Video Transcript for Fantastic Vent Enclosed Trailer Parts FV801200 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number FV801200. This is the Fantastic Vent roof vent with a twelve volt fan built in. This is going to help push the old air out of your RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. It's going to feature a variable speed fan that's going to offer three speeds to boost or reduce the air flow as needed. I'm going to flip it over that way you can see the controls here on the bottom. Right here you're going to have your hand crank. This is going to open or close the dome on the top of the vent.

On this side right here that small area is going to be where the fuse is being held. That's where the fuse is installed and then this right here is going to be the hand knob to control the speed of the fan. You're going to have your low, medium and high speed. It's also going to feature a pop out screen that's going to keep insects out and easily detaches for cleaning when needed. I'm going to separate these two pieces so this area right here, this would be the area that would sit in between the ceiling and the roof of your RV, camper or enclosed trailer. Two piece design.

That screen piece that I was talking about is this piece right here and then you can see when I operate the knob, it's going to open up that vent or excuse me it's going to open up the dome. You can see the fan blades in here. This is going to feature ten clear fan blades so that's still going to allow plenty of sunlight to come into your RV, camper or enclosed trailer. This right here, the dome is going to be a smoke colored dome made from a polyethylene construction. It's going to filter UV rays while still allowing light into your camper. Very simple installation. It's going to feature a two wire design.

White wire is going to be for your ground connection. Black wire is going to be for your power. All your hardware is included. It's going to come with some extension pieces of wire. Now the wire coming out of the housing, so the wire that I have in my hand, this is going to measure about twenty-two inches long.

The wires in the hardware pack, those are going to measure about twenty-six inches long. It's going to come with all the screws to get everything installed and it's going to come with some butt connectors that way you can easily connect your wires. This product is going to be fully made in the USA. It's designed for RV's, campers and trailers with roofs up to four inches thick. This piece right here, this is what's called the interior trim piece. It's going to have four mount holes, one on each corner. This is the piece that you're going to be able to see from inside your RV, camper or enclosed trailer. It's got a nice design. It's white. It's going to match a lot of interiors out there and it just adds a nice finished look to the installation. Again, these two pieces are going to fit into one another. This unit is going to fit your standard fourteen inch by fourteen inch opening in the ceiling and roof. Now the center area that goes into the ceiling, we're going to go over just some specific measurements real quick. Measuring from outside edge to outside edge, that's going to give us a measurement of about thirteen and three quarters of an inch. Measuring outside edge to outside edge right here at the flange so overall width, that's going to give us a measurement of about sixteen and one quarter of an inch. Now these mount holes on the corner, this is a square design but the mount holes on the corners, those are going to be separated on center by fifteen and one sixteenth of an inch. When this is fully installed, your vent is going to be extended above the roof. When it's in the closed position by four and a half inches and when it's fully open it's going to extend above the roof by eleven and a half inches. I'm going to go ahead and fit these two pieces back together. Another thing I want to point out is right here around the closure point of the dome, it's going to be a nice rubberized gasket. It's going to help keep all that moisture out. All the things that we don't want getting in. So when this is closed, that creates a nice tight seal. That way it keeps all that unwanted stuff out from our RV, camper, enclosed trailer. Now when it comes to the fan capacity on high, that's at nine twenty SCFM, which is going to be your standard cubic feet per minute of air flow and the power draw on high is at three amps, medium is six hundred and fifty-three SCFM, power draw at two point two nine amps and on low that's four hundred and seventy-eight SCFM with a power draw of one point eight six amps. Now to replace your old vent and install this vent you just do so in the existing opening. If your roof does not already have a vent, you'll need to mark and cut an opening between the roof joists to install this unit but again, all your hardware is included. I do want to go ahead and hook it up to our external power source that way you can kind of hear how quiet the fan actually is. So with our power connected go ahead and turn it on low. It's going to send out really good air flow. You can't even really hear it when it's on low. When it's on medium it increases in noise just a little bit but still not very noticeable. So we just went from medium to high and you can kind of hear the difference there but it's still a very quiet fan even when it's all the way on high. That's going to do it for today's review of part number FV801200. This is the Fantastic Roof Vent with a twelve volt fan.

Always great to order from ETrailer.. Fantastic fan lived up to its reputation. Price was a bit more than the chinese fan that did not require total replacement of vent and cover however quality is much better in this made in USA product. Although it required more work to replace the whole vent unit to install this vs the chinese unit, it was well worth it considering the quality and how well this fan moves air and is quiet. Everything needed except for the lap caulk was provided. The instructions could use a bit more clarification about using the provided gasket vs caulk strips. Also worthwhile is the low amp draw vs the non USA fan. Works great at moving air through the RV. 227359

The only Issue I have with Product is , if you want to remove the screen you have to go up on top of the trailer and manipulate the tabs holding it to allow it to come down, almost a two person job,, If you try to remove it from the inside you may cause some damage trying to pry it off, I fix it so it easily comes down on the inside with out any prying the screen will rotate , so i marked the frame where the tabs are and cut out some slots to allow them to go in the frame without any real force then rotate the screen so the tabs lock in , works perfectly ,would be a great modification to the Prouduct, 430859

