Shane: Hey guys, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at replacement registers for your camper or RV. These vents are going to be by JR Products. They're going to come in three different colors, they're going to come in black, white or brown. They're also going to come in dampered and un-dampered. So the reason we had to replace this one, as you can see this one's kind of bent.
With this being sticking up like this, it's an easy way to cut your foot. It's kind of bent here in the middle. If it gets bent like that, it can kind of close off the vent, which can restrict airflow.We look at our new one, this is going to be a metal construction. The damper, and what damper it is, is it allows you to open and close the vent to regulate how much heat or air you want inside that room. If you look at the old one that we replaced, it's un-dampered, so it doesn't allow you to close that off.
So if you notice we're replacing this in the bathroom. If you want a little bit more heat out in your camper and a little bit less in the bathroom because it's a smaller area, you just want to close the door. You simply can regulate how much heat you want in here so you're getting more in the main area of the camper itself.To measure what size you need, you can do this a couple of ways. You can pull your vent out and you can measure the backside here, or if you don't want to pull it out, you can measure from here to here, and from there to there. A lot of times what'll happen is if you measure them here to here, it may give you, this'll say three and a half, and this will say seven and a half.
You want to round up, so you would actually, if this is three and a half, you'd round up to four. If this is seven and a half, you'd round up to eight, and that would be the size vent you would need.The lever to move our vents is very easy to use, very simple to use. You can see it doesn't stick up very far, so we're not going to have to worry about damaging it if it does get stepped on. In my professional opinion, I really like these, I like the metal construction. The powder coat finish on them is going to be really durable.
And if I'm going to replace them in mine, I would go with the dampered ones over the un-dampered because I like the idea of being able to regulate airflow in a certain area if I'm not going to be in there much, and I want more in an area where I'm going to be all the time. That's going to do it for our look at floor registers from JR Products.

I bought these to replace the original plastic vent covers that were brittle. These seem to be decent quality as painted well and the flappers were not bound and rotate easily. When installed the covers are roughly 1/4 plus of an inch smaller than the old plastic covers. The flooring under the older covers is not as shiny and perfect as th rest of the floor so needed to wash and scrub the area around the vent hole. The vinyl flooring also developed cracks from the corner of the vent holes (installed with square corners in flooring) and these cracks can now be seen due the the smaller cover. Will likely fill the cracks with white chalk to hide the cracks (floor is a white color so will not be noticed as easily as a dark crack).
I wanted metal so the plastic would not break again over time and these would last longer. The flapper does move easily and would prefer some resistance so that the flap remains in a set position until moved. Set the flaps open and check after some time and flap might be closed or half open or open when should be closed. I might try and bend an inner wall to see if I can reduce the ease of movement but have not to this point. Will need to see how these stand up to years of use for the paint durability. Overall not a bad product just some minor issue and most likely resolved with some tweaks.
etrailer had these great JR metal vent replacements for my trailer. They are far superior to the plastic vents that came with the trailer and they got them to me in record time. The paint appears to be powder coat, so they should stay looking good for years.
Ordered 4 of these floor vents to replace the plastic ones that came with a retired vet's RV, and had finally broken and collapsed creating walking hazards. These metal vents were the exact size - even the screw holes were perfect - and provide excellent value for the money since the OEM plastic replacements cost even more than these metal ones. Well built product.
Better than what came with the camper. The plastic ones that came standard with the camper cracked and broke beside the were large enough for snakes to get in. I had one and watched it as it went down the old floor vent. Now that this one closes I do not have to worry about that surprise again.
replaced the oem plastic ones in our 5th wheel. they kept breaking if you stepped on them. these fit perfect look way better and dont poke into bare feet like the plastic ones did. very happy and would recommend. make sure you measure your old ones so you get the right size
Fits perfect, nice finish, fast shipping. Way more durable then original plastic ones. All this and it has a damper for less then many of the plastic original ones.
The floor registers are just as I needed to replace the plastic registers in my class A. The quality is great as is the finish and makes the rooms look that much better. The old registers had no louvers to close another reason I bought these. Well priced and great quality. Thank you!
Works good but after being walked over for a year I do notice it can get stuck in the position it in sometimes. Paint and everything else about it has held up great!

Slightly narrower than plastic orginals that came in the trailer. No printing was on my two.
Order was accurate and received in three days !! Very unusual these days....
works great as a replacement for the standard plastic floor vents. i pulled the dampeners out of mine since i have small children and could see them hurting themselves.
