Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Bauer products matte black door lock for your horse or utility trailer. Now, this is a nice locking latch that lets you secure the door on your horse or utility trailer. This is gonna let you upgrade the original latch on the trailer to this durable locking latch. It is designed to fit a standard cutout measuring 2 3/4 inches wide by 3 3/4 inches tall.
It is a sturdy, glass-reinforced nylon and zinc construction. And you can see it has a nice, rust-resistant, matte black powder coat finish over the whole lock. Does include everything shown here. Comes with the door lock, the two keys. Comes with the door edge plate and the hardware.
And it also comes with the door striker plate. Now, the striker plate does not come with any hardware, and the main reason is because they don't know what you're gonna, what type of material you'll be attaching this to. So, they don't include any hardware, they want you to supply that. And just to show you, basically, you can see when this is installed, if you grab the paddle handle right here and lift it open, it'll release the latch. On the inside, same way.
If you grab this paddle and pull it, it'll unlock the door. On the inside, very bottom here, you'll see this little twist handle. You'll see the two red dots lined up, that means the latch is open. If you twist it, the deadbolt will come out and secure it. And then twist it back to where the dots line up, and it's open.
Now, from the outside, you do know you need to use the key to activate the deadbolt. You just put your key into the lock and once you have your key in there, you can see just by twisting it, that it'll activate the deadbolt. Turn it the other way and it'll open it. So, on the outside, you activate that deadbolt with the keys. On the inside, you can just use this knob right here. Now, it does also come with the hardware to put these two pieces together. Now, I've already done that just to show you what it looks like. When you get it, it'll be two separate pieces, so when you do install it and put it together, you use those screws to put it all together. Few dimensions on this, the outside portion is gonna be 3 11/16 inches wide, and a height of 4 1/2 inches tall. We mentioned the cutout dimension is 2 3/4 inches wide, 3 3/4 inches tall. And it is designed to fit doors that are 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch thick. But that should do it for the review on the Bauer Products matte black door lock for your horse or utility trailers..

The door lock works great, no instructions on how to cut the door to install.
Closing the door with this door lock has left a open gap at the top of the door.
Needed to add a slide lock for the top of the door.
Looks nice from the inside and outside.
I really like the slide bolt lock.
