Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the JR Products compartment door key lock. This is going to replace a worn out or damaged lock on your compartment door on your RV, or really anywhere that has that standard size. This is going to measure seven eighths of an inch long and about five eighths of an inch in diameter. And that's going to be for the flat sides there.
We measure it from. The threaded size is about three quarters of an inch in diameter, or again, about five eighths. So this is going to have the ring or nut ring to get that in place, so we can get that tightened down to our compartment door and get it secured. On the backside, we'll have either a straight or offset blade and that square end is going to be what actually attaches to our lock and then the nut and star washer to get that in place. It also comes with the two keys so you can of course lock and unlock it. And I'll go over the measurements with you in just a second.
But basically once we have everything assembled, we'll be able to lock and unlock that as normal. Again, the length on this is going to be seven eighths of an inch. That's going from the bottom of the head to the end of the threads there, or the end of the lock itself. The offset for this is going to be about a quarter of an inch. That's giving you about the difference there, the distance or the length of that blade is about an inch and a half. If we go from the outside of the bolt that it's actually held on to, it's about an inch and a quarter or about an inch and a half if we go to the center of that bolt.
It's going to be about the same for our straight blade. So about an inch and a half from the center of that. And then it's just about a half inch wide. This is going to be a chrome-plated zinc and discovered by a lifetime warranty from JR products. And that's pretty much going to do it for our look at the JR products compartment door key lock..