Just received this one today, but liked the one we had installed in our Micro Minnie so much, that it was one of the first items we ordered for our new RV. Preferred it to running the AC. Even in the summer we seldom ran the AC overnight, we'd just turn on our Fantastic Fan, open the window by our bed, and a nice cool breeze would flow in over us. etrailer is great too. Not only do they provide many videos for the products they sale, but they also have great customer service reps, that are happy to help with any issues or questions you may have. 381179

We used this Fantastic Fan in our remote off grid rustic cabin. It is mounted in the wall instead of the roof. It functions perfectly to pull air through our cabin and it uses only a small amount of power from our 12v battery bank. I have always had very good luck with Fantastic Fans and etrailer. I highly recommend both. Brad 321211

Fan and vent work great, the only reason I marked four stars is because there is a small gap on the inside of the bathroom ceiling and the casing and it is not as powerful as my previous fan. I have 2004 Jayco Jay flight, so maybe the roof angle is just off or the camper shop didn't line everything up perfectly when installing. Minor cosmetic issue that does not affect how good it works. etrailer shipped fast and I will shop there again. 431212

The Fan-tastic fan has done a great job keeping my small pop-up camper cooler for the past year. On the high setting, it moves a lot of air, and makes for nice afternoon naps. On low, it keeps the air from feeling stagnant, and makes for nice nighttime sleeping, as well as eliminating the possibility of condensation when I camp in the winter. 358364

The fantastic fans were a great replacement for our vintage trailer. Some minor modifications to the trailer skin were required to make the fans fit the opening and the fan wiring rerouted to the location of the trailer wiring. We put these fans in our last trailer as well and will do so on future trailers. 254433

Installed in on my 2004 Lance 10' 7" slide in camper. Works great. The hard part was removing all the old sealant. Tip: install the vent into the top first, then install the cosmetic square piece from underneath. Don't try to fit the vent into the cosmetic piece from the top. 423014

Received in 3 days, installed today. No real problems. Just remember not to tighten roof screws to much, the fan frame is plastic and the screws will pull thru the plastic. If this happens you will need a flat washer. 406188

Ask the Experts about this Fantastic Vent RV Vents and Fans
Do you have a question about this RV Vents and Fan?

  • Comparing the Fan-Tastic Vent # FV801200 and the Clamp on Fan-Tastic Vent # FV801208
  • Both the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof with the Manual Lift # FV801200 and the Clamp on Fan-Tastic Vent Roof with the Manual Lift # FV801208 have a height of 4-1/2 inches when closed and a height of 11-1/2 inches when opened. Neither of them is higher or lower than the other when installed. The controls for the fan will be located at about the same height as well. The part # FV801200 has the deeper sides but that does not affect where the control is located. If you are looking for something...

  • Selecting Correct Roof Vent Garnish Trim Ring
  • The 5-inch garnish trim ring included with the plastic-construction Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent with 12V Fan # FV801200 certainly can be trimmed down to better fit your 1-1/2-inch thick trailer roof. A rotary cutting tool, like a Dremel tool, will work well, or you can use a fine-tooth hacksaw blade. You may prefer to select an alternate garnish that is closer to your roof dimension. The linked page displays all 14-1/4 x 14-1/4 ceiling vent garnish rings. Part # VA0445-25 has a leg length...

  • To remove the fan blade of a Fan Tastic Roof Vent you will need to first remove the screen on the underside. You will want to then remove the vent cover lid from the outside of the trailer as well. There are four screws from the top of the cover that hold the blade and motor to the top of the vent housing. You will be able to remove the motor and blade at this point. There is then an allen wrench screw sized 3/32 inch that will need to be loosened on the shaft of the fan that will...

  • Does Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent With 12V Fan Have Reversible Air Flow
  • The Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent With Fan, part # FV801200 is designed to do just what you mentioned you want to use it for. • Measuring to Determine Correct Replacement Roof Vent with Fan
  • The best way to measure for a replacement roof vent with fan is to measure the size of the rough opening in your trailer's roof. This can be easily measured by removing the garnish around the vent on the inside of the trailer and measuring the size of the rough opening. Most standard vent openings are 14-1/4 inches x 14-1/4 inches wide. If you find that your trailer's rough opening for the vent is 14-1/4 inches x 14-1/4 inches, we have a number of different vent with fan options for...

  • Size of Hole Needed to Install the Fan-Tastic Roof Vent FV801200
  • Rough cut openings for roof vents have a bit of wiggle room on the dimension. Between 14 inch and 14-1/4 inch would work well with the Fan-Tastic roof vent part # FV801200.

  • Will a Fan-Tastic Powered Roof Vent Replace a Ventline Powered Roof Vent
  • The Fan-Tastic Vent part # FV801200 would work well as a replacement to the Ventline powered roof vent that you have. It also uses 2 wires for operation so it would just be a matter of wiring the new fan to the old wiring. This will also fit the same size opening as your current vent.

  • What Is Amperage Draw For Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan
  • I went to the warehouse and checked out the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, part # FV801200. The fan motor on the vent has a 3-amp draw. This fan is designed to fit roofs that are up to 4-inches thick and the rough opening size you need for this vent is 14-1/4 inches x 14-1/4 inches.

  • Trimming Celing Garnish to Install a Fan-Tastic Roof Vent on a Thin Roof
  • The garnishes for fans such as # FV801200 can be trimmed to fit a thinner roof. The easiest way to do it is to trim it to length using a rotary tool. If no rotary tool is available scoring each side repeatedly with a box cutter or Exacto knife and ruler can do the job. If your roof is really thin you will likely need to replace the included garnish with a shorter one such as # VA0445-25.

  • Can the Direction of the Fan on the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent # FV801200 be Reversed
  • Yes, if you wanted to reverse the air flow of the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent # FV801200 all you would need to do is reverse the polarity of the wiring. This would have the air blow into the trailer instead of out.

  • The Clamp On Garnish for Fan-Tastic Vents Roof Vent - 6" Leg - 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" - White # FVSA-XG6000-81-SP is made for the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan - Clamp On - Manual Lift - 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" # FV801208. This garnish will not work properly on a the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan - Manual Lift - 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" # FV801200 due to parts of the cover that are intended to interlock with the clamp style system.

  • The garnish that is included with the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent, part # FV801200 measures 4-1/2 inches tall. • Fan-Tastic Roof Vent Circuit Board Fails Second Time On 2006 Arctic Fox Camper
  • It sounds like you have not had much luck with the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent you have on your Arctic Fox. Instead of replacing the circuit board again there may be an issue with the wiring that is causing the circuit board to fail. I would check to make sure all of the wiring is secure and not shorting out and causing the issue. If you are unable to find the source of the problem you may want to just replace the fan. • Do Powered and Non-Powered Trailer/RV Fantastic Roof Vents Fit the Same Size Opening
  • Fan-Tastic Vent RV or Trailer Roof Vent # FV800800 fits in a 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" rough opening size. If that is the size of the hole you cut then you are good to go. Models with the electric fan, such as # FV801200, fit the same size opening. I recommend just using the model with the fan because even if there isn't power running to it yet you can still have the lid open to vent hot air.

  • Will Fantastic Vent Cover Hold Up Over Winter
  • In general the vent covers for the roof vents like part # FV801200 hold up just fine but after several years of sun and weather exposure they will need to be replaced. These covers are designed to resist this about as much as plastic can, but eventually they all need to be replaced.

  • Can a Larger Fan be Installed in the Same Housing as Old Van on Ventline Ventadome
  • The guts of a higher capacity fan would not fit in Ventline vent # V2094SP-30 without fairly extensive modification so I do not recommend it. The best solution would be to remove the vent assemblies and install newer, higher capacity options. Fan # FV801200 for example has a larger fan and moves air up to 920 cubic feet per minute which is more than twice what the Ventline Northern Breeze # V2525-04-S46-M can put out. I have linked a video review for you.

  • Vent Cover Recommendation that Allows Roof Vent to Be Open while Raining
  • Yes, the Maxx Air vent covers will work just like the part # FVU1500WH that you referenced for your # FV801200. Your Maxx Air vent cover and the part # FVU1500WH are both designed to fit the same 14 by 14 inch roof vents.

  • Is There a Correct Size for a Fan-Tastic Roof Vent on a Haulmark Edge Trailer?
  • Based on my research, your Haulmark Edge race trailer has a standard 14" x 14" roof vent, which requires a 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" opening. If you are concerned about roof thickness, the Fan-Tastic vent's roof garnish - such as the one in the photo that I've attached - can be trimmed to meet your specifications. The only thing left for you to do is choose which vent you prefer. The most popular of our Fan-Tastic roof vents is # FV801200, which has a manual-speed knob to let you control airflow....

  • Replacement Roof Vent for Travel Trailer
  • It is possible we have what you need; many roof vents are roughly 14" x 14" and we have replacements that fit right into that size opening in the ceiling. The most popular of those is the Ventline Ventadome # V2092SP-28, which you would install with kit # RVIKIT100. A more premium option of that size is the Fan-Tastic Vent # FV801200, which uses a variable 12V fan. • Is Silicone and Adhesive Used to Install a Roof Trailer Vent on a Rubber Roof
  • No, you would not have to use adhesive between the roof and the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan - Manual Lift - 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" Item # FV801200 during installation. In fact it is possible that an adhesive and the silicone may not be compatible with each other and could lead to one or both breaking down. We actually have an installation kit for rubber roofs. It is Camco RV Vent Installation Kit - Rubber Roofs or Sidewalls - White Butyl Tape Item # CAM25013. Instead of silicone...

There are a large selection of square, 14" x 14" vents and fans available such as the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent # FV801200. • Difference Between Pair of Fan-Tastic Roof Vent With 12V fan
  • The difference between the two fans is only in their installation. The Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan - Clamp On # FV801208 is held in place by using sealant and then attaching the garnish to the bottom of the vent with four screws; it is the sealant which keeps the fan in place. The Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # FV801200, meanwhile, has mounting holes and is screwed into place. Outside of that, the two fans are identical.
