Video Transcript for Denver Rest Easy Plush Mattress Review

AJ: What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out the Rest Easy Plush Mattress from Denver Mattresses. This is going to be an upgrade to your existing mattress that's already in your RV or camper. You know that they always have the nice thin ones they come with that aren't very comfortable. Sure, it's better than sleeping on a tent or on the ground, and you're inside in your camper, but I would like to sleep a little bit better. I'd like to sleep like I do at home.

I mean, I relate to it. On my vacation, the worst part of it is the mattress sucks. So I don't get much sleep. I'm on vacation. I'm not going to complain, but it would be great if I could sleep like I do at home.

That's what this provides for you.Let's check it out. Right out of the gate, I'm sure you're wondering how comfortable it is. Instead of talking about it, let's just get right to it. Sitting on it, I can already see a big difference from the thinner mattresses I talked about earlier. I've slept in campers on the bunk bed side and stuff like that.

Not very comfortable. So better than outside but not very comfortable. This is already way better sitting on it. And it's a whole different thing when I lay back down. I got the support on my back.

It feels nice and firm. It's awesome. It was very comfortable when I laid down on it there for a little bit.Another thing is that there's no metal springs on the inside. It's a foam mattress, so there's no creaking of the springs or anything. You don't have to worry about those wearing out, or being noisy and disturbing whoever's on the other side or just making a lot of noise. I threw a cell phone over here, so I can show you. I'll hit my side. You can see the cell phone is moving a little bit but barely. So you don't have to worry about the mattress making a bunch of noise when you get up or jump back down on it.Some of the other options I saw we're our eDream series mattresses that we carry at etrailer.com. Those seem to have a dual side approach to the mattress. So one side is firm, the other one's soft. So if you want that option, that's another route you can go. It's just nice to have that functionality or be able to just flip around if you decide your back's bothering you and you want more support, you can do that. These Denver Mattresses are going to be all one-sided, so you don't have that option with these. These mattresses come in a bunch of different sizes, so make sure you measure yours that you have now before you order your new one. That way they match and you get the right one when you get it back. Because it would be really bad to get it all unpackaged and set up and find out it's too long, or too big, or too short. Now there is difference in sizes too. So there's two different versions of the queen. The queen size by itself is like a queen-sized residential one, so it's the one you have in your house. Queen short is like the queen shorter version for RVs and campers. So that's an important thing to point out too when you're looking at those mattresses online. No matter which one of the Rest Easys you go with, they're all going to be five inches of thickness here. So that's how deep the mattress is and if that's not enough for you, Denver has different lines of mattresses. They're going to offer different variants of thickness. So you got the Rest Easy Euro, the RV Supreme, and the RV Luxe to look at.The other thing a lot of people worry about is how much of a hassle is it to get this mattress inside. It's not exactly your normal sized hallway, you got less space coming in your RV. It's actually pretty simple. Check out how we did it.When you first get your mattress, it's going to come in a box. We're going to go ahead and slice that box open, or we already did, and then I'll take the mattress out. It's all rolled up, making it really easy to get through the door and get it where you need it.I'm going to lay it down in place. We're going to peel off the first layer of plastic. It's very important that we don't use a knife and puncture this or try and slice it open. That's not how it's designed. You're going to peel off the first layer. Then we'll lay out the mattress and go from there. All right. We're getting close for it to unroll. Just want to show you the difference that I'm talking about. This is the vacuum-sealed plastic. This is why we didn't want to use a knife. You puncture that, this pops open and gets air. You don't want that happening while you're still trying to unroll it. You want to get it in place before you do that. Now is the time where you can actually use a knife. I got it set up so that I can poke a hole far away from the mattress over here and it'll still get air over there. So let's do it. I can already hear it making noises. I got that started. I set the knife aside, and I'll rip the rest with my hands. Now all you got to do is wait about 24 hours and come back and check out the mattress. And we're back. Now that I let the mattress sit for a little bit, it didn't seem to get any bigger than it was. But it definitely seems more firm than when we left it. For this being the entry-level mattress, it is still pretty dang comfortable. I sat down on it, not super impressed, but it's really when you lay back down on it, you can feel how it does have the back support. It is firm. It feels pretty comfortable, like I said. It's much better than the ones I've slept on with the bunks and the bunk beds, where the mattress is like that thick. And you lay on that, you're camping. You think, oh, whatever. At least I'm indoors. It's better than sleeping in a tent. But you can sleep like you sleep at home with a mattress like that. This is definitely