Video Transcript for Review of Duracell RV Inverters - Modified Sine Wave Inverter - DU89FR

Ellen: Hey everybody. I'm Ellen, here at etrailer.com. And we're looking at the Duracell High Power Inverter. This is a really important component to have with you whenever you are out on the road, or you're going to be using anything to power your accessories. If you've got onboard batteries, but you want to be able to use a hairdryer, or you want to be able to use a coffee maker, this is going to allow you to do that.A lot of accessories and a lot of appliances will use AC power or alternating current to power those up. But the batteries that we have on our vehicle, those give us direct current or DC power, so you need to be able to transfer one to the other.

This helps you to do that. The nice thing about this is that it does have some safety features, and it also is designed to make sure that you have as much power as you can.So, really, the main thing they want to match up is how much power you're going to need from the unit to match with it so that you can always keep all of your accessories and all your appliances running as much as you need to. It does come with a pretty good layout of the instructions. They have some charts on the types of wires that you want to use, and the length, because that does matter, especially once you get into bigger gauge wire and more power output. And also a little chart as far as how to gauge what you'll need.So that's nice that it comes with it.

As far as this unit overall, I think this is a pretty good choice for a lot of applications. Anytime that you want to be able to run anything that has, again, a heating element like that, that usually takes a lot of power draw. So you'll want to be able to get that power from your batteries. It comes with a remote switch as well so you can mount this in a different location than the unit itself. Typically, these are going to be mounted closer to your actual batteries. That is oftentimes a hard to get to spot, especially if it's going to be on an RV where maybe you have those batteries in one of those lower compartments.

You don't want to have to get in there every time to turn this on or off. You can mount the switch inside your coach and not have to get out and mess with that. This measures about 16 feet long, about 16 and four inches long, so it should give you a good amount of length to make that connection. And then it just plugs right in on the end here. This also has the onboard turning on and off switch. It has a little LED display to show you what the output is.

You can switch that from watts to volts by using the little a toggle here at the bottom. So you can see what's going on there. We'll have three AC outlets. And then there's also a more permanent AC outlet, if you remove this little cover. It just takes a Phillips-head screwdriver to pop that off. So if you want to have something a little bit more permanent, you can do that there. I'm going to undo these screws so you can take a look at what I mean. There's two little Phillips-head screws here to get this cover off. There's two more threads on there.Of course, Duracell is a really trusted name, so I think that that gives you the confidence to know that this is a really well-made product. You really shouldn't have any issues with it. Here we go. So you can see that connection inside. So we can wire in directly to that to get the AC power we need converted from our DC batteries. On the opposite side, we'll have the fans to help keep the unit cool. So you want to make sure that there's plenty of room around that backside so that it can get that air circulation that it needs so it doesn't overheat. There's also our connections to the batteries. We'll have our negative and positive terminals. Again, comes with some wire to get that connection made. It's about two feet of wire. So if you're not going too far, if this is going to be mounted in that same compartment where those batteries are, you should be good there. But again, if you want to extend it out further than that, the instructions that come with this do have a pretty good chart that lays out what kind of wire, how big it needs to be, and how far you can go with that. You can also find that instruction link here at our website at etrailer.com. There is an instruction details on the page, so you can check those out before you grab this guy, just to see what kind of stuff you need. As far as the specs with this. It works with 12-volt battery systems. The running or rated power output is 300 watts. The starting or surge power output is up to 6,000 watts. The voltage is an input of 12 volts DC, and it can give you an output of 115 volts AC. It can operate between 23 degrees Fahrenheit up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. It measures about 60.5 inches long, and 10 and three-sixteenths inch wide, and about three and five-eighths inch tall. It does weigh about 13 pounds, so not super heavy, but also not terribly light. All in all, I think there should be a good addition to your power setup. Of course, it is an important component on your RV to get those accessories to run. I'm going to wait to put those little screws back in so you're not having to watch me do that every time. That's pretty much all there is to it for our quick look at the Duracell Power Inverter. I hope this has been helpful in understanding if this is the right piece for you. We do have a lot of other power accessories and RV accessories in general here at etrailer.com. So if you need anything else, check us out. Thanks for watching.

Review from a similar Modified Sine Wave in RV Inverters

etrailer did a great job of following up some small problems with the order. The inverter arrived on time. I have tested it but not used it hard in the field but all the equipment I want to run with it does fine. The product seems to have a plastic case vs metal but is still good quality. There are no rubber feet so I installed felt pads to keep it from sliding around in the car and to reduce vibration sound. The supply cords are a little short.

  • What Is A Good Inverter For the 350-450 Price Range.
A power inverter, or inverter, is a power electronic device or circuitry that changes direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). So it will turn your battery power (DC) into (AC) like your house. This lets you use appliances and devices that are only capable of using AC power. The Go Power Heavy-Duty Modified Sine Wave Inverter - 3,000 Watts - 12V # 34280178 is my choice. It has inverter and transfer switch functions so you don't need to manually switch from shore power to inverter....
