Programmable Power Awning
![Solera Smart Arm Programmable Awning]()
The Solera Smart Arm 12V awning is the first ever programmable awning for your trailer or RV. You can easily extend or retract the awning with the push of a button. The weatherproof touchpad mounts directly on the base of the right awning arm for easy access. In other words, you no longer have to climb back into your RV to operate your awning.
Intelligent Smart Arm Functionality
Weatherproof Touchpad
![Smart Arm Weatherproof Touchpad Controller]()
The programmable touchpad, which is located at the base of the drive-side awning arm, offers a unique set of features. The extend and retract buttons let you operate the awning from outside your RV. The touchpad enables you to activate and program this unit's optional add-on features as well. And a 1-touch safety lock button ensures that the awning's settings stay the way you want them.
Add-On Features
![Smart Arm Wind Sensor Upgrade]()
The Wind Sensor upgrade (LC715123 - sold separately) offers protection for the Smart Arm awning in poor weather conditions. If extreme wind is detected, the awning will automatically retract, giving you piece of mind if you're away from your campsite when bad weather hits. The touchpad enables you to toggle between 3 different levels of wind sensitivity, or you can deactivate the wind sensor altogether. Just mount the sensor below the drive head on the awning arm, and plug the wiring harness directly into the Smart Arm touchpad.
![Smart Arm Awning Lights Illuminated]()
The fabric of this awning has an integrated light track sewn into the hem that allows you to install Solera's LED light kit (LC674282 - sold separately). The light kit slides over the built-in track by the coach sidewall, under the awning. Using the touchpad, you can light up your campground whether the awning is retracted or extended. Its 3-Stage Lighting feature provides multiple lighting options. Depending on the mood you're trying to set for your campsite, you can illuminate the lights at the low (20%), medium (45%), or high (100%) setting.
The awning lights also feature a convenient low voltage alert system. If the voltage in the Smart Arm controller falls below 10.5V while the awning lights are in use, the lights will start flashing. Fortunately, if you're running low on power, or if you have a power outage, a manual override allows you to extend and retract the awning using a power drill (not included) with a 7/16" socket.
![Smart Arm Infrared Security Sensor Upgrade]()
The Infrared Security Sensor (LC715124 - sold separately) provides an extra level of security while you're camping. If the sensor detects any heat or motion, the awning lights (sold separately) will turn on automatically. The sensor range is approximately 8', with a 180-degree radius from its mounting location. The security sensor can be armed with the press of a button on the touchpad. Installation is simple. Just snap the unit into place on the bottom of the drive-side awning arm, just beneath the touchpad.
Durable Vinyl Fabric
![White Fade Solera Awning Fabric]()
The durable awning fabric holds up to the rigors of the outdoors. It's made of premium 13.5-oz vinyl, which is an upgrade over the 10-oz fabric used in many awnings. In addition, this fabric features heat-welded seams to prevent leaks. The fabric is cold-crack protected to -25 degrees Fahrenheit, so it won't crack or degrade during cold weather.
Manual Angle Adjustment
![Solera Smart Arm awning manual pitch adjustment]()
The Solera Smart Arm awning offers manual pitch adjustment for each arm to keep you shaded from the sun all day long. This is a great feature on hot summer days. When the awning is initially extended, it will be parallel to the ground. This provides protection in the middle of the day, when the sun is high in the sky.
As the sun gets lower throughout the day, you can tilt the awning to one side to effectively block the sun. When you're ready to retract the awning, you can do so no matter what position the arms are in. There's no need to readjust the pitch to its original, parallel position before retracting.
Auto Rain Dump Feature
This awning also makes a great rain shield. Its automatic rain dump feature prevents too much water from building up in the canopy, so there's no need to manually adjust the pitch to release the excess water. When the arms sense that there is about 10 lbs of water pooled in the canopy, the dump feature will automatically activate. The awning arms will reposition to release the pooled water and then return to their original position. Just don't get caught walking by when it happens!
Installation
![Solera Smart Arm awning installation]()
An awning rail (LC715216 - sold separately), which is used to anchor the fabric of the awning to the RV, is required for installation. You will need a minimum clearance of 2-1/2" between the awning rail and the top of the entry door. You'll also need 69" of open space on the RV wall - from the awning rail straight down - so that the wall-mounted brackets for the awning arms can be installed.
The roller tube, which comes with the awning fabric already mounted, attaches to the awning arms. The other side of the fabric slides into the awning rail on the RV. Then use the included self-tapping screws to secure the arms to the wall-mounted bracket. The awning drive motor wires into the Smart Arm touchpad, which can either be connected to your battery or wired directly into your RV by way of a converter.
