Video Transcript for Review of OptiMate RV Solar Panels - Portable Solar Panel Kit - MA56JR

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at Today, we're gonna take a look at this OptiMate 40 watt Solar DUO portable solar panel with the controller. Now, this is a portable solar charging system that'll let you place the solar panel where you need it for maximum sunlight. And the kit will include everything I got laid out here on the table. We'll start again with the solar panel.

It's a 40 watt solar panel. And if you notice when I flip this around, it has the adjustable legs, they are aluminum construction, and the built-in solar cable right here. Does come with the solar controller. Let me just put this back in there. There we go.

Comes with the solar controller with the SAE connectors, the battery clamp cables, the ring terminal cables, nice nylon carrying case for carrying everything in, and a nice set of instructions that'll describe how this works. Now, the battery types that this kit supports are flooded, AGM, gel, and the LiFePO4, which are the lithium-iron phosphate batteries. And this is a nice portable solar system, so it will provide an off-grid charging solution for lead-acid and lithium batteries. Basically, you could park in the shade and then just place this solar panel in the sun for maximum charge. The solar panel itself is a 40 watt, polycrystalline solar panel.

We mentioned it has the adjustable legs on the back. And you can use the sunlight to charge your vehicle's battery. This panel is IP54 rated. It is made from weatherproof material to stand up to the elements. Basically, the frame and legs, and everything is aluminum.

And I do wanna, did wanna show you that when you do angle this down, if you notice right here on each corner, there's a little tab. Same way on this one. And on the very back, there's the holes right through here. And basically, what that's designed for is if you're, when you do put this on the ground, you could put stakes or some pins through there to keep it in the ground if you have a windy day. Also, they do recommend if it is really windy, you could put a bag of sand over this part to even secure it, so it doesn't move around. The solar cable length right here that plugs into the controller, that's gonna be about 80 inches long. So, we're gonna put this back into place. And then what we're gonna do, we'll have that little cable out here. I wanna zoom in and we can talk about the other parts on this. So, if I zoom in, we'll start with the solar controller. This is what will adjust the solar panel output for a nice, quick, consistent charge. It is an automatic multistage smart charging system that'll help extend the battery life. And you can see it'll plug right into the cable coming out of the solar panel. Actually, if we plug it in right now, you could probably see, it might even flash a little bit to show you that there's a little bit of a charge in there. But I also wanted to show you on insert here, that's what the close up of the top of this control, or controller will look like just to give you an idea. The LED display provides the charge progress. It'll monitor the charge level throughout the night. The cable, controller cable length, the extra cable on this is about 40 inches long. Now, there are two ways of connecting this to your battery. And it's using either the battery clamp cables right here, this is a 20 inch long. And you can see it has the two clamps that'll clamp to the battery. And this will plug into the connector on the center of the controller. The other way is a little more permanent connection, it's a ring terminal cable. And same way, it's 20 inches. It does have an inline fuse to protect it. But you can take the cap off there, plug that in, connect it a little more permanently to the battery. Now, this does use a dual method smart charging system, which will help efficiently charge the battery in any weather, provides a continuous charge in the full sun and a pulse charge in low light. And it will save a dead battery from as low as four volts. This heavy-duty nylon case is nice. It gives you easy storage and transport of the solar panel, and even all the accessories which is really nice. Specs on this, again, the application is 12 volt and 12.8 volt batteries from two to 240 amp hours. The solar panel voltage is 12 volts. We've mentioned the panel rated power is 40 watts. Last thing I wanna do is we're gonna give you some measurements on the panel. And then I'm gonna put everything away for you just to show you how nice the storage bag is. So, we're gonna do the length. And I'm gonna measure at the ends cause it has these protectors on the ends, which extend out a little bit. So, to give you the correct measurement, we're gonna measure right on the ends. So, you're gonna see that's gonna be 27 inches long that way. The width, again, on the ends, 16 5/8 inches. And then the depth is only 1 1/4 inches. So, what we'll do here, we go ahead and disconnect this, the controller. And then we'll flip this around. And just to show you, you can rotate these. We go ahead and loosen the little wing nuts here. That'll allow it to slide up. So, you can see with it just like that, you can slide it up into position, out of the way. And then you can put your cord down on there. And then what I'm gonna do is I have the bag already open. It's a nice nylon storage bag. Has some padding on it and here's the pocket for the accessories, so you can keep everything together. So, what I'm gonna do is go ahead and put this panel right in there. And I would probably recommend, since you're gonna put your accessories in this pocket, to probably put the panel down, so the actual solar panel is facing down, so this bag wouldn't be rubbing against the panel. So, once we get that all in there, then what we'll do is we'll take our accessories. We'll take our solar controller. And see, it's a zippered pouch. We'll put that in there. Take our two different types of connectors. Put those in there. Zip that close. And then what's even nice at the very top of the bag, you can see it's a clear see-through pouch. You can actually put your instructions. Keep those all together there. And what's nice, again, this bag keeps it, all the accessories separate from the panel itself. And then just lay it down on there. And then we'll swing this all the way over. And on one side, we have our zippers. And we'll just go ahead and zip, zipper that around. And we'll do the same over here. Take our zipper. Make sure everything's inside. There we go. And then, again, you have your two long handles. It has a hook and loop here that we can put that other strap in, attach it together. And just like that, you can carry that wherever you want. And again, the nice thing is you got all your accessories there and your solar panel. Everything all in one place. But that should do it for the review on this OptiMate 40 watt Solar DUO portable solar panel with the controller..