the way to go now I'm laying down on it. That'd being said, we had a conversation with inaudible 00:05:42 earlier. You should check that out and see the different types of mattresses.Welcome everybody to the Ohio 00:05:46. Today, we're going to be checking out the Denver line of mattresses. We have four of them laid out here. We got the Rest Easy. This one would be the thinnest of all of them. And you can feel it when you sit down on it, you can kind of feel the ground or the bunk. We put it in an RV, you can feel it underneath. But when you lay down on it, I feel like it has a bunch more support. It gets more credit than I thought I originally gave it when I laid back down on it. Definitely get that support on your back and you don't feel the ground or anything. So I think it still works when you lay down. You got the one that step up from it. This is going to be the Rest Easy with the Euro top. And what that is is it's kind of like a pillow top mattress put on top of it. So you got the foam core here, just like the other Rest Easy. There's no springs involved and you've got that extra layer of padding. So you definitely feel the difference between this one and the other Rest Easy. This one's way more comfortable than the standard one. I kind of prefer this one because it's right there, kind of in the middle of all of them. The one next to it would be the Supreme. This one has a thicker layer of foam here and that same Euro top on it. So it's got that extra layer here that makes this one very firm. You can definitely feel there's way more support on this one than the other two. I like this one as well. And then finally would be the Luxe edition. This one is a combination of springs and foam, but it's not just metal springs in there. They're actually surrounded by the foam. So even as you push down on it or lay on it, you're not going to hear the springs, you're not going to feel the springs like you kind of do in the e-Dream mattresses. So it's kind of like, good, better, best. And then the last two are kind of the best options. Just inaudible 00:07:55. So probably the good option, the first two options would maybe be for someone who occasionally camps or for a guest bed rather than the other two are maybe kind of full-timers. AJ: Yeah. inaudible 00:08:08 Okay. AJ: That's why I kind of said in the video, like you said, if you only camp a couple times during the summer, you're probably not going to want to invest in a residential-style mattress. You probably don't care that much. But if you're going south for the winter or whatever, you're probably going to want to invest in a mattress that feels like you're at home. Okay. The thing I was most curious about is what the comfort levels was, how firm or soft they were. Because I know for the e-Dream, we created that chart to show you where all the mattresses and some of those mattresses are dual-sided, so where the different sides fall on that scale. I don't know if you or Aiden had the chance to look at those in the past, but I didn't how they compared in comfort and firmness to those. AJ: We have a guest star with us. Jeff's here too, and he was helping us figure that part out. We actually had . I don't know, we had different . Because these are different than the other ones so we couldn't really compare them the same, because the softest necessarily wasn't the best. It was hard to do with a scale. The scale that we made before didn't really apply to these. We're going to have to do some kind of new scale for this one, because these aren't dual-sided either. So that also applies, what you get is what you get. There's not another side to things. Jeff: Yeah, we're in the process of revising that original scale too, just because there is firm and soft, but there's also a level of support or quality that you can feel with these. For example, the Euro top and the regular base model e-Dream are about the same price. This one though, supports your weight better than the free springs in the e-Dream. So it's better comfort, but we wanted to be able to say the quality is where the difference is in those two mattresses. And then when you go up, obviously the Deluxe and Supreme e-Dreams are really, really, really nice. So I haven't really compared them to this Luxe yet, but it's super objective, which is hard. But we're going to try our best to make a new scale to look at to kind of convey the softness and firmness but also the quality. Speaker 4: Okay. So within just these ones that we have right here, would you be able to kind of quickly rate them Like, soft to firm These ones on video right now AJ: Yeah. Jeff: I mean, I guess you could say that one crosstalk 00:10:54 over there is the softest because you go right through the foam, and you can feel the floor pretty quickly. But it still has a decent level of support when you're spreading your weight out across it. So that's what we run into, these are all foam. So they're all objectively soft compared to the firmer e-Dreams. AJ: Because you're not going to feel the springs like you do in the e-Dream crosstalk 00:11:20. Jeff: Right, exactly, you sink into these foam crosstalk 00:11:22. So they're soft. So I would say that these are all ranked on the softer side of that scale, but they support you really well, which is different because on that base model e-Dream, there's no support there with the springs. So it's really tough to narrow it down as far as what we want to convey about them. AJ: I mean, in terms of comfort, for me, it's just exactly how they're laid out. They get better as you go up through all of them. Do we know any, in terms of how long this foam is going to last So I would imagine the springs are actually kind of last longer than just a slab of