Note: The slide topper you receive may or may not be from the Solera 5000 Series. A minor redesign has changed the shape of the extension bar, awning heads, and brackets. There is no difference in how it functions or installs.
To ensure you get the correct size awning for your slide-out, measure from outer edge to outer edge of the trim. You will need 7" of clearance on both sides of the slide-out for the awning. If you dont have 7" clearance on both sides, go down to the next size; this will still give your slide-out plenty of coverage.
If there are two slide-outs next to each other, you will need a total of 14" of clearance between them for them both to have a slide-out awning. Again, you can go down a size if you are low on space.
Without a slide-topper, the roof of your slide-out room is continually exposed and can accumulate leaves and bugs and different types of debris. That debris can build up along the rubber strip at the top of your box, preventing a firm seal when your slide-out is retracted. Rain water can then get in and pool on the top of your slide-out. If you don't clear the water off each time it rains, mold can begin to form. And when your slide-out is pulled in, that mold gets inside your RV.
The Solera RV slide-out awning alleviates those problems by serving as a protective covering over the top of your RV's slide-out. Not only does it prevent debris from collecting on the roof of your slide-out, but it keeps water from pooling and potentially causing damage down the road. Because it mounts directly to the front of the slide box, the slide-out awning is able to automatically extend and retract every time the slide-out room is extended or retracted.
The durable awning fabric holds up to the rigors of the outdoors. It's made of premium 13.5-oz vinyl, which is an upgrade over the 10-oz fabric used in many awnings. This fabric also features heat-welded seams to prevent leaks. And it is made to withstand cold temperatures down to -25 degrees Fahrenheit, so it won't crack or degrade during the winter.
Use the self-tapping screws to secure the included access plate to the side of your slide-out, positioning the plate at the bottom of the T-molding. The two access brackets slide easily onto the access plate's track. The rods that are located at each end of the roller tube, which comes with the awning fabric already mounted, slide through the hole in the two access brackets.
The included awning rail is used to anchor the other side of the fabric to your RV. This rail can be mounted up to 5" above the trim on top of your slide box.

I bought 5 of these for my fifth wheel, of various lengths. Very easy to install, by myself. The only downside is the white gets moldy very fast, the black would hide it better.
Not happy that I didn’t get the solara 5000 that I ordered. I got a left over older model that I could have gotten much cheaper from Amazon. I ordered from you so that I could get the latest style with the nicer looking ends. I will stick to ordering from Amazon next time. Added photo of what I ordered and what I received.
Ed W gave an excellent service to customer and had me a great confidence on etrailer. I was very happy to see his highly professional handling of somewhat complicated process in that once I received a wrong parts and had to return it and ordering right parts all in once while I was contacted him as third rep. at etrailer. Ed was very efficient and thoughral in completing all these transactions. I attached two photos, first installation with wrong parts and 2nd installation with right parts.
They work as advertised keeping debris off the top of the slides. On our 2020 Jayco Talon, the hexagonal mounting bars are barely long enough and are locked with only one of the two set-screws. They seem secure now but I don't know if the bars may sag/bend over time because of the length they extend from the bracket.

The awnings are still good and the barsbrackets still holding. I know now why the black ones were sold out as the white ones show a lot of staining.

The awning works great. It resolved a water issue and keeps the top of the slide clean of pine needles, leaves and debris. In the future we are considering putting an awning over the second slide. The only thing I wish I did was watch a video on the exact item being installed. This company and this product can be counted on. Thanks.
Awning works wonderful, doesn't flap in the wind keeps rain sound quieter over the bedroom slide which was our goal.
My slide out is 72" wide (including flange). The awning is also 72" wide so it extends 3" on each side beyond the slide out (excluding the flange). The assembly is 81" wide and therefore extends 4 1/2" on each side beyond the flanges. This is true if you exactly center the assembly which is not necessarily required. Check to be sure you have enough room on each side that may clash with other awnings.
The product looks good to me. I saw a neighbor at the RV Park with three of them so I bought one to give it a try. I was able to install it myself (but this is the short version). Followed the directions in the video on the etrailer site. Ignored the written instructions.
I'm pleased and will buy at least one more and two if I can see if the third one will fit.
Was fairly easy to install (took about 3 hours) and worked great for 7 months. Good quality materials and seems well made.
Unfortunately, my last trip it jammed when extending the slide and managed to rip the awning rail completely off before I realized what was happening. I travel alone or with elderly parents that can't get around very well, so I usually don't have a spotter that could have told me something was wrong. I mention this in my review only as a caution to others to just be careful and aware that it could happen.
I'm sure it was an isolated incident but just in case this saves someone else the pain of having to figure out how to put one back on with all the holes stripped I wanted to mention it.
We installed 3 covers on our 5th wheel. Install went well after watching a video and they work great. Keeps leaves and such off the slide tops and helps in hot weather to shade the tops.
Replaced an under-sized slide topper on a truck camper slide with this product. Followed the instructions and installed this within an hour. Product works great and is an attractive look!
Looks good, took about 4 hours to install, could of done quicker, was missing the 4 set screws, but not a big deal (hardware store)
