome, and the removable bug screen keeps insects...

  • MaxxAir Roof Vents for RVs with Thermostats with Manual Lift and Powered Lift
You are correct and all of the settings of the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote # MA00-07000K that you mentioned are correct. The powered lift can be turned off to allow you to manually lift the lid, this is thermostatically controlled, and due to the lid design it could be open and vent while raining. This is due to the vents being underneath the lid. I attached a picture that shows what the display looks like for the temperature setting. The smoked color...

  • MaxxFan 2016 Keystone Montana Model 3710FL Won't Stop Running
If your MaxxFan with the rain sensor, like part # MA00-04500K, starts operating automatically and the controller or the controls on the unit aren't working then that sounds like a bad circuit board or that the built-in safety feature for too much (or not enough) voltage was activated and the circuit board locked up. Since you already removed power from the vent try connecting it back to power. If it works properly then it was just locked up and needed to be disconnected from power to unlock...
