Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we are looking at our Prest-O-Fit Outrigger Exterior RV Step Rug here at etrailer.com. We have a bunch of different RV step rugs of different shapes and sizes. I recommend picking one up because they help keep your RV interior nice and clear. They also add a little designer pop-up color to your RV setup.

And if you have little children, or you have some pets with little puppy paws, this provides a nice, soft surface for them. So this one we have right here is the Outrigger for straight steps, and there's different versions. You have Universal style, you have options just for curved steps. If you know what kinda step you have, I recommend getting the one that fits that perfectly because I found that has the best shape and fit for your RV. Now, you might see this curve on the corner, and you think, "Is that really a straight step" Yes, it is because what you wanna look at is the middle of the step.

So if that has a straight edge almost all the way, that's a straight step. An actual curved step has a curve for the entire step. What I have here is the 18-inch version, but it also comes in different sizes like 18, 20, or in 23. It also comes in different colors. Some examples are this one is gray, but it can also come in light brown or brown or black or blue.

So this is the Outrigger which has a carpet-like feel. It's nice and soft, one of the softest of Prest-O-Fit's different versions of step rugs. I actually highly recommend pairing this with one of their patio rugs or one of their exterior RV rugs because it's a nice transition when you wanna walk barefoot, do some stretches in the morning. You step straight onto the step rugs onto your carpet, and you don't have to worry about stepping on gravel or mud or dirt or something really hot or really cold. This has a micro-ribbed texture, and that allows it to stay soft but also increase the traction.

So if you do have dirty shoes or mud, this will help wipe that off so you don't get it inside your RV. So here we have some exterior steps which show why it's a great idea to get some step rugs. So you can see this has gone through a lot. We have a lot of dirt and mud caked onto the steps. It's actually kinda hard to wash off now, 'cause I need to do a little bit of scrubbing. But if you had a step rug on there, you won't have to worry about tracking this dirt onto your nice carpet inside your RV, and it's easier to wash off a step rug or replace it than have to scrub this down all the time. So this is supposed to take off the dirt and mud from your shoes, which means it's gonna gather a little bit of dirt over time. That's okay 'cause it's really easy to clean. Just take it off, hose it off, let it air-dry outside in the sun, and then put it back on. This creates a solid step. I know with some pets, some of them are afraid of the holes in the steps as well as how that metal sounds against their paws. So this is really nice if you do have your furry friends and will make them feel safer with climbing up steps. This is UV-resistant, which is great because even if we have this out all day in the sun, compared to other rugs which may fade after a while or get brittle, this will stay sturdy even out there in the hot sun's rays. Now, the mold and mildew resistance this has is useful, especially when you wanna pack up your RV during the off-season. You put things away, and things can tend to get musty after a while. So that's useful because then you don't have to worry about mold or mildew growing in there during its time off. This comes with its own mounting hardware, which are just some zinc-plated springs, so that way you don't have to worry about getting some tools, drilling any holes, putting down any adhesive. You just put it on, and that process is really simple. Let's take a look at it. So before install, again, make sure you have the right step size, and here's the way you're gonna measure it. So you can see on our step here, we have like a beveled edge or a curved edge. So what we want is the straight step portion. So measuring right where it's straight to the other end, we have it at about 17 inches. So mine is 17 inches for the straight part, and we have a little bit extra when it curves, which means this will fit with our 18-inch wide step rug. So let's put this on the step, and we'll tighten it down with these springs. So what I like to do is I like to start in the front, so you're gonna have the single hole in the front, and then that's gonna attach to one of the multiple holes in the back flap. Next, attach the spring on the other side. And once those are both secured, that's it for the install. My final thoughts about this rug is I do like its carpet texture, it is heavy-duty with that extra traction due to that micro-ribbed texture, which is great. Now, I definitely see this being useful maybe if I'm going off to the beach, if I have sand, gravel, or dirt to think about. Prest-O-Fit also has other styles, especially the one which has a artificial turf feel. So if you think you're gonna have a lot more mud and dirt, maybe you're interested in that. But if you want something that looks, feels like a carpet and it's easy to put on, this might be a good option for you.
