Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxFan Plus Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.


To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on either the remote control or keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on either the remote or keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.


This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.


The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

The flush-mounted keypad on the vent enables you to operate the vent and fan, including opening or closing the dome and turning the fan on or off. You can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.


Unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this manual-lift dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome. Pull the knob outward, turn it to where you want it, and push it in to lock the dome into place.


Removable Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.


Installation

The MaxxFan Plus vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The vent also has a molded-in mounting flange that is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.


To install, connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Then insert the MaxxFan Plus into the opening in the roof and mount the flange to the roof. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.


MaxxFan Plus With FanMate Cover

For extra rain protection, install a MaxxAir FanMate vent cover (sold separately) using the molded mounting tabs located on the flange. The tabs are designed to align with the integrated brackets on the FanMate, allowing for a no-drill, tool-free installation. These tabs also have rubber inserts that prevent water from seeping in under the flange.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Max Air Max Fan trailer roof fit with a 12 volt fan. The reversible, variable speed fan is going to allow you to precisely control air movement in and out of your RV. This can be used as a ceiling fan. Basically, all you have to do is close the lid. This is designed to operate while the lid is closed and that's really going to help circulate air inside the trailer. There's a lot of neat features to this unit. You can see here it's got the rubber seal that goes around.

That's really going to help keep dirt and moisture out. It's just going to create a nice tight seal when that lid is closed. The other thing I want to point out is that you'll notice right here that this has a double left arm design. That's going to provide sturdy support for the lid when it's open. That's going to better withstand high winds without fluttering and it can remain fully open while you're driving. It's not a nice motor right here.

That's going to be a sealed ball bearing motor so that's built to last a long time. You got the wiring that's all nice and tucked out of the way. It's just a really nice design. It's going to have the clear fan blades. I believe this one is going to have a 12 inch diameter.

Really quick, we can just go ahead and count the blades to see how many it has. I'm going to start here at this brace so, 1, 2. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 so it's a 10 blade design. Again, the diameter of the fan is going to be 12 inches. We're going to go ahead and close it. There's a manual control knob underneath.

I'll show you what it is fully open. This is in the fully open position. With it installed on your trailer, with it fully open it's going to extend above the roof by about 11 7/8 of an inch, that's from the bottom of the flange to the top of the lid. In the fully closed position it's going to extend above the roof by about 3 3/4 of an inch. You can see here that the cover color is white. It does include the mounting flange and the interior trim piece or garnish. That's white in color as well. It's a nice, low profile design. Some other neat features about the unit, we'll go over these real quick. I'm going to go ahead and remove the interior trim piece. You're going to notice that on this side we're going to have that manual knob down here at the bottom. This is able to lock so the knob will lock to ensure that the lid stays in the position where you want it. It's got the indicators right there, so pull to unlock, open, close, push to lock. Then, right here we're going to have, this is just like a little touch dial. We have on and off. We have the little arrows right here that controls the direction that the fan spins so in or out. We also have auto. This is going to be a built in thermostat. Then we're going to have our plus and minus, which is going to allow us to adjust that thermostat in one degree increments. It's automatically or it's got an auto design at 78 degrees Fahrenheit. That built in thermostat is really a great feature. That's going to let you control the temperature inside your RV or trailer while you're away or at night time when you're sleeping. Ultimately, it's going to help save energy by running the fan no more than necessary. It's going to have the molded in white plastic flange. That's really going to help to prevent leaks. It's got all the pre-drilled holes. It also comes with all the installation hardware that's necessary for full installation. That's including all the different screws that you need to get it installed as well as the wiring connectors to run power to the fan. That key pad, it's a flush mounted design. It's very easy to use and it's very easy to clean. I also want to mention that it has an insect screen right here. That's going to be held in place with these retaining knobs. You just rotate those out of the way and then you can pop that screen out for removal or easy cleaning. This is designed to fit roofs 2 inches to 6 1/2 inches thick. Again, that interior trim piece or garnish is included. If you're installing in an application or on a roof that's less than 2 inches thick the ceiling must be built up. It does require 12 volt DC and minimum 5 amp service. It's designed to fit into a standard 14 inch by 14 inch or 14 1/4 by 14 1/4 inch rough opening size space. I also want to mention that it's a pretty standard size so the standard opening size makes it easy to replace or upgrade an old vent. That's one of the neat features about these. Again, white in color, overall nice, strong, durable design and everything you need to get it installed is included. That's going to do it for today's look at the Max Air Max Fan trailer roof vent.

