Video Transcript for LaSalle Bristol XTRM Butyl Tape Review

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at LaSalle Bristol XTRM Butyl Tape that's 45' long, part number 344270341411-1.This is our 45' roll of butyl tape. Now, we're going to need this butyl tape because this will help keep any of the elements outside of any of the screw holes for when we secure this extrusion onto the side of our trailer. We have our extrusion flipped over right now, and on the back side, this is where we're going to apply our butyl tape. We're just going to apply it down the entire length of it. So we'll roll out a small section and we'll just roll it down the back of it. All right.

Once we have our butyl tape cut down to size, we'll just press it down firmly against the back to hold it in place. All right. Now we have an extra set of hands to help hold the extrusion in place. I'm going to peel back our butyl tape here a little bit just enough to get our front hole exposed. We're going to line it up and get it in the right position, and then we'll secure it using a self-tapping screw. Now I'm going to go to the other side, put a screw hole in place at the end.

Now we'll just use the rest of our screws to secure every hole that we have on the extrusion. You'll notice as we run our screw in through the extrusion and into the butyl tape how the butyl tape will ooze out creating a good seal behind the hole that we're drilling. Our butyl tape will bond with aluminum, metal, fiberglass, and glass and many other materials without a problem. You see here it'll remain flexible, and over the course of time its adhesion abilities will actually get stronger, so it'll really help your item stay in place. It's a synthetic polymer material which is great for sealing around openings. You don't have to worry about water or moisture getting inside your vehicle. All right.

Now that we have our extrusion secured in all the way across, our excess butyl tape here, we can kind of just rub it, make a nice little ball and work it off, try to help clean up our look a little bit. This will also give us a nice seal. We'll just do this down the entire length. As you see we get enough of it built up, you can just pull it off, make ourselves a nice a little ball of it. We do this on the top and bottom of the extrusion all the way down it.

That'll complete our look at LaSalle Bristol XTRM Butyl Tape that's 45' long, part number 344270341411-1.

3rd time is a charm! After ordering the same product elsewhere twice, a trailer came through for us! Exactly what we were needing to complete our project. 576879

- 344270341411-1

Received the 7.5 slide topper in record time. The person I talked to when ordering was very helpful and very friendly. Installed it today on my 2019 Jayco Redhawk 22 foot motorhome. Installation went without any problems. The hardest part was the last step of putting the 1/4" screws in the top rail. Had to put them in the bottom of the rail instead of the top. Not sure if they went through the bead of the topper. Is that a important step. Would appreciate someone getting back to me on that. 640699

Great quality product! Had to redo my 1995 fifthwheel roof and used this for roof vents as well as the side drip rails. Works great, quite sticky too. 721081

Ask the Experts about this LaSalle Bristol RV Exterior

  • Butyl Tape To Seal Trailer Roof Panel Joint
The LaSalle Bristol XTRM Butyl Tape part # 344270341411-1 can definitely be used to seal the joint on the roof your cargo trailer. Butyl tape is used to seal off many roof accessories like trailer vents and fans. Since the butyl tape is pre-formed it is easier to install and get a water tight precise seal compared to some of the liquid sealants that can be more difficult to maneuver. The adhesive on the tape forms a bond with the surface that improves over time. This particular butyl tape...

  • Recommended Slide-Out Awning for 2015 Sanibel 5th Wheel Trailer
You are correct that the Solera 14' Slider (Slide-Topper) in Black w/ Black Hardware # LCV000168110 or white # LCV000163301 is the correct fit for the measurements you gave. This fits measurements from flange to flange of 158 to 163-3/4 inches. This comes with all the hardware needed to install except for the Butyl tape like # 344270341411-1 or silicone sealant like # 344270341437-1. I've attached some videos of the installation to assist. The Solera 12V XL Power RV Awning - 12' Wide - Extra-Long 9'8" Projection - White Fade # LCV000334919-362241 will not allow you to use the Solera Screen Room for 12' RV Awning # LC362215. The longer extension will not work with the screen room as there would be additional fabric still on the roller connection point. The screen room is compatible with the traditional 8 foot extension and will allow you to keep bugs out and enjoy the breeze. It will also provide you with additional...

  • Will Screw-In Snaps for Adco Storage Skirt Affect Integrity of Trailer
The small screw-in snaps for the Adco Storage Skirt # 290-3501 will not affect the integrity of your trailer simply because they're really just going to mount to the exterior panel on the trailer. We have not had any feedback from customers regarding damage or leaking as a result of the screws but if this is something you're concerned with I recommend simply using some butyl tape like # 344270341411-1 to seal everything up.
