Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Dometic Penguin 2 13,500 BTU Multi-Zone Black RV Air Conditioner with Heat Strip. Now this air conditioner unit is going to let you replace, upgrade, or add a new Dometic Penguin 2 Air Conditioner to your RV or camper. As you notice, this does feature an ultra low profile design that's going to help minimize wind resistance to improve fuel efficiency and give you additional overhead clearance. Now this 13,500 BTU air conditioner is going to quickly and efficiently cool down the inside of your RV or camper.
And this is going to be compatible with ducted or ductless systems. And this is designed specifically for motor homes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels. But I do wanna point out that this has not been approved for use on school buses, food trucks, enclosed utility trailers, or off-roading vehicles. Because typically, though those types of roofs are not built with the support needed to hold an air conditioner system on top of that roof, or there could be too much flex in that roof where it could potentially damage an air conditioner system on top. So I do wanna make you aware that this unit is not approved for those type of vehicles or trailers.
This is going to be a bolt-on installation. However, the hardware is not included with this. That's something you would have to provide separately. And this also requires a CCCII thermostat and an air distribution box. And on your screen I am including the part number for that thermostat that will work with this air conditioner.
And then if you check the related product section on this product page, you can take a look at the air distribution box that would work best for your particular application. Now this is going to fit roofs from one and a half inches thick to six inches thick, with an opening size of 14 and a quarter inches long and 14 and a quarter inches wide. And let me go ahead and give you some measurements here. So looking at the length, measuring from end to end, we're sitting right at about 40 and a half inches long. And then looking at the width, again, from end to end, we're sitting at about 29 inches wide.
And then the overall height, about 11 and a quarter inches tall. This air conditioner weighs in between nine five and 100 pounds, just to give you an idea of the weight of the unit. And I went ahead and removed the screws that secure this cover to our air conditioner unit, just so I can more quickly and easily remove the cover. So let me go ahead and pop this cover off to give you of a view of the inside. I'm gonna set my cover off to the side here real quick. And then let me go ahead and just give this another quick turn here, just so you can see what this looks like on the inside from that angle. So this air conditioner does feature a high performance motor and fan that's going to give you sufficient airflow. The enhanced cooling performance is going to evenly distribute cool air throughout your RV to help eliminate hotspots. And this does feature an internal electric heat strip. You won't be able to see it here, but it is how it is installed inside. So that heat strip is going to do a great job of removing the chill on cold, frosty mornings. Let me give you an overhead look as well. The quiet operation is going to ensure a more peaceful atmosphere than most traditional air conditioner systems. And the efficient design requires less refrigerant than traditional air conditioner units. So that's gonna help reduce operational costs. This does use the refrigerant R-410A. As you can see here, we do have these foam seals that are gonna help prevent heat transfer. And let me go ahead and go back to a wide view here. I'm gonna go ahead and replace the cover. This cover, by the way, is a hard plastic cover. So I think this is going to do a great job of protecting the inside of this unit from water and debris. Other air conditioner systems that I've dealt with in the past, some of them can kind of have a flimsy, thin cover. This doesn't feel that way at all. It feels pretty rugged, pretty durable. So I think it's gonna hold up really well for you. As you saw, this is gonna be very easy to remove and replace. There's four Phillips head screws, as you can see right here. So if you ever need to do some cleaning or maintenance, you'll just take those screws out, pop the cover off, and then when you're done, the cover goes right back on very easily. And just secure those screws. Now let me go ahead and give you another lower angle view here real quick. The panel here is, or the pan rather here, is a ribbed base pan. It is metal. So this is gonna provide stability and reduce vibration. Underneath here, you can see a section right here. We've got these thick foam pads that we're gonna sit in between the air conditioner and your roof. So that's gonna provide added installation and stability. I wanted to give you a good view of the wiring harness here that's gonna be included. This harness is going to be stuffed up underneath the front of the air conditioner, so you will have to pull this out. But this is gonna be the connections. I think I have most of them out here, just to kind of give you an idea of what to expect. This air conditioner is UL certified. And I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
