When a campground is full on a hot day and everyone is running their air conditioners, low voltage may cause a brown-out situation and damage your RV appliances. On the flip side, faulty transmission, bad wiring, or spikes caused by other RVers connecting to a shared line can all lead to voltage issues that may not be significant enough to trip a basic surge protector.
Power Watchdog surge protectors with Emergency Power Off are equipped with computers that monitor voltage and disconnect when voltage is at risky levels. Plus, they automatically reconnect power when power returns to normal. This keeps your RV safe from problems caused by low voltage like motors overheating in fans and air conditioners.

Have yet to load the app but I anticipate no problem in doing so. Etrailer has been excellent in their communication and service.

Still working great. No issues and easy to use.
I wanted to add a surge protector with the emergency shut down after my Hughes Autoformer and this worked great. I chose this one since it had plug ends and could be easily disconnected if there were ever to be a problem with a in my electical compartment.

I am so glad that I added this to our electrical compartment! Last fall we were staying at a place where the voltage ped low enough that even the Hughes Autoformer could not raise it up enough and the surge protector did its job and cut off the power that was dangerously low. As I mentioned in my original review, Im glad I went with this surge protector with the EPO!
Love this protector, does exactly what it needs to do: PROTECT! This last summer we took a 4th month trip in our RV and ran into a lot of sketchy power posts, luckily this protector kept our RV safe. Heavy? Yes. Hard to store as the cable is vey stiff? Yes. Would I still use 100% of the time? YES!

Love this protector! We actually ran into a bad pedestal a few months ago and it caused some internal issue on our Watchdog not the module. I called customer service and they said no problem, covered by warranty, and they sent me OVERNIGHT an entirely brand new unit, with return label for my old one so they could inspect. New unit flawless. I would never buy any other unit!

Just received and put in use. It was as advertised. The app was easy to setup and use. The box the unit came in is designed to also be used to stow and transport the unit, which is a nice bonus!

Ive owned and used this surge protector for a year now. I have been extremely pleased with this product. It works as advertised. I have found the bluetooth information excellent and use the free app to monitor power levels. The app has been helpful for me to understand what branches of my RV 50-amp are tied to which leg of the service. This has helped me understand a good AC startup sequence. While parked at home I leave my power plugged in, I can monitor how much power my RV is using while it is in parked mode. I would HIGHLY recommend this accessory as a MUST HAVE for your RV!
This product saved our toyhauler from going up in smoke ! While Glamping at our friends ranch in Colorado in June of '22 , Lightning struck their main power pole supplying power to the 40 acer property . Our RV was about an eighth of a mile from from the pole . The BOOM and SIZZLE sounds were like none other ! Scared the shizzle out of us ! After the power company restored the service , hit the breaker and the power was back on , no issues . Thank You to our Watchdog !

Best one on the market
The Power Watchdog Surge Protector with Emergency Shutdown, did it job with I lost my neutral conductor on the incoming service for the power company. Took me a bit to figure out what was happening. It was showing an overvolt on one 120V leg and an undervolt on the other 120V leg. It would shutdown the power, and then the voltage would go back to normal. But as soon as I turn on anything that was 120V it shut off the power. Power company fixed their issue the next day and it started working normally. Would not hookup to shore power (home or away) without it.
has worked as advertised!!! being able to monitor kw usage is a great plus when being charged by kw hour at certain rv parks.

Plugged in 24-7 this past year and it’s protected us at the least three times we are aware of with no issues
Delivered on time, package look like it was handled with care as the surge protector is in perfect condition. etrailer kept me informed from purchase to delivery. Very heavy duty looking product. I will do a follow up review when I have a chance to use the product this spring. etrailer sets the standard for excellence!
Easy to use. Love the fact you can replace the surge module. I bought an extra to have on hand (about $40). The surge protector being replaced by the Watchdog was a one and done. It was fried and no way to replace a module. Used a little over a year, so $300+ dollars down the drain.
My Hughes Watchdog continues to work great. I love that:
(a) It goes beyond most surge protectors with line voltage monitoring and shutdown, to better protect my RV's electronics.
(b) The Bluetooth connection and app, so I can monitor electric loads plus see total power used.

VERY GOOD PRODUCT
Peace of mind. Used for several months in past 18 months since we travel for periods of time. Easy to read display. The 50 amp can be used when plugged to 30 amp as well, so no need to buy two. Internal parts can be replaced if compromised by surge which is better than finding a new one.

Great product & competitive with [online]. Received product on scheduled delivery date. Bought it to replace my 7 yrs old surge protector . Like the fact that not only it protects from surge , it also protects from low voltage from RV park. Auto power shutdown ,Bluetooth compatible & able to see exactly whats going on with park power via phone app. Also like the fact that in event of major power surge the circuit board is owner replaceable vs sending it in for repair .

After 4 months stay @ RV park on Texas. Gulf coast unit performed as expected . Zero issues connecting to bluetooth app on phone. Liked the fact that a could get KW hrs per month via phone app. Great device

Plugged it in, waiting for the face to light up, plugged in the camper. Awesome! Everything works, the app works, I can monitor my electrical voltage, current, anywhere. It's pretty cool.

After many months of usage, the Watchdog surge protector has been trouble free and twice saved us from problems due to low voltage. The app works great and helps us evaluate our electrical usage thus avoiding overuse. A little side benefit is that the dog face on it stays lit when there is power. My wife thinks it is a comforting sight to have our watchdog watching over us.
