This smart converter charger converts AC shore power into DC power and uses the Charge Wizard multistage charging system to charge your battery bank. If your RV already has a stock converter charger, it will need to be removed to ensure this unit operates properly.
Using the built-in Charge Wizard, the converter charger automatically switches voltages while the battery bank charges. This accelerates the charge, but also helps extend battery life by adjusting the voltage during the different modes. This charger is compatible with flooded lead acid, AGM, and gel batteries.
Charging Modes
The system includes a number of safety features. It has a reverse polarity protection that will protect the converter if the battery is hooked up incorrectly. Additionally, the unit includes protection for overvoltage, undervoltage, and overcurrent, which can damage your equipment, as well as the converter. It also has GFCI protection that shuts off power when there is a current imbalance. The built-in cooling fan also removes excess heat from the unit. The fan speed is proportional to the internal temperature on the converter, so when the power demand is low, the fan will operate quietly.
The Converter Status Remote Pendant (sold separately) monitors the converter's charging status. It also allows you to manually override the charge process to verify the unit is operating properly. The pendant uses a flashing green LED to indicate what charging mode is active. It easily connects to the converter's accessory port with the attached cable.
The converter mounts horizontally inside your RV in a dry location with ventilation. However, as long as the unit has sufficient ventilation, it can also be mounted vertically. The mounting hardware is not included.
The DC output terminals wire to the battery bank. The AC in cord plugs into a 120V 3-wire grounded source.

I have 2 of these. One just literally burned up after two years of very light duty, as it is only used as a backup for solar. I just purchased 2 more as a replacement and spare. None of them were shipped in the original packaging or with documentation. All were just put in a box with a piece of paper for padding.
I installed the unit to charge my 24v forklift battery pack. It's seems to be working great. I do wish there were LED lights to indicate which of the 4 operating modees it is in.
I received the power converter in a timely manner. I have been updating components for my 2005 Lance 815 pickup camper. The installation instructions were easy to follow. System is working great.
Just what I needed. Only problem is I have two wizards now. They told me that it did not come with the kit. I would like to return.

Been using for one year now. No issues. Batteries stay charged and do not boil.

Easy to install and works perfectly. The previous owner of our Class A M/H install the model for Lithium batteries and really messed thing up for my lead acid batteries. This was the cure.

a lot better than my old one i had to put water in the batteries only after 3 month like four times during the year real good product
Easy installation, Works great
Easy to install and served me well for the past year - almost. Recently it will not charge my battery and I find that both 30A DC fuses are open and I do not know why. The result is no output voltage, of course. Will be calling about this.

Received very Quickly. PD is rated very highly, but I have not used yet. This unit came with the remote Pendant, the description did not say that, so I bought one & now have 2. Thank-goodness it was on $15, so not a big deal. I have always been happy with Etrailer.

When my 40-amp converter suddenly quit working, I began searching for a replacement after confirming with my multimeter that there was no output. I found very few 40-amp and those were very $$$. I contacted etrailer.com to see if I could replace with a 45-amp. A quick response assured me it would assuming the 12v wiring would be heavy enough since an additional 5-amps would be minimal. The installation was very simple, and the system was immediately restored.

Works great. This replaced my original which was connected to 240V, it's worked flawlessly on the 3 weeks of camping since I've bought it.
