Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at the GFCI outlet cover. This is going to protect your outdoor GFCI style outlets. It's going to keep them dry in wet conditions. We all know that water and electricity are not a good match, so having this cover is going to help keep the water away from your electrical outlets.
You can see it does have this spring loaded lid with a built-in seal that's going to cover there when we have it closed. That's going to help keep all that moisture out. This does have a universal design, which is going to allow it to cover any standard rectangular receptacle, including your fifth wheel landing gear switch. So you could also use it for that, give it a little bit more diversity. This is also going to include the weatherproof gasket and mounting hardware to get this installed, as well as instructions. Our mounting hardware, we've got two 1 inch long screws and two 1/4 inch long screws.
As far as our dimensions, for our cover itself, we're going to be looking at right about 4 and 3/4 of an inch wide. The height is right about 2 and 13/16 of an inch tall. And then our max thickness, it's going to be right about. Let me try and get this turned around here, so I can see better. About 15/16 of an inch, not quite 1 inch thick.
That's the thickest portion. That's the portion that will stick out from your wall. When we open it up, our internal opening there, we're going to be right about 2 and 5/8 of an inch wide. Then the height on the inside, right about 1 and 5/16 of an inch tall. So it should work with your standard GFCI style outlets.Keep in mind this is the black option.
There's also a polar white option available. It's the exact same thing, same materials, same dimensions. It's just in the polar white option. So if that works better for your color scheme, that is something that you can go with as well. Both are going to do a great job of protecting your outlets from the weather so that you don't have to worry about that power and water connection. That's going to complete our look at the GFCI outlet cover.
