RV Roof Maintenance Over the Years

Most RV roofs will last around 30 years, but after about 10 years, it's a good idea to start looking closely for leaks, cracks, or other damage that may lead to replacement of the entire roof. For the best results and the longest-lasting roof, it's best to check the seals and edges of the rooftop at least once a year.

Over time, parts of your RV will begin to wear down, especially the roof which receives daily beatings from all weather conditions. In these spots you'll begin to see holes or cracks appear. To prevent leaking and further damage to your RV, you can use Quick Roof's patch strip for roof membranes. After cleaning the surface, peel the backing off the patch and lay it over the tear or crack. The strong adhesion will ensure an instant and permanent repair.

Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be looking at the Roof Leak Repair Patch. This is going to be a really nice way to patch up any kind of leaky area on your roof, maybe on your camping equipment, your boat, or anywhere else. The really unique thing about this is that it gives you a clear patch, so once it's in place, it's pretty much invisible. And it really sticks to just about anything. Every time I set this on a surface, it sticks to it, and I have to pull it back up.

So even just the edge of this material is very, very sticky. It can stick to all kinds of different surfaces, even down to pretty low temperatures. So it should be good for all kinds of applications. So let's talk a little bit more in detail about that.If I pull the cover back, you can see the material here. It's just a off-white right now, but if you pull it back on its own, it's pretty much clear.

It's a little bit opaque, but mostly whenever it's installed, it should be pretty much undetectable. There might be a little bit of extra shine in that area, but that's about it.It's pretty easy to get installed. You're just going to pull off the backing or cut a piece to length, however long you need for your patch, and then pull off the backing and stick it in place. It can be applied in temperatures as low as negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit, and it will still stick once it's in place down to negative 70 degrees Fahrenheit. So very durable stuff, can really withstand extreme temperatures. If this is going to be in an area where it's going to be exposed to direct sunlight all the time, they do recommend that you add on the Quick Roof UltraBond or Quick Roof Extreme over the top to keep it UV stabilized.

It's rated to be UV stable for up to two years, but just to extend the life of that, if it is going to be in an area that's pretty sunny, so if it's on your roof, you might want to add that on there as well. You do want to make sure that whatever area you're applying this to is clean and free of any dirt or oily residue, and it's also dry. If you can't make it dry, it can be applied to any kind of nonporous surface when wet. You just want to be sure to get out of any kind of air bubbles. So a little hand roller might help to do that.As far as the applications for this, again, you can use it for any kind of RV use, camping equipment, all kinds of stuff. You can use it on boats, but not for anything that's below the water line or anything that's going to be submerged. It is made in USA.

This roll measures four-inches wide, and it's 20-feet long. And that's really about all there is to it for our look at the Roof Leak Repair Patch. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right piece for you. We do have some other options for repairing roofs here at etrailer.com for any kind of RV application. So check those out, and we'll see you out there on the road. Thanks for watching!.
