Note: The slide topper you receive may or may not be from the Solera 5000 Series. A minor redesign has changed the shape of the extension bar, awning heads, and brackets. There is no difference in how it functions or installs.
How to Measure for an RV Slide-Out Awning
To ensure you get the correct size awning for your slide-out, measure from outer edge to outer edge of the trim. You will need 7" of clearance on both sides of the slide-out for the awning. If you dont have 7" clearance on both sides, go down to the next size; this will still give your slide-out plenty of coverage.
If there are two slide-outs next to each other, you will need a total of 14" of clearance between them for them both to have a slide-out awning. Again, you can go down a size if you are low on space.
Protect Your RV Slide-Out
Without a slide-topper, the roof of your slide-out room is continually exposed and can accumulate leaves and bugs and different types of debris. That debris can build up along the rubber strip at the top of your box, preventing a firm seal when your slide-out is retracted. Rain water can then get in and pool on the top of your slide-out. If you don't clear the water off each time it rains, mold can begin to form. And when your slide-out is pulled in, that mold gets inside your RV.
The Solera RV slide-out awning alleviates those problems by serving as a protective covering over the top of your RV's slide-out. Not only does it prevent debris from collecting on the roof of your slide-out, but it keeps water from pooling and potentially causing damage down the road. Because it mounts directly to the front of the slide box, the slide-out awning is able to automatically extend and retract every time the slide-out room is extended or retracted.
Durable Vinyl Fabric
The durable awning fabric holds up to the rigors of the outdoors. It's made of premium 13.5-oz vinyl, which is an upgrade over the 10-oz fabric used in many awnings. This fabric also features heat-welded seams to prevent leaks. And it is made to withstand cold temperatures down to -25 degrees Fahrenheit, so it won't crack or degrade during the winter.
Simple Installation
Use the self-tapping screws to secure the included access plate to the side of your slide-out, positioning the plate at the bottom of the T-molding. The two access brackets slide easily onto the access plate's track. The rods that are located at each end of the roller tube, which comes with the awning fabric already mounted, slide through the hole in the two access brackets.
The included awning rail is used to anchor the other side of the fabric to your RV. This rail can be mounted up to 5" above the trim on top of your slide box.

I bought 5 of these for my fifth wheel, of various lengths. Very easy to install, by myself. The only downside is the white gets moldy very fast, the black would hide it better.

Product was very good. Slight blemish due to shipping wear. I would suggest adding to the videos that you should open both ends of the channel slightly. During the installation we went about 2 inches beyond the end of the channel with the fabric and had a tough time getting it back in the channel. Overall, very satisfied with the product and the videos for training and installation help.

Use caution ordering this product from etrailer. They used a shipping company called Tforce freight, tforce is run by a bunch of clowns! After the 3rd scheduled delivery appointment from tforce i simply gave up on them. I called etrailer for a refund. I was told they would get back to me after following up with the shipper. 5 days later after no response from tforce or etrailer the awning gets delivered, the cardboard delivery tube looks like its been stabbed with the forklift and tossed off an airplane. I have no idea how the awning survived. Bottom line, i would not order this again from etrailer if they use tforce freight shipping.

Awning works mostly as it should,however took me over 3 months to get all the peices. I was shuffled around and forgot about by etrailer's people for almost 3 months, by the time I got the awning I had completed my 2 week vacations for the year. I would never buy anything from them again. It was the worst online buying expeirience I have ever had

The awning sags when it rains I have to stick something under it to keep it draining. But whats more frustrating is that no one ever apologized for the poor customer experience or checked back with me after the review. This tells me they really dont care about customer service

It sounds like you are talking about the frame of your slide-out when you mentioned flange. As you can see in the video at about the 1:32 mark, the measurement above the slide-out frame is about 2-inches so the cover slopes when installed.