foam, but I don't know if we have done any research on that or if we have any idea how long it'll be before it just doesn't want to pop back up or starts to degrade Speaker 4: I haven't done any research on those yet. I know, I think most of these mattresses have a 10-year warranty. I could be wrong about that. But that's definitely something I can look into. This project's at the top of the list for me, so it's definitely something I can look into when we get started on them. Speaker 5: So speaking on these brands specifically, I don't really know. But when I was just messing around, Googling foam and springs and all that kind of stuff, I saw a lot of people more concerned about springs wearing out than foam, I guess, flattening or not popping back up or something like that. People seemed really concerned about springs. AJ: crosstalk 00:12:56 Speaker 4: I wonder if that's in models that don't have a lot of foam in it too. If it's just a box spring. Mm-hmm (affirmative). AJ: It sure depends on how much you use them too. If you don't use them a couple of times in summer, it's going to last really long. inaudible 00:13:18 earlier, if throw some boxes in there when you pack up your RV. I don't know if that's going to cause any issues either if you put some heavy stuff on there when you're not using it. It's definitely using it. Speaker 5: Yeah. I think the coils that are in the Deluxe in the spring mattress, I think they're what's called pocket coils. And those tend to typically lasts longer than most other types of inner spring mattresses. So I don't think it will last. Probably won't last as long as the Allstone, but it will still probably last a little bit longer than your traditional inner spring mattress. Just based on research I had done for the eDream and way back when when we first had these on that research that I found. Speaker 4: So those of you who are there and had laid down on them, even if you don't have an RV, like how do they feel compared to your mattress at home Or would you be willing to actually sleep on any of these Jeff: The one that AJ's on right now is probably the nicest one of this line. That's the other thing, it's hard to compare the foam ones. Because like just in my history of living on earth, I don't know that I've ever slept on a purely foam mattress before. But this one right here is really, really close to a residential mattress. And I would venture to say that I could sleep that one easily. The other ones, what I don't like, so for me personally, I toss a little bit when I sleep. So sinking into the foam ones isn't super comfortable for me because it feels like it's restricting my movement. But that's on a personal level for how I sleep. And that's another thing that's kind of hard about judging the firmness of these. But yeah, definitely the Luxe is the closest to residential out of these four. AJ: For me, the Luxe would be too much. I mean, these are all way better I've learned today than the mattress I have. So I think it's time for me to get a new mattress, because mine really sucks compared to all of these. I would take that one instead of the mattress I have right now, but- Speaker 4: We'll make you a deal. AJ: What was that We'll make you a deal. Don't worry. AJ: Yes. Please. I need it now. This one's next. Speaker 4: The mattress at home you have sucks, apparently. Have you ever been on a futon too Like I have a friend who had a futon for 20 years and it's just a basic pillow. So I would think even the really thin foam is going to be better than that too. Right Jeff: Yeah. That beats my couch at home too. I've slept on that. I would go with one of these because I like a little more support. I need it to be a little more firm for my back and stuff from going to the gym or whatever. I've got a bad lower back or whatever. So this really feels like it supports it the whole time. So all night I'd like to see what exactly that does. Is it going to help me or is it going to make it worse It feels pretty awesome when I lay down right now. So when you we're kind of going down the line and explaining what each one of these were, you said something about the eDream. Did you say you like these better than the eDream, is that what you said Jeff: Yes. From the experience. I mean, except for the top of the line eDream, inaudible 00:16:43. But I like that I didn't feel. The eDreams I laid on before this, I can feel the springs and I didn't like that. You can kind of hear this graves already got kind, guess they're going to get even more noisy. Is it hard to, I mean, you can't hear it. But I mean- So the base model of eDreams, I would say are kind of like a cheap motel mattress and you can definitely feel the spring matrix inside of them. But the Deluxe and the Supreme, these are really hard to be at all. I mean, these things are tanks as mattresses. They're so comfortable. Yeah. I laid down on those when they did the demo videos for the eDream and yeah. The Deluxe and especially the Supreme. Yeah. I could definitely sleep on that for sure. Speaker 5: That's what I was going to say. I really liked those and I thought they we're really, really comfortable. So if these are comparable to those then nice. Jeff: I think for support wise. So I would probably put the thinnest one at the end. For me personally, I put the eDream next. But then the Euro top and this thicker one, I would place over the eDream, then probably the Luxe and then you go into our Deluxe and Supreme. I think that would be the order as far as support and comfortable to sleep on. But then to find which one is actually softer than the other one or which one is firmer, I mean, we're going to have to do the dress test to really get a number as to which one is springier and