I had used various AC fans and DC muffin fans to cool my 6 X 12 cargo/camper trailer. What a waste of time and money that was. I had figured that since I had such a small space, I would need less fan to keep it cool. If a 26 foot long 8 feet wide RV needed only one MaxxAir or Fantastic Fan, then a fan with half the power should work with my tiny trailer, right? Wrong! Don't waste your time with cheap fan. Get a real one that will move real air. I absolutely love the thermostat; it works extremely well at keeping the inside at a comfortable temperature. As the day heats up, the fan slowly ramps up- the hotter it get, the faster it spins. If it is only warm, the fan barely turns. Other fans with a thermostat will jam on at high speed, then shut completely off, then jam on again in a jarring, cyclic effort to maintain an even temperature. As the night cools down, my MaxxAir slowly ramps down to an idle so that I can't hear it which is nice when wanting quiet time for sleeping. Some time during the night it shuts off completely. When I sleep in, I'm not awoken by a loud fan kicking in. The thermostat mode is utilized almost exclusively. Whoever included this type of thermostat is a genius. Having the 10 speeds also helps tremendously at keeping a stable temperature and it does so with a quietness that is far and away better than any AC fan. Muffin fans are quiet, too, but they are anemic and won't work against any kind of breeze. The buttons and switches are easy and intuitive. Keep in mind the manual button and the thermostat button are completely separate from each other. Using the manual button will have no effect on the thermostat button and visa versa. Very efficient with electricity while having a ton of power. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Describing how well this fan works compared to other fans is hard to put into words. Very high quality and highly recommended. And a huge thumbs-up for etrailer's customer service. The only negative was not having a template. The installation took a lot longer sans template. This wasn't to replace an existing fan. This was a virgin install on a vertical wall with no help from anyone but my dog. 426744

Great fans. We boondock a lot so don't use the AC much, so two of these give it lots of airflow and keeps us pretty cool in our 21' TT. They have lots of air flow to clear out the heat in just a few minutes. They are totally silent on low and not very loud on high (Some say quieter than the Superfan). When we cook we reverse the flow to blow in and pressurize the odors and smoke out the hood vent and kitchen window. The only recommendation I have is to consider the one with the remote control. My wife is 5'0" and cannot reach the controls to open the vent nor turn it on/off. 544636

I've had the fan in for a season, and a couple southern road trips. Generally happy. It will run "all night" with no problems on the stock dual batteries in my Ford Transit passenger van. Didn't spring for the remote and maybe would the next time. the controls are bit small, hard to reach, a touch confusing for groggy, middle of the night changes. Fan is quiet and efficient but even on high, directly over the bed, it's not going to bath you with sweat drying air movement. Quality seems good, I installed with an aftermarket, designed for the transit roof profile, ring, it went well. I painted the interior trim with gray "for plastic" rattle can paint to match the Transit ceiling and that is good stuff, it held up well to multiple on offs while getting the install just right". I also brush painted elastomeric white roof coating over the exterior caulk and and mounting screws, zero leaks so far. 641357

Nice product, very impressed with it’s design, construction, functions, quality and ease of operations. It looks great on my Transit van. Being it’s a medium height roof I don’t want it to be any higher than it has to be. The low profile is nice. The height of van with Maxxfan open is 9 ft. 4 in. The etrailer installation video on the Transit was very helpful. I made a frame just as described on the video. Using the 2 x 2 ft. piece of 3/4 inch plywood to make the frame is the way to go. It provides the strength I needed due to the weight of my solar panel bracket just 3 inches away. The two screws you see near the edge of the frame is the solar panel bracket. A constructed picture frame style frame would never support the weight. It is a strong solid frame. The roof is solid. 634921

The Maxxair Deluxe fan works better than expected. We ordered the version without a remote and are extemely happy with the product. It took me a while to get around to putting it in my motorhome as I thought I would have to fish wires through my ceiling insulation, but when I remove the vent (with no fan) there were wires for the 12 volt lights already passing through the opening. Some YouTube videos warned against using power to your lights to power your fan since they are switched. Each light in our motorhome has its own switch in addition to the switch up front that controls them all. I just have to leave the main switch on and turn each individual light off. We do that anyway most of the time so it worked out fine. The vent fan was pretty easy to install and I am not the most handy person you will ever meet. As always the fine people at etrailer were friendly and helpful and they have at least as good a price as anyone and better than most. Very happy camper. 497875

Nice fan, I put a 7000 over bed and installed this one over cabover in Class C. Install was easy and identical to the 7000. They need to include self taping screws to attach collar to roof, mine has a metal frame and included screws are for wood. It does have a thermostat button preset at 78 degrees so if you leave open it will pull or push air when cab reaches 78. 7000 has a remote and motor on lift, thats the only difference. 515231

Xcellnt Vent - Installed my vent a yr ago (long story), but only made it operational 10-2018, so I Very much like that it's manual, so i could open/close it without power. Best feature, dual lift arms. Able to drive with the vent open without the lid flapping "Very Stable". A great "Basic" fan vent without all fancy stuff like Rain Sensor, Thermostat, Variable Speed, like my last one that ends up not working after parts are no longer available. 4 speeds is enough. It's Quiet. Lifetime Lid Warranty "Awesome", my last one spider cracked from UV. Only option I'd like to see is "reverse". Doesn't feel like it's moving much air with the lid closed but I have not as yet used it as a ceiling fan to circulate heat. If it does it will be the perfect vent. I will be putting it to that test in the coming months so the jury is still out on that one. 583861

The only reason I did not give the great fan a 5 is because the screen will pop up and rub against the fan. I had to take a button and thread and great a pull down "handle" on the screen because it would pop up so often that taking the screen out and pushing the screen back away from the fan was a big hassle. etrailer does a great job getting items sent out and customer service is great. Very helpful with questions. The fan I replaced with the Maxxfan 5100 was in the bedroom of the 5th wheel and had the automatic lift lid and in the middle of the night would open and close and was quite loud. That's why I bought the manual lift. It works fine for us. Have used it for a full summer now without issue. I have noticed that the old fan did move more air than this one but hasn't been an issue for us. The only thing I don't like is when you set the temperature on automatic this little green light comes on and stays on. It is bright enough that it lights up the whole bedroom all night. It's been a year since we installed our first Maxxfan Deluxe Vent W/ 12v Fan - Manual - 10 Speed - White.... 1) It wasn't too difficult to remove the old fan and install the new one. Took a little patience with the first install, but by the third (we have three fans) it was a piece of cake. Don't forget to use Decor to ensure everything is sealed properly. 2) These fans are very powerful. The one in my bathroom will actually suck the door shut. When we set the one the living area to blow air in and the one in the bedroom to blow air out, air really moves and cools down the rv fast. 3) They are way more quiet compared to my old original fans. Only when I have them on the highest setting to I notice they are on. 4) The built in rain vent is very useful given that if it is raining the only air we get is through the fan vents as all the windows must be closed. 4) My only disappointment has been with the way the fan blades are designed, the air moves more sideways near the ceiling (which is good as hot air rises) but when it is really hot and I'm lying in bed I would like the air to blow downwards so I can feel it. 558588

I purchased this MaxxAir MaxxFan to replace a stock vent/fan that came on my teardrop camper. The most important thing to me was that the fan was quiet as it is only about 4 feet away while sleeping. This fan is so quiet that I can barely hear it on low and on high we can talk in normal tones and hear the television over it just fine. With the stock fan on we could not hear the TV even with the volume at max and could barely stand to leave it on while sleeping. The sleek profile actually adds style to the teardrop. My second hope is that it moves enough air that we won't need to use A/C - so far so good, this fan moves so much air that my curtains go sideways (and can still hear crickets outside) and the 10 speeds let me get it just perfect. Auto on at 78 degrees, reversible, ceiling fan... all nice bonuses. 100% satisfied with this product - Follow the directions, install is relatively easy, solid product. Hardest part for me was correcting the original opening which was not square. I used an oscillating tool to cut the inside shroud down, it was pretty quick but left some cleanup, not sure if it was ultimately any easier than using the prescribed hacksaw. 561667

High quality and no problem with installation. Replaced the OEM fan/vent in our 2017 Jayco JayFlight SLX 265RLSW. Certainly pulls more air through the camper than the stock unit with the tiny fan. Also installed the Maxxair FanMate cover and that was ultra simple, snap on the grill, place over the new vent and install the four clips. Installation instructions from Maxxair are clearly written and easy to follow. I like the ability to tow the camper with the vent open and the fan on so the camper is not hot as an oven when we arrive at the camp site. Not really happy with this product. Expensive fan that will not run for three minutes without turning itself off. Called the mfg , they said bad board they sent a replacement board , worked great for a week now it is back to turning itself off again!!! My backyard Tuff Shed workshop has a turbine vent fan, which really doesn't work all that well. Over the years I've tried various powered fans, but have never been satisfied with the results. Now that it needs a roof, I was thinking about a solar roof fan. Since I have a 400 watt, 12 volt solar system for security lighting, I realized I could use a fan similar to the one in my RV. The installation was very easy, and the quality of the fan is excellent. Its a good fan. I love the fact that you can leave it open in all but the most severe rain storms. Its great for the dog, and seems to be very durable. This is a great fan. I love that I don't have to close it during a rain storm as often it is still muggy or the rain happens when I'm asleep and I like my fresh air. I also appreciate the thermostat. This means I can set and leave it. If it cools off during the night, again I don't have to get up to shut it down or if I'm away for the day it will keep the camper cool and shut down when not needed, saving the house battery. Very easy installation. I'm an average do-it-yourselfer and had no problems. I replaced one of the original vents in a 20 year old Airstream. The hardest part of the installation was removing the old vent, Airstream didn't skimp on the adhesive. The Maxxfan looks good inside and out and the fan is very quiet.
