When you pull up to the camp site, before you start getting unloaded, plug this surge protector into the power pedestal and find out if you need to request a new site. It's not uncommon to find faulty wiring, especially at older campsites. Checking the power supply first will save you the headache of finding out later that there are problems with the power outlet forcing you to pack up and move to a new location.
Using a surge protector is the smart way to protect all the appliances in your RV that could be permanently damaged by major spikes in voltage caused by lightning.
This surge protector can withstand 2,100 joules of power surges until the internal components are rendered inoperable. The device will still function as a circuit tester, but when the surge protection LED no longer lights up, it won't keep your RV safe from further spikes. While you will have to buy a new surge protector, it's done its job saving you the cost of replacing appliances or electric devices that might have been damaged instead.
The circuit testing feature of this surge protector can detect the most common electrical issues you might run into, letting you know if it's safe to plug in your RV. If both LEDs light up green, you're good to go.
The key on the face of the surge protector will let you know about the presence of 5 other conditions, from no power at all to reversed wires. Regardless of the error you encounter, you'll want to get a new site and inform management of the situation.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna take a look at this SurgeMinder surge protector and circuit tester. This 30-amp surge protector will not only protect your RV from power spikes, but the LEDs are going to illuminate in different patterns to indicate if you have a problem with your power. It's gonna indicate if your power is steady or if there is a problem. And then you're going to be able to easily compare the LED lights to the legend that's right there on the front of the unit to determine up to five errors.
So this is going to be very easy to read and very easy to decipher. And it's gonna be very easy to use. You're just going to plug this into the pedestal to check for a safe circuit. And then connect your RV shore power cord right here. So again, very easy to use.
This is also going to be compatible with power cord adapters. And then, as you noticed here, a lock is included with this to help deter theft. So you just unlock this and then you can just run this through right here. So that's going to keep this lid locked so somebody just can't come by and open up the lid and unplug this. So that is a nice addition with this.
Now let me give you some overall measurements just to give you an idea of the size of this unit and help you determine if this is going to work. So looking at the overall height from top to bottom, as you can see, we're sitting right at about 19 inches tall overall. And then looking at the height of just the unit itself, and all of these measurements are going to be with the lid on, we are sitting pretty close to eight and a half inches tall. And then looking at the overall width, this is a little bit harder to show on camera, but trying to measure this at the widest point, we are sitting right at about four and a half inches wide at the widest point as you can see. And then the overall depth, we are sitting pretty close to five and a half inches deep.
Again, this is gonna be for your 30-amp outlet and if you're looking for something similar for a 50-amp outlet, the good news is we do also carry a similar unit from SurgeMinder for your 50-amp outlet. So if you are interested in taking a look at that item, on your screen I am including our item number for the 50-amp version. And you can just take that item number and put it in the search field of our website and it will take you to that surge protector and circuit tester. Instructions are included with this. And that's going to conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
