This Furrion Chill AC system lets you replace an existing single zone setup or add a new setup if your RV or camper doesn't already have one. It includes all of the components necessary to adjust the temperature inside your RV.

Air Conditioner

Furrion

The air conditioner has two fans, each with their own motor, to help move cool air faster and more efficiently inside your RV on a hot and muggy day. It also has a built-in start capacitor that uses stored energy to give an extra boost of power to help jump-start your unit when a campsite or generator doesn't provide enough power. Integrated rubber dampeners on the compressor reduce vibration and allow your AC unit to run quietly.

Single Zone Controller

Furrion Single Zone Controller

The single zone controller has a convenient, built-in temperature sensor that communicates with the included single zone basic wall thermostat. It also features short-cycle protection so that your air conditioner won't cycle off prematurely, ensuring your RV reaches its temperature set-point.

Air Distribution Box

Furrion Air Distribution Box

The air distribution box accommodates ducted and ductless systems. It features 2 slotted registers to maximize airflow in your RV. The registers can be closed to divert more air to the ducts in a ducted system.

Single Zone Premium Wall Thermostat

Furrion Single Zone Premium Wall Thermostat

The single zone premium wall thermostat has 5 different operating modes and a sleep setting to ensure optimal comfort throughout your RV or camper.

Auto Mode: Allows the system to automatically change between cool mode and heat mode based on the room temperature. When the room temperature reaches 77 degrees F, the system will operate in cool mode. When the room temperature drops below 68 degrees F, the system will operate in heat mode (only when furnace is enabled).

Cool Mode: Cycles the compressor on and off based on the room temperature and the temperature set-point. When the compressor is running, the fan will be turned on to either low, medium, high, or auto. On auto fan, the fan speed varies depending on the difference between the temperature set-point and room temperature.

Fan Speed

Heat Mode (only when furnace is enabled): Cycles the compressor on and off based on the room temperature and the temperature set-point. When the compressor is running, the fan will be turned on to either low, medium, high, or auto. The fan speed selection only applies to the fan speed on the air conditioner and not the fan speed of the furnace.

Fan Mode: Operates continuously at low, medium, or high speed.

Dry Mode: Runs the compressor continuously when the room temperature is higher than the temperature set-point. When the room temperature is lower than the temperature set-point, the compressor cycles on for 10 minutes and off for 6 minutes to maintain your desired temperature. The fan speed runs continuously at low speed.

Sleep Setting: Automatically increases your temperature set-point 2 degrees every hour up to 2 hours. After 2 hours, the fan is set to low speed. This allows your unit to use less power overnight and reduces noise while you sleep.

I think the air conditioner seems to operate very well at this time.
I was surprised and not satisfied with the cooling temperature sensor being located within the return air plenum and not in the thermostat.
This seems to cause the air conditioner to short-cycle without using the air conditioners capacity to cool the room.
I would appreciate a response to this issue with a solution to fix it.

Comments
What we recommend is to take the black wire with the sensor on the end and tuck it up into the wire bundle which will shorten the lead on the sensor. This will help the sensor from getting too close to the cold air duct and picking up an inaccurate reading. It is also suggested to use metal duct tape to help further seal the seams between the ducts and the air return.

It took 2 replacement top covers to get one that was not broken but finally got one

by:

I just want to follow up with my order.

1.
The product is fantastic. It is quiet and cools super-fast. I am glad I
purchased this unit to replace a non-functioning Dometic unit.
2. The installation documentation needs to be better, especially for a
replacement install. The video is okay, but it shows it in a new install
with the walls and ceiling removed. The wiring comes in two sets (one for
replacement and the second set for a second new unit install) and wasn't
clear as to which set to use.. I also installed a new Furrion thermostat and
had to connect a furnace too. Thankfully I had a friend that installs AC
units and we figured it out. It worked great once we got it figured out.

3. The biggest disappointment involves the only negative reviews I read on
this unit. The package of this unit is not good. I am enclosing pictures of
the top case of the unit. All the connectors were snapped off except for the
four front ones (where there is extra cardboard packaging). We discovered
they were broken when taking it out of the box and before we moved the unto
to the rood as we wanted the cover off so it wouldn't get damaged. Too bad
it already was.

The Furrion air conditioner is great. The fact that it arrived without the bolts to connect it was a bit troubling. Also no instructions for installation. Fortunately I could download those from the Internet and with the help of a few [online videos] were able to get the air conditioner installed.

Could use better directions for installation, but overall it works well. Replaced an older ac unit on a 92' winnebago myself.

by:

Poorly designed unit, short cycles (compressor only runs for 30 seconds every 1-3 minutes), won't maintain a temperature without constantly rebooting it. Temperature does not read accurately and will drop as soon as the compressor turns on. It fails to maintain a setpoint. You have to tap into your 12v system causing a constant small draw when they should have an option to use a 120 to 12vdc transformer, these only cost a few dollars. Plenum is poorly designed causes a large flow restriction. Unit works better when you install the duct 90 degrees off or cut major holes into the plenum (white plastic duct). The instructions were usable but not great, they didn't explain what some of the items included were used for but included them in the contents inventory. Also some directions contradict other directions.

I was an HVAC tech for a long time, I'm very disappointed in the unit.

etrailer took a long time to ship and when it arrived it was far later than the original estimate, no option to expedite shipping. Packaging damaged but only cosmetic damage to the cover and I had already delayed my trip waiting for this to arrive.

by:

Good:
It blows cold air like crazy!

Comments
So, so. The unit, as delivered, is sub optimal in that the ceiling cover badly throttles the cool air flow. When you remove the cover, the air flow, and the effectiveness, increase DRAMATICALLY. Kind of wondering why they designed it the way they did.

by:

Does not cool well at all. Waste of mon ey.

by:

The first one was damaged on arrival, your staff promptly replaced it, it has been working flawlessly providing the comfort I desire

by:

This system poured condensate inside the trailer. No help from customer service other than asking the make and model of the trailer it was installed in. The thermostat also did not work to cycle the unit. Had to do A lot of in house up grades to get it to work such as a riser for the roof mount and a different type of thermostat. All this known before hand would not have made this purchase.

by:

The air conditioner works really well so far I haven’t been in any extreme heat yet. The unit fit well. But the wiring was difficult to figure out in my Thor 24F. When I open the box there was a crack in the shroud. I emailed Amy and they took care of it and sent me a new shroud. etrailer has been excellent company to deal with! I like the cheap prices but customer service is what gets my return business.

by:

I ordered the air conditioner Kit and ups damaged the cover. Called etrailer and replacement was sent right away at no cost to me . You guys are the best..

by:

The ac works great. Much quieter than the Dometic that it replaced. I would give it 5 stars but the thermostat does not function as adverised and the instructions were typical Chinese. I am an ac contractor, so I was able to figure out the gray areas, but a novice might have had trouble.

The thermostat is supposed to switch between fan speeds automatically so that as it nears setpoint, the fan throttles down from 3 to 2 to 1 with 1 being low speed fan. It will not do this. Fan stays on high. Display is very small and hard to see. Has a light button on it that also does not work.

I probly need to get a replacement. Just haven't had time to call in.

To knit pick, the temp sensor is actually in the return air of the unit, not the wall thermostat. This causes the setpoint to be several degrees off from the actual temp, however you get used to it.

All in all, a great ac unit. I would highly recommend it.

by:

I read customer reviews about poor packaging but I was not prepared for it to arrive in such unacceptable condition. etrailer is exchanging it , however , it is still a huge inconvenience. The process is underway.

by:

A/c works great. The air ducts however do not work very well. It promotes freezing of the coils. I had to buy a Colman adapter and Colman air duct system. My advice is buy the ac by itself and get the Coleman adaptor and duct system. I learned this lesson the expensive way

Comments
Im sorry to hear all the trouble youve had Jose. Weve had some issues with the ducting as well and have been working with Furrion to find a solution. Furrion now includes a gasket around the air feed to help keep the cold/hot air from leaking back into the air return. We have also been using metal duct tape to help further seal the seams between the ducts and the air return. Another tip to keep the system working smoothly is to shorten the lead on the thermostat sensor. With this unit, the sensor is part of the wire bundle up in the air return shaft, rather than located at the wall thermostat. Before installing the ducting, the black wire with the sensor on the end can be tucked back up into the wire bundle, shortening the lead on the sensor. This will help the sensor from getting too close to the cold air duct and picking up an inaccurate reading. Weve found the gasket, metal duct tape, and shortening the sensor lead have helped solve issues like those you described.

Recieved package and immediately noticed that the box was pretty beaten up. Opened the box finding product damaged. Contacted sales, replacement shipped and returning damaged one was easy. New one was installed easily and in great condition. Only suggestion is the packaging needs to be improved. Great customer service.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

I purchased a Furrion AC unit for my cargo trailer so I could camp at Sturgis this year. The unit arrived on time and it sat in my garage for over three months. When I finally got around to opening it about a week before Sturgis I discovered the cowling was broken. Much to my surprise when I called etrailer and sent photos they promptly sent me another cover which arrived in just four days! Etrailer was fantastic. I was really worried that 1) I was out few hundred for another cowling and 2) I would not get the part in time. They covered the broken cover and got me the part quickly. In these times when everybody has horror stories about customer service Etrailer excelled. Thank you Etrailer

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

Ac cooling works super well - Quieter than the stock colman unit, but that does not mean its very quiet, the 14x14” roof top opening limitation just does not allow for quiet cooling :( and that is no fault of this unit. Issues: The all metal mounting plate was great in dry AZ but in Florida humidity has been a real problem, with our very poorly insulated racetrack ducting (thanks for the absolute crap work Thor!!!!) cooling the Al frame around the 14x14” hole way too much causing the metal to sweat (condense water) right onto our bed - solution is to use 1/8” neoprene stick on insulation (see black in picture) all over every bit of exposed metal to stop the condensation since i can’t fix the racetrack without destroying the roof or ceiling - we used 1” foam (purple in picture) on the frame of the 14x14” opening and 1/8” neoprene on the supplied metal frame (plenum) - in hindsight i would use the neoprene everywhere. Second & third issue are short cycling and falsely thinking room is cold - these are due to poor Furrion design choices!!! This we found was due to the air temp sensor being designed into the ceiling unit vs in the wall mount thermostat, its quick to register temperature changes and our race track (as i think all are) does not have a set of one way flaps, so the other ac unit’s cold air makes its way backwards through this units air out port into this units air intake and thus makes that area very cold when this unit is off while the other unit is on, which in turn prevents this unit from engaging! (An issue only because both my units are sharing the RV’s racetrack air ducting system) However because this unit is in a tiny bedroom area the temp sensor cools itself too quickly (again, Its in the air intake port) this is odd as we don't use the dump ports, they are custom blocked off to force 100% of the cold air to the race track away from the unit, regardless the intake air gets cold in 45 seconds and shuts the compressor off way too soon so short cycles the unit (less than a minute on time!!!!) I seem to have fixed this by insulating the very short wire of the thermistor and pushing the thermistor tip through one layer of the decorative cover (you have to drill a hole, keep the hole very small and ideally insulate it) - this forces it to be in the dump ports output stream “space”, which in my race track only install means its room temp as the feed to the dump port is TOTALLY sealed off so is the best representatives of room temp up by the unit (even better than when i had the thermistor go all the way through the decorative cover into the room) All in all the unit is good and the issues are mostly due to Thor’s crap race track insulation (or lack of) but having the thermostat have its own temp sensor would be much better to avoid short cycling (wish i could convert to do so while keeping the nice thermostat look and a 1 degree tolerance). Finally the units outside cover was broken in shipping (as i was expecting from reading other reviews) but etrailer made that right no grief what so ever. Definitely etrailer keeps impressing, follow service up is proactive and great! Wish someone made a unit that was dc inverter based to have no inrush issues - i have soft starts but that is still far from the goodness of a minsplit like inverter based dc compressor that gets a true soft start and variable speed power savings!

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

Do not buy these for use on a race trailer or cargo trailer. They do not tell you that you need 3 inches of roof thickness when you are buying it. After you install it you learn the hard way like i did that it freezes up, supposedly because i only have 2 inches of roof thickness. Zero help from Furion or etrailer. The tech department told me i should have read the installation instructions before i bought the unit. I have almost $2600 in 2 air conditioners that do not work properly.

Comments
We do have it listed on the product page that this AC unit fits with roofs that are 3.5 inches to 6 inches thick.

If you want to keep your existing distribution box and thermostat the Furrion does have adapters to just replace the roof top unit and keep your existing hardware inside. If you choose that route then reply back with your current set up and i can find the...

If you watch the attached video you'll see based on our testing that Furrion is the overall better air conditioner. Furrion does make roof top units that come with adapter cables for certain other branded systems so if you want to keep your current thermostat and air distribution box let me know what brand system you have and I can find the correct unit. If you want to replace the whole system then I recommend the Furrion Chill Premium RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,500...