things like that. Speaker 4: So one that we we're just looking at, I guess it was one of the eDreams, it said something about cool, like cool top or cool inaudible 00:18:26. So yeah, it says cool air. So is that like a different kind of material that maybe ventilates a little bit better Because- It's memory foam. Speaker 4: It's just memory foam. I think memory foam, let me double check that. Speaker 4: I know sometimes foam depending on what kind, it can make it hot. I mean it can really hold in your body temperature. So I was just wondering if that was a different kind. Jeff: Well, I means, yeah. So like this material on top is really. I mean, loose as far as like. If you come in closer, you can see the threads. So it's really ventilated. And on the top, we have a much tighter stitch. So I can see that not breathing as well. AJ: They say it's a cool top, bro. Jeff: Do they really AJ: Yeah. They say that in the description. This is meant to have the cool top. Jeff: Yeah. I mean, yeah. The stitching is similar, but I don't know. There's something about the eDream that's. I think it's probably just the pattern on it that makes it feel more plush. Speaker 4: Yeah. So the Deluxe eDream, that has just a regular polyurethane foam whereas the Supreme is the one that has the memory foam. Jeff: Okay. I don't know, because there are two different things with some of the eDream ones. There was the cover over it, they said it was supposed to breathable, which would help keep it a little bit cooler. And then some of the eDream mattresses, the higher end ones, they had a specific gel memory foam that was the whole purpose of it. And because they know that foam can kind of be a little warm and so it helps to keep you cool. But I don't know if the cool air, if that's referring to that gel memory foam or that's referring to the net cover that they say is breathable and cool. Jeff: There's a gel in here. You can actually feel a gel. I don't know if there's anything like that on here. No, there's not. Speaker 5: The band mattress topper that I have is like two layers. And the layer that's on top is foam, but then there's a layer underneath that's kind of that like gel. So it's supposed to keep it a little bit more breathable, I guess. I mean, they do crazy different things with all mattresses. I just know just pure foam can get a little toasty. Jeff: I agree. Speaker 5: Do you have to measure or is there a way to just know, yes, I have a short bed in my RV AJ: I just recommended measure what they got and see what you got there or measuring the space where that mattress would go. Usually the space is pretty much all I got. The two that we did, we did on Linda's RV, James' uncle's RV. The spot is pretty much a cut out where you put that mattress. So you can just measure there and see what's going to fit, because anything more than that is not going to fit, even the bed stands inaudible 00:00:21:23. It's pretty much just that hold cut out. Speaker 4: Are you going to have any trouble with inaudible 00:21:29 depending on the height also, or at my end, I don't know if I'm thinking more of bunk beds. AJ: Yeah. I think that'll be more on the bunk beds, easy. Yeah. The bunk beds mattresses are usually as thin or maybe thinner than that last one. Yeah. I don't think their bunk mattress, I don't think like height's really going to be an issue. I think we have crosstalk 00:21:58. Huh AJ: inaudible 00:22:01, wouldn't it I don't know. crosstalk 00:22:03 I think the bunk mattresses are narrower than that. AJ: Okay. I think we also have a three quarter mattress sized mattress too. And I think a full, I think. So those are going to be even smaller. Jeff: inaudible 00:22:33. Yeah. I don't want to test the bunk bed ones. I'm good. Jeff: inaudible 00:22:32. I did. I was curious cause I know we're adding also like the fold-up beds. I don't know if you've had your hands on those samples yet, if we're doing a video on those. Okay. AJ: I don't know yet. Jeff: We don't have the proper vehicle for it, I think. Okay. I'd be really curious to have another huddle down the line about those because we didn't have those on the site before when we have these, the flippers. So I'd be interested. Jeff: Fold up beds, that's like the inaudible 00:23:14 that comes out of the wall and you just push it back up. Is that what you're talking about I think so. I'll have to look back at my notes. But the rep from Denver mattress mentioned specifically that they made these specifically for certain like RV bed. I think it was Thor, something. Specific inaudible 00:23:36 motor homes, but it can also work in others. I'll have to look back on that, but- AJ: All right. They would have mentioned most slide out beds or foldable beds, it would work with as long as the dimensions are correct. AJ: I will say that I was surprised doing this project. I didn't do the eDream mattresses before. I got my hands on during this. But I was worried, I thought that I wasn't going to have enough talk about with each of the mattresses as I went down the line. Because I was like, oh, how different can they really be.But I was really impressed today. Each one of them is very different. So that was pretty cool as a learning experience kind of thing. Oh no, there's a big difference. Now you've seen that discussion, you know all the different types of mattresses they offer and you can maybe better figure out which one's going to be best for you in your rig or do you use it all the time, a bunch of trips. Do you go out for all summer or go to Florida for the winter or do you want to use it a couple of times during the summer So you don't want a really expensive mattress. All the options are there. Thanks for hanging out. And I hope this helped.

Could find no mattress the size needed 30x72...for my custom made storage bed in my den ....for my grandchildren...the mattress seems fine for occasional use....thank you so much

We bought our first RV in 1980. Last month we bought our 6th. Were full-time for 12 years. Sadly, we just recently discovered etrailer. Etrailer has great products and their shipping couldn't be better. From now on, etrailer is our main source of RV RV parts and supplies.

As for our most recent purchase. The mattress was an excellent choice and we couldn't be more pleased.

Real good

by:

It's a little harder than I'm use to, but it will soften up over the next few years.

by:

Flimsy and creaked when you moved. It had to go to [donation center].

by:

It works great
Molly was very helpful

Product was of high quality. I was pleased with the first impression of mattress, when we unboxed it. But this bed is not for me. This may be the perfect mattress for someone who can sleep on a firm bed. My preference is for something that is very cushioned and soft. I have a euro top mattress at home and was looking for something more cushy than the RV mattress that came with our travel trailer. I'm not putting down this mattress; just saying not for me.

Mattress for my houseboat arrived about 2:00 in the afternoon. About 2:30, I get an email from Carol C., who is probably a bot, asking for a review. Since I hadn't yet opened the box, I couldn't really give a proper comment. However, my black and tan coon hound, Ollie, was fascinated by the box, and once I got it unpacked, he jumped on to the mattress and pronounced it "great". (He will get to sleep on the mattress once it makes it way to the boat, located at Moutardier Marina on Nolin Lake. . It is indeed a nice mattress, and I will buy a second one for the top bunk shortly.

And I will add that I have been an etrailer customer for over ten years, and I have been quite happy with them.

Ollie says hello.

Converted a cargo van for traveling and used this mattress along with 4" memory foam underneath. Very comfortable mattress. One product I am having trouble finding is a mattress cover for this size. Have recommended this mattress to others.

The Denver mattress was a huge improvement over the stock ones that came with our RV. I would recommend it for anyone who puts high priority on a good nights sleep.

There was no specific temperature that I could find in my research that indicated the Denver Mattress Rest Easy RV Mattress # DE89ZR would be unable to be stored in the cold that occurs in a place such as Wyoming. The mattress is going to get hard as a rock during this time however and simply to keep it in the best condition possible I recommend taking it out of your RV and storing it inside if at all possible just to be safe.
