Video Transcript for Everchill Electric Cooler with Internal Lithium Battery Review

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we'll be taking a look at our Everchill portable electric cooler. So this is a 55 quart cooler with an internal lithium battery and we'll take a look at how it works right here. So we are gonna take a deep dive into its features, specs and measurements but main summary is my favorite thing is I really like how it has an internal lithium battery, that way, before your trip you can plug it in, have it all charged up and then you can keep your things frozen or cool from point A to point B without having to keep it plugged in. The downside is it's not the most storage efficient cooler. It does have 55 quarts but the way it manages its storage isn't as good compared to some other coolers. So let's take a look at that.

So opening it up, we have this handle here that pops this open. You can actually move that lid around to get easier access and we immediately see our dual zone. So if you want your refrigerated items on this side your frozen items on this side you can do so and you can make your own adjustments. Those adjustments are made at this control panel. So you have your plus, your minus sign to adjust your temperature up and down.

It will take some time to actually reach your desired temperature. And then you also have the ability to change the temperature for the different zones. So you can have one zone at negative four and the other zone at 30. You also have two temperature or cooling modes. So you have max and then you also have eco.

So eco is gonna be your energy saving setting. Max is your fastest cooling setting. So just be mindful if you have it plugged in, keep it on max, if you have it unplugged and just going on a long trip, keep it on eco. So this uses about 90 watts of power and that's something you need to consider if you're using a portable power system. If you're using a solar panel, I do recommend up to a hundred watts solar panel with that power system.

You can also plug this into the wall charger so you have the option of just charging up your entire cooler. Plug that into the wall. You can see that green light turn on. There's also the other option of removing the battery itself after turning this off. And then you can plug in the battery. So if you are preparing for your trip and you wanna make sure that your cooler is all charged up it will take about eight hours from zero to fully charged when plugged into the wall. So I do recommend just plugging it in leaving it in overnight. Also, if you are plugging in or charging up just the battery I do recommend going at least 30% charged up with it plugged into the wall. And then you can use those alternate sources of power like solar. Now there is a solar power plug here but just make sure you have the correct plug. This uses a 5.5 by 2.5 millimeter jack. That is a bit of an uncommon size, so just double check yours. So this is a portable cooler and you can see that by how it has handles on one side, you have the wheels on the other side but when this is all stocked up with food and drinks it can be pretty hefty and hard to cart around. So on its own, it weighs 43.2 pounds. Add up the weight of everything else. To help you out, you do have this extendable handle so just pull those triggers, bring this out, it clicks into place and now it makes it easier for you to bring it around. So if I wanna put this in my vehicle or in my truck or in a trailer I would need to know how much space to take up. So we do have some measurements on our site but I like to give very generous measurements just because there's things you may have to consider like that handle over there on the end. So for length it's about 27 and 1/2 inches. And for width, I measure it from the end of one wheel to the other and that's gonna be 18 inches. So when putting the cooler into different spots here's a tip, you can make it easier for yourself by just taking the baskets out first. This is also a good time to start loading up your baskets with food. You can also move your lid around by just bringing that up out of its tab and putting it over to the other side. That way, once it is in your car or vehicle you can make it easier to access for yourself. And before loading everything back in, don't forget there is a drain plug right here that will make it easier for you to clean this thing out. I like to just put water and just rinse that out let it drain out before I put the food back in. So to flip that lid around, you do have to get one tab in and then the other side slides down. To move it around, just do that in reverse order. So if it is stored in your hatch or in your trunk like what we have here in our hatch you can keep this plugged in to your 12 volt plug if you have one in your vehicle. I know some vehicles like the 4Runner even have like a wall outlet style plug in there. One thing to remember though when this is plugged into your vehicle is be really mindful that you don't kill your battery. So if your car is not running or if it's in idle you might wanna unplug the refrigerator so it doesn't make that power draw. So we saw where the cooler can go but what goes in the cooler Well, you have the left chamber you've got the right chamber. I would recommend using the right chamber as your freezer because you have less space to cool down. And then that would leave your left chamber open for your larger items. So this would be great as the refrigerator. So you can see the different types of things we have in the baskets, but let's take some measurements. So for the large basket we have a height packed bottom of 17 and 1/2 inches. There is a width of 10 inches and a length of 11 and 1/4 inches. For the smaller basket, you have a width of seven and 1/4 inches, a length of 11 and 1/2 inches. And finally a height of 10 and 1/2 inches. You can see the types of items we have in here. So the small basket is perfect for our half gallon jug of milk. We have our larger basket where you put a carton of cans straight in there. You can take the cans out and stack them three cans high or stack them three cans wide. And we have our two liter bottle of soda as well which you could put on top of cans or on its own. So you can see how helpful it'd be just to pack everything up ahead of time and then drop in or take out the baskets as needed. Now when you open up the lid you'll find another little fun feature here, and that is it has a cutting board attached. You can move this around although the latch is only on that side and when you close the lid it fits perfectly into this slot on top. So you can use your cooler as your prep station as well. You also have four little cutouts there. Perfect place to put your can or your mug in the morning as you get things set up. So comparing this with some other options for refrigeration or for cooling, we have the Truma cooler. So the Truma cooler has a bunch of different options in terms of how large a cooler you want, how many quarts, the storage, if you want single zone or dual zone versus our Everchill cooler here which has a single option. The downside to this is it's single zone, it only refrigerates your food or freezes all at the same time. You don't have the dual zone that the Everchill has where one side freezes, the other side refrigerates. If you do want a dual zone option for the Truma cooler, you would have to start looking at the much larger coolers in terms of volume. So it really is, if you want portability go with Everchill. If you want more efficient cooling and more space as well as a rugged look, you would go with a Truma cooler. Now, when you are plugged into different sources of power especially when you're plugged into your car you would make sure you have a lot of battery protection and if you press the gear or the settings button hold it for three seconds, you can then cycle through the different levels of protection. So there's high, which is good if you're connected to your car battery. That way if your car turns off, this will sense that. And it can also turn off too and it won't drain your battery. Now, if you're plugged into the wall or into let's say another power source you might wanna go down to medium or to low because you don't need as much battery protection. So my personal thoughts on our Everchill portable cooler here is it's really designed more as a car refrigerator than a dedicated electric cooler. That's because there are other options out there that are more efficient when it comes to the storage space and they might cool faster. Now, the downsides to those is they don't have the features like wheels or the included lithium battery. So it really is trying to see what type of adventures are you going on Do you need portability of this cooler And you're fine with losing out on some of that storage space. If it is okay for you, then this would still be a good option. Now, if you want even more information, you can check out our product pages where we have all those specs and those numbers listed down there. You can check out our pictures, you can compare the different coolers you can find here at atrailer.com. But right here, right now, this was a look at the Everchill portable electric cooler that has 55 quarts of space as well as an included lithium battery here at etrailer.com..
