Yes, if you:

  • Have the space for a large monitor on your dash so you can see everything at a glance
  • Want to add an extra camera in the future to monitor your cargo while driving or for extra security at a campsite
  • Are on the road a lot and need a camera that is better protected against dirt, heavy rain, and snow

No, if you:

Video Transcript for Rear View Safety Inc Backup Cameras and Alarms - Backup Camera Systems - RVS-2CAM Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the review safety wireless backup camera system with a duel screen monitor. This backup camera system provides you with great quality and a very quick and easy installation process. It is a wireless connection between the camera and the monitor. The monitor gets it's power from a standard 12 volt accessory outlet, which is the same as a cigarette lighter outlet. The camera gets its power from hard-wiring into a power source with the included lead wires. On that wiring you're going to notice that it comes with a grommet right there, that's going to create the seal from exterior to interior.

It will accommodate connection for up to two cameras, so talking about the monitor here. It's got a split screen view so that way you can view the cameras at the same time. The wireless connectivity is guaranteed for up to 70 feet, and that's the amount of distance. It's going to come with two wireless antennas that can easily be installed by screwing into the port on the backside of the unites, and it's going to come with one signal booster, which is this right here. It has a magnetic base and that unit can be used for increased signal if needed. This is a seven inch super sharp LCD digital display, it's going to provide easy viewing.

IT does come with your suction cup mount with an adjustable arm system on it. This units going to feature an auto dimming feature, so that means that the screen will dim in low light conditions. It's also going to come with this removable sunshade that simply just snaps onto the unit. That can be used or not, it just depends on your preference. Now, towards the end of the video we're going to hook it up to power, that way you can actually see what the unit looks like.

But, I do want to mention that it does feature distance grid lines that can be turned on and off very easily. It's got a built in speaker, and it's inaudible 00:01:58 buttons that are easy to see at all times, especially in low light conditions. When it comes to the backup camera it's going to offer 130 degree viewing angle. It's going to feature infrared lights for up to 30 feet of night vision, it's going to feature an IP 68 rating, which means it's going to be completely protected against all whether elements, nice waterproof design, and it's going to feature that adjustable sunshade as well. It's going to feature a built in mic and it's going to have a nice, heavy duty metal construction and the units going to all feature a nice protective finish on it to keep it safe from rust and corrosion. I want to take a look at some measurements for you real quick.

When it comes to the display, now the seven inch display is measuring from the corner of one side to the corner of the other, so diagonal measurement. We go straight across measuring edge to edge of the unit, it's going to give us a measurement of around seven inches. Up and down measurement is going to be around five and one quarter. Then you can see that it does have a nice, thin design as well. When it comes to the measurements of our camera if we measure edge to edge going this direction that's going to be right around three inches, maybe three and one eight right in that area. Then with it straight up and down it's going to give us a height measurement of right around four inches tall. Now, those measurements will very a little bit depending on how you have the camera mounted and how you have it situated for your application. You'll see that it comes with a pre-drilled mounting bracket, that way you can get it easily installed. It's also going to come with all your necessary mounting hardware. The distance between these holes going center on center, that's going to be about one and seven eights of an inch. Center on center going this direction it's going to be about one and one eight. The bracket measures about one and three quarters of an inch by right around three inches. We're going to and hook it up to some power, that way you can get a good idea of how the unit looks and how it works. We just need to hook everything up real quick. Now, the units designed to come already paired, so you shouldn't have to worry about that. You can see there that it just has a really nice display to it, very easy to see, very easy to read. Then you're going to have all of the buttons on it. This is a cam button, it allows you to switch from single to double viewing so it's a really nice design. If you have two cameras you can view each camera at the same time, if you just have one camera you can view it right there. If you hear a little bit of a echo, that's the mic and the speaker picking me up. That's a nice design as well. You're going to have your menu button, it allows you to go through contrast, brightness, all that stuff. You're going to have the power button, you're going to have your arrows over here that allow you to thumb through all the options. One of the neat things I want to show you, if we go to the menu you can actually rotate the display. You can see how that rotates the image. Then you can turn on and off those grid-lines as well, go to menu, go to settings, and then you can turn your grid-lines on and off. You have night and day option there. Just overall really nice design, very easy to use, nice display. THat's going to do it for today's look at the rear view safety wireless backup camera system with a duel screen monitor.

Rear View Safety Wireless Backup Camera System - Dual Screen Monitor - RVS-2CAM

Average Customer Rating:  3.8 out of 5 stars   (5 Customer Reviews)

The backup camera is working good after a year on my RV. I’ve got 2 cameras on the back of the 5th wheel, one point to the traffic behind and the other at the cargo rack on the bumper. It’s piece of mind going down the road and Im able to check on cars behind me before switching lanes. My first monitor only last 18 months and I had a lot of black outs this one seems to be much better. I would buy it again.

Although RVS advertises a range of 100 feet, I found the usable range to be considerably shorter, even using the optional ancillary antennas. The picture quality is average, and for the price I expected it to be better. Also, the wiring was a challenge and I had to send the system back to RVS to have them diagnose the problem and provide the correct wiring instructions. Finally, the windshield suction mount is totally inadequate. The cup will stick to the window for a time, but in cooler weather or other circumstances the entire mount and camera falls off of the windshield, creating a significant distraction to driving. All in all, I wish I had not purchased this product. As it turns out, due to the issues I've had I really never use it.

I confirmed with RVS that the advertised range for this camera is 70ft. Additionally, transmitting the picture at that distance and through the metal of a trailer can have an impact on the video quality.

Received order quickly. Bench tested system and it looks great. Will install shortly on travel trailer. Looks like you need to use hard wire power on monitor for audio to work. Blue wire probably to power source when in reverse. Directions do not discuss.

I purchased this camera system about one year ago to put on my 20 foot enclosed car trailer. Installation was very easy and picture quality has been exceptional. Great product, great service, would buy again if the need arises.

Review from a similar RVS Wireless Backup Camera in RV Camera System

The RVS-4CAM works very well and was easy to install both the camera and monitor. The only negative thing I noticed was that because the system is wireless there is sometimes signal loss at highway speeds which can be somewhat annoying. The product quality was outstanding compared to a cheaper no name brand that I had tried earlier for a different vendor. I highly recommend both the camera system and etrailer.

Camera system is still working very well.

For a great backup camera system to use when towing your 2017 Winnebago Micro Minnie, I recommend the Rear View Safety Wireless Backup Camera System # RVS-2CAM. The Rear View Safety Wireless Backup Camera System part # RVS-2CAM is a great backup camera system for a 2020 Winnebago Micro Minnie but I really like the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Backup Camera System part # FOS07TASF. The Vision S allows you to add more cameras (up to three), has a much longer range, and has a much nicer mounting bracket. • Best Place To Mount Backup Camera on Fifth Wheel RV
When mounting a wireless backup camera, it is best to mount it as far over on the driver's side as possible. Because the wireless signal has to travel through the camper and the truck, mounting it on the driver's side works to provide the signal with a clearer path to the receiver in the cab of the truck.
