The first part of this review is for etrailer. Fantastic customer service as usual. The unit was back ordered when i placed my order and they kept me updated the whole time, and it actually arrived earlier than expected. Unfortunately I received the unit with a fan blade that was damaged during shipping. They sent me another unit immediately to resolve the issue. More companies need to be like etrailer.

As for the unit itself; I’m very impressed. I installed this on my high roof sprinter to replace the existing 12 volt unit since I needed something stronger. Install couldn’t be easier. It’s not terribly heavy, I carried it up the ladder by myself.

The soft start makes it possible to run off my 12v battery bank and 4000watt inverter with no issues. The 12v unit i replaced would take about an hour to get the whole van down to temperature, the advent unit takes maybe 5 minutes to cool the whole van off.

An absolute game changer for me. Very quiet inside, outside is a bit louder than the 12v unit but quieter than many 115v rv units I’ve seen.

I ordered 2 of these at 3pm Monday and they were picked boxed and shipped by 530pm the same day. If it wasn't for local ups letting one sit for 2 days and sending the other one to michigan and back I would've had them within 2 days. Very impressed with etrailer and will definitely be a repeat custom.

Bought this unit to replace the original unit on my '78 American Clipper. It took more time to remove the old unit and clean the roof, than it did to install this new one. Installation was quite simple. Follow the instruction sheet and before you know it, you are done. Won't know about how it performs until I have a chance to run it a few times.

Unit will not keep an 8x10 concession trailer cool. The unit cycles on and off continuously even though the temperature is not to desired setting. Definitely will not recommend.

by:

Unit arrived quickly, but I didn’t install it until this week.Did have an issue with the blower plenum leaving a gap with my 5” roof? Also after turning the unit on I could tell something was binding the condenser fan. Turned out both fans were rubbing, I gave the motor bracket a shove back and all started running properly. Unit is louder than I expected and on low setting the fan blows quite hard, and there isn’t much change between low and high, not sure that is correct.i read a lot of reviews that talked about shipping damage but my unit had no damage so not sure why / how the motor bracket was out of alignment.

by:

The A/C system was processed and shipped the same late afternoon it was ordered. It fit well where the older unit had been on the roof of the RV. Was able to install it myself with the help of a friend. The instructions were easy to follow and understand, was even able to use the old wire nuts to connect the power box. Other than normal tools the only special tool needed was a torque wrench to make sure the rooftop unit was securely tightened for a good seal but not overtightened to damage the gasket. Runs quietly and keeps our small motorhome cool enough that on low cool it is comfortable.

Stayin cool in the summer is always important so I'm glad this AC is doing the trick for you, Gerald!

This is a great unit. Installation was almost seamless with exception of one thing. One of the four hold down bolts at the corners was a big problem. I started the bolt by hand for a few threads then went to my drill driver. After a few rounds the bolt seized up and I could not get it backed out. The threaded insert the bolt screws into started turning. I ended up having to cut the bolt off to finish the install. I cut off over an inch of bolt. I need to know how to remedy this. Other than the bolt I really like the unit. The unit performs very well. Couldn’t be happier with 98% of it. I will be installing an identical unit later this week and will check each hold down before taking it to the roof. I need to fix it correctly as I am an RV Tech. Tell me how.

After having this unit a year i will say it works but it’s definitely not the best. Even though the filters are always kept clean and the thermostat isn’t set super cold it still freezes up and the other day it completely stopped working for about an hour then it came right back on when trying to restart it

Fonctionne bien, facile à installer

  • Why Can't you Use an Advent A/C on a Utility Trailer, and what Air Conditioner Can you Use?
Hello Doug. Advent does not recommend installing their A/C units on utility trailers, school buses, food trucks, or off-roading vehicles due to the roof not having enough support. You could always install the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System w/ Start Capacitor - 13,500 Btu - White # ASA69YR on your utility trailer just as long as the roof is 2-1/2" to 5" thick, and framed up to support the weight of the A/C which is a little less than 80lbs. However, ASA/Advent will void...

  • Recommended Complete AC System for a RV Remodel
Hey Ryan! For a complete AC system, I recommend the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System w/ Start Capacitor item # ASA69YR in white or item # ASA96YR in black. These 13,500 BTU systems come with a AC unit, start capacitor, and an air distribution box with a built-in thermostat to control the fan and temperature. It also includes a wiring harness and mounting hardware to help you get it installed in your RV.

  • Replacement AC Recommendation for 13.5K Btu Unit on a Small Camper
Hey Darrell, I recommend replacing your AC unit with the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System w/ Start Capacitor # ASA69YR. This is their newer low-profile design and it comes with a start capacitor so it doesn't require as much power to start up as a standard unit so you'll be getting an upgrade with your replacement.

  • Can a Wall Thermostat be Added to the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System
Hey Bob, thanks for reaching out! You can change the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System w/ Start Capacitor # ASA69YR to work with a wall thermostat by getting the Air Distribution Box w/ Wall-Mounted Thermostat - R32 - # ADV98SR. You'll replace the distribution and AC control with the distribution box that comes in this kit, and then you'll need to wire in the thermostat. Do you plan on doing this on your own, or having a tech install it for you?

  • Is The Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System # ASA69YR A Complete AC System
Hey Jake, The Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System w/ Start Capacitor # ASA69YR you were looking at would be considered a complete system. This has the controls in the air distribution box, which would be mounted to the ceiling. There's also options available with a wall mounted thermostat like the Furrion # FR95PV. What is the year/make/full model of the trailer? I can look up the square footage and see if the 13,500btu rated unit would be enough for the space or if you'd...

  • Can Advent AC Unit Be Installed On Dump Truck Or Bulldozer?
Interesting Question, Bill. These AC units are intended for RVs or campers, but if you were to install one on a dump truck or bulldozer you would need to use a complete AC system like the Advent # ASA69YR. This comes with a 13.5K BTU AC unit, distribution box, controller and start capacitor. Everything you need to add a whole new AC system. These AC units run off 110V so you will need to find a way to get power to the unit. Also, these units require a roof thickness of 2-1/2" to 5" thick...
