Video Transcript for HydroMax RV Fresh Water Pump Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the HydroMax RV Fresh Water Pump, part number P25201.The HydroMax works as a direct replacement for a three gallon per minute 12 volt pump. You can also use it for new plumbing in an RV, enclosed trailer, or marine application. You can position it anywhere you need it in either a vertical or horizontal position. The built in check valve prevents backflow, and the built in strainer prevents unwanted debris from entering the pump. The internal bypass provides low cycling and low noise, and the durable, flexible mount reduces vibration and noise. It automatically turns on and off when it senses a pressure different from your faucet. As you can see, when it's on, you can hear it pumping, and then when we turn it off, it automatically shuts off.It has a self-priming design, and unlike some other pumps, it can run dry without damage.

It uses a standard half inch diameter hose fitting, inlet, and outlet. They are flexible high pressured fittings, and they're designed with tapered seals for a watertight connection. It'll pump three gallons per minute at up to 55 psi. We've got out old pump installed. Let's see how long it takes to fill the sink up. Looks like it took a minute, 51 seconds.

Now with our new pump installed, let's see how long it takes to fill up our sink. Now our two pumps are rated about the same. As you can see, over time, our old one has lost a step. Our new one is able to pump water much faster. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. The first thing you need to do is remove your old pump.

You'll need to make sure the pump is shut off and the power is disconnected. Our pump is located just beneath our sink. Yours might be located in a different spot. Once your pump is off, you want to be sure and make sure there's no pressure in the lines. You can release the pressure by simply opening up the sink and letting it all run out.Now we're down at our pump.

There's probably still going to be some residual water in the lines, so it's a good idea to lay a towel down. On our pump, our water in is simply connected by a hose clamp. Our out, we can just unscrew. We'll start here. Get this disconnected. On the other side . now, you can use a screwdriver or a socket. We'll just be taking it loose and then pulling the hose off. You can see our wires here. Use some quick splice connectors and cutting this one. Then I'll be cutting both sides of my white wire, which is my ground. Just because they spliced into it. Now we can remove our pump. Ours just has four wood screws going into the floor. Now we can grab our new pump and set it in place. Our newer one has a thicker isolator for vibration, so we're not going to be using that carpet that our old one used. When setting it in place, it's best to line it up with your existing plumbing. That way you don't have to reroute anything. You can see with it in this position, we're going to be able to hook back up and it's not going to be a problem. Now I'm gonna grab my old hardware. Either way, you will have to provide your own. And then I'm just gonna be attaching it to the floor board, just as our old one was. Since our out is the easiest to hook up, I'm gonna go ahead and just take off my covering and do that first. One thing important to remember is there's no need to over tighten. Just get it nice and snug, about like the way it was when we disconnected it.Now the other side, our inlet side gets the filter. This is something our previous water pump did not have. It simply screws on this side. We've got a little indicator which way the water runs. The other side, if you had a thread on adaptor like our outlet, then you would not need the adaptor, but since we had a hose, we'll be attaching our hose to the connector, and then threading it on like so. The kit does come with two, if you need them. We'll take off our protector here, and we'll thread on our filter. Perfect. We're gonna slip it over the bars. Make sure it's all the way on. We'll slide our hose clamp that we used before. You want to make sure you have it about a quarter of the way, and we'll tighten this up.Now the wiring on our new water pump comes pre stripped and soldered. The only thing we need to strip back is our camper's wiring. Now we'll make sure that our wire is bunched up, then we're gonna take some standard butt connectors, which you can pick up on our website, etrailer.com. Gonna slide that in, make sure it makes contact, and we're gonna crimp it. Then we can take our new water pump's power wire, which is the red one, and we'll be connecting it in the opposite end the same way. Now for the ground. Since our previous water pump was spliced in, we're gonna be connecting two sides to our butt connector, and one side to the other.Perfect. Now we can test it out. Let's go ahead and turn our pump back on and check for leaks. Now we'll go ahead and turn on our faucet. There might be some air in the lines. No problem. We'll just let it work its way out. Already you can hear how much quieter the pump is compared to the other one. It looks like our pressure is good too. That's gonna complete our look at the HydroMax RV Fresh Water Pump, part number P25201.

We replaced the worn out water pump last year with a HydroMax in 2018. Unfortunately when prepping for 2019 trailer use the HydroMax pump was left running dry for a lengthy time (15 minutes to 1hour) when the water tank was empty. I filled up the water tank and the pump primed and started to pump. I replaced it with another HydroMax as a precaution. One tough little pump! 666994

haven't installed this pump yet ,but it comes with the filter & hose connectors you pay extra for with "brand X'. The folks at E-TRAILER are GRRREAT! Site is easy to use, excellent selection of quality products , real people to chat with & fast shipping. unlike brand "A". I bet they treat their people better than 'you know who" ! 616298

Ordered and received very quickly. Choose this pump to replace an existing unit that had lost a bit of power and lift. Installation was easy, took about 20 minutes as it was completely plug and play. New unit delivers great pressure with a minimum of cycling. 802532

My RV has made me a jack of all trades. Along with youtube. The video helped a lot except my unit is placed in the bathroom under the sink vs kitchen sink. A tight space with my legs almost in the shower out in the hall. The angles the human body can twist! After installation, I checked for leaks I had a small leak I tightened up the leaky fitting. The pump is a lot quieter for sure I have been very satisfied with all I have purchased from etrailer. From parts for my two vent fans to installed set of tire monitor system. 774735

Worked great for 11 months, used in RV for kitchen sink and low-flow shower. Actually used only 3 of those months. Stopped dead one day while in use. Glad etrailer can manage the return because Valterra was not very responsive. Since I am currently needing the pump (RV on rural property while building a house)I had to buy another pump, then will get a credit when I return the defective one so I have to go without for a week until it is delivered. If I didn't need it, I could have returned defective and gotten replacement without the charge, other than shipping. I would reconsider buying Valterra if I had it to do over. A 2 year warranty is good, but replacing a water pump is not fun. 705593

I ordered this pump as a backup. I got one of these a few months ago to replace the original pump that came in my Open Range 5th wheel. This pump is exceptional as of today. It's quiet, turns on and off at the opening or closing of a valve and provides excellent pressure. I'm only ordering a backup because of the bad experience I had with my previous pump. I hope not to use this for many seasons but I would rather have one in hand than not. Besides it could serve as a backup while I wait on servicable parts for the other. Etrailer has always been great to me up to this point also. Thank you, Pat from Amity, Pa. 680591

Finally got my pump installed after waiting for the heat wave in Indiana to pass. It was a simple process to cut wire loom off old pump and splice onto new pump. 2 splices. No leaks and pump ran very quiet. Mounting holes were slightly different so will drill 3 new ones. Am pleased with price and quality. Would recommend your product to others in a heartbeat. Thank you so .uch. 676736

Another great experience, this was a match to the leaking pump that was in the camper. The online video gave an idea of what I was getting into which was what turned out to be a 20 minute job removing the old pump and installing the new one. Service was fast as I ordered on Sunday morning and order shipped Monday. 661197

  • Replacement for Shurflow 4008-101-A65 Water Pump
The fresh water pumps on motorhomes and trailers are very universal in design so you should have no issues at all replacing the Shurflow 4008-101-A65 with the HydroMax RV Fresh Water Pump part # P25201. These two models both have a three gallon per minute capacity so I do think they would be good replacement options for one another. They are also both self-priming and have built-in check valves so again, good to go.

  • Fresh Water Pump Randomly Comes On without any Faucets Running in Trailer
The first thing I would do is check for leaks. It is possible, even though the trailer was winterized, something froze and cracked. It may not be a bad leak but a leak nonetheless could cause the system to steadily lose pressure which would make the pump run. Since pump # P25201 is automatic it would either be that (loss of pressure) or an electrical issue. You can check the connections and clean any corrosion or debris away. Corrosion could cause a short and make the pump run. I can't...
