Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Dometic Penguin II 13,500 Btu multi-zone white RV air conditioner with heat strip. Now, this air conditioner unit is going to let you replace, upgrade, or add a new Dometic Penguin II air conditioner to your RV or camper. This ultra-low profile design is going to help minimize wind resistance to help improve fuel efficiency and overhead clearance. This 13,500 Btu per hour air conditioner is going to quickly and efficiently cool the inside of your RV or camper, and this is going to be compatible with your ducted or ductless systems.

This is designed for motor homes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels. But I do wanna point out that this has not been approved for use on school buses, food trucks, enclosed utility trailers, or off-roading vehicles because typically the roofs on those types of vehicles do not have the support needed to handle the weight of an air conditioner system or the roofs could flex, potentially damaging any air conditioner system that you would have on that roof. So I just wanted you to be aware of that. This is going to be a bolt-on installation. However, the hardware is not going to be included with this unit.

That's something you would have to pick up separately. And this does require a CCCII thermostat and an air distribution box. Those items are sold separately. On your screen, I am including the model number of the thermostat that you would need for this if you do not already have it. And then under the related parts section or the related product section on this product page, we do have some options there for air distribution boxes depending on your particular application.

So this is going to fit roofs from 1 1/2 inches to 6 inches thick, with an opening size of 14 1/4 inches long by 14 1/4 inches wide. Let me go over some measurements with you. Looking at the overall length from end to end, we're sitting at about 40 1/2 inches long, and looking at the width, again from end to end, about 29 inches wide and the height, about 11 1/4 inches tall. Now, this does weigh in between 95 and 100 pounds, just to kind of give you an idea of the weight of the unit. And I went ahead and removed the Phillips head screws that secure this cover in place before our time together, so I could go ahead and easily and quickly remove this so I could give you a view of the inside.

So let me set my cover down here and then you can see what it looks like from that angle. Let me just give this a quick turn here just so you can get a good view of the inside from that angle. So this air conditioner does feature a high performance motor and fan that's going to give you sufficient air flow. The enhanced cooling performance is going to evenly distribute cool air throughout your RV or camper. Let me go ahead and give you another view. I'm gonna give you an overhead view there. So the enhanced cooling performance is going to evenly distribute cool air throughout your RV to help eliminate hot spots. And then this does feature, you're not gonna be able to see it here unfortunately, but it does have an internal electric heat strip built in that's going to remove the chill on cold or frosty mornings. So that is included with this unit, and the quiet operation that this unit provides is going to ensure a more peaceful atmosphere than your traditional air conditioning units. This has an efficient design that's going to require less refrigerant than traditional air conditioning units, so it's gonna help reduce operational costs. This does use the refrigerant R410a. If you notice here, we do have these foam seals here that are gonna help prevent heat transfer. So let me go ahead and replace my cover here. And as you saw, we do have this in white and this is (thudding) a hard plastic cover, so I think it's gonna do a pretty good job of protecting the inside of this unit from water and debris. I think it's gonna hold up pretty well for you. It doesn't feel flimsy or thin or like it could easily crack on you or fracture or anything like that, so I think it's gonna hold up real well. This is gonna be very easy to remove and replace, as I mentioned, four Phillips head screws. Let me go for a lower angle here. I'm gonna give you a view of the one of the screws there. So if you ever need to do any cleaning or maintenance, just remove the screws, remove the cover, do what you need to do on the inside, and then that cover's just going to pop right back on, as you see, and replace the screws and you can go on down the road. Now, this does feature a ribbed base pan. The pan is metal. It's going to provide stability and help reduce vibration. We do have pads under here, foam-like pads underneath here that are gonna go in between the air conditioner and the roof of your RV. And I wanted to give you a good view of a wiring harness here. When you get this unit, this wiring is going to be tucked up inside of the bottom of the front here, so you will have to pull all of these wires out. But this is going to be the wiring harness that's included with this particular air conditioning unit. Again, this is a multi-zone air conditioner with a heat strip, and this is UL certified. And we do have other options in regards to air conditioners, whether it's other Dometic options or other brands here.
