Video Transcript for Review of ASA Electronics RV Air Conditioners - Advent Air White Low Profile Carrier - ASA38YR

Hi, everybody, Andy here with Let's take a look together at this Advent Air White Low-Profile 15,000 BTU RV Air Conditioner for your carrier setup. Now, this low-profile air conditioner unit is going to let you replace your carrier rooftop air conditioner with a low-profile air conditioner on the roof of your RV or camper. And this included wiring adapter is going to enable this air conditioner to work with your existing carrier setup. It's gonna be virtually a plug-and-play operation. And as you know, the low-profile design of this air conditioner is going to minimize wind resistance to help improve your fuel efficiency and also provide additional overhead clearance for you.

This 15,000 BTU per hour air conditioner is going to be able to quickly and efficiently cool down the inside of your RV or camper. This is going to be compatible with ducted or ductless systems. And this is going to be a bolt-on installation with the included mounting hardware that you see here. Now, this is going to be great for your motor homes, your travel trailers, and your fifth wheels. However, I do wanna point out that this is not approved for use on school buses, food trucks, enclosed utility trailers, or off-roading vehicles.

Just so you're aware of that. This is going to fit roofs from 2 1/2 inches to five inches thick with an opening size of 14 1/4 inches long by 14 1/4 inches wide. And just to go over some measurements with you of the unit itself, just so you have a good idea of the size. Looking at the overall length from back to front, we're sitting at about 31 inches long. The overall height from top to bottom, we're sitting at about 10 1/8 inches tall.

And then the overall width, we're sitting right at about 24 15/16 inches wide. This air conditioner unit weighs a little under 70 pounds, and I would like to go ahead and take the cover off here real quick just to give you a view of the inside. So I went ahead and loosened and removed the screws before our time together just so it'll be a little bit easier and quicker to remove the cover. So you have a view, a little bit of the inside there from that angle. But I wanna give you a better view overhead.

So this air conditioner does feature a fan blade with a three-speed motor that's going to give you ample air flow at 500 cubic feet per minute. And this also features a condensation dispersion system, which is going to increase the cooling efficiency by managing moisture to prevent water runoff. Hopefully, you got a good look on the inside there. I'm gonna go ahead and replace our cover. And while I do that, I just wanted to point out that this cover (cover thudding) is a really good piece of plastic. It's a pretty thick piece of plastic. Some other RV air conditioners that I have dealt with in the past, other brands, some of them kind of have a thinner cover that doesn't feel real durable and doesn't feel like it would take a good impact if something would, for chance, drop on it, drop on it on top of it. But that's not the case with this. This Advent Air construct, really strong, durable cover. So this is a pretty good thick piece of plastic that I think is gonna do a great job of protecting those internal components from water and debris. And as you saw, this is gonna be very easy to remove, very easy to replace. So if you need to do a little bit of maintenance or maybe do a little bit of cleaning inside, all you gotta do is remove the screws that secure the cover around the perimeter with the Phillips head screwdriver. Lift this off, and then when you're done, pop the cover back on in place. It has a nice snug fit, and replace those screws, and you will be good to go. I did want to give you just a little bit of a closer view here and point out that this does have a rigid metal frame. And then hopefully, you'll be able to see just a little bit here. Underneath, we do have thick foam support pads that's going to give you quite a bit of support between the roof of your RV and air conditioner. And then a gasket is going to seal the opening to prevent water seepage and air leaks. And those foam pads at the bottom, at the base of our unit here, is going to do a great job of reducing noise after you have this installed. So I wanted to give you a closeup of the wiring kit that's going to plug right into your carrier setup. So that's a good look at that kit there. And then I also wanted to talk about our capacitor here. This stark capacitor, as you probably know, is going to jumpstart this air conditioner when the campsite that you're at or maybe the generator that you're using doesn't give you just enough power to start your air conditioner. And then this capacitor is going to store energy that will later be used for your next startup. And then this is gonna be a very simple install, with the included hardware right into the air conditioner unit. And then it's just going to plug into place there inside of your unit. This is cUL and UL-certified. And we do also offer this air conditioner with a black cover. And so if the white cover isn't gonna go with your current setup, we do have a black cover option available. And also if a 15,000 BTU rate, that 15,000 BTU rating is a little bit higher than what you're looking for, we do also offer these air conditioner units at 13,500 BTU. So we do have those options available too if this isn't necessarily what you're looking for, but those alternative options are available with this kit. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Low-profile AC unit replaces the Carrier air conditioner on your RV or camper. Included adapter wiring kit enables the AC to work with your existing setup. The start capacitor jumpstarts the AC when camp power or generator power isn't enough.

So EASY it aughta’ be CHEESY!!! Unboxed AC Unit, noticed two dents in the unit but none of the parts looked damaged or inconsistent; So I decided not to call regarding minor damage, instead I decided to install it by using two ramps I made out of scrap wood. TIP: the wooden ramps made it so simple to install the unit with minimal effort and two people. This made it a breeze to put in and I really recommend using this tip when installing your unit… The New Advent AC Unit made is so simple to plug into the dometic. This unit is made for easy installation and almost a universal fit. Great Experience at this establishment and happy with their product and selection of RV and Trailer parts. I will definitely recommend to all my fellow RV’ers! Happy Shopping! Always remember… Keep your library card updated!??????

I purchased this 15,000 BTU unit with the direction from customer service. I was told that it was a replacement for my original Dometic AC on my 5th wheel and that it would mount and have identical wiring.
They were very helpful and correct. It was extremely easy to replace. The mounting bolts and wiring hook up were identical to my old unit. The hardest part was getting it on the roof of my camper which actually wasn’t that difficult. I put an old piece of carpet (upside down) on the roof to protect it. I used my tractor with a front loader to lift it as high as I could then just set it up on the roof.
Once I removed the diverter/trim from the inside ceiling there are 4 bolts holding the unit in place, one wiring plug and the freeze sensor attached to the evaporator. Once that was all done it just lifted off the roof. After cleaning the roof where the old unit set, I simply set the new unit on the same seal footprint. I went inside hook up the wire plug, located the freeze sensor and tightened the 4 bolts. Don’t tighten the bolts too tight, just enough to hold it tight and adequately compress the foam seal.
The overall size of the new unit is shorter and smaller than the Dometic.

Item arrived damaged by UPS. I contacted etrailer & they are sending a replacement. Very good customer service. As you can looks like the unit was thrown around during shipping.

Changed out dometic 13,500 BtU conditioner with 15,000 BTU with Advent Air. The fit was exactly the same dimensions with the same plug for thermostat and other controls. All I had to reconnect was the 115v electric. When started it took about 30 seconds for fan ramp up to full speed and then compressor kicked in. Two people took two hours. One person had previous experience. Should work well cooling a 30ft fifth wheel camper.

So far so good, I ordered two of these to replace my existing units.
One unit arrived damaged, but is working OK.
They seem a little noiser than the Coleman Machs.
Working good so far.

We are very happy with our Etrailer purchase! We replaced our 13.5K BTU Dometic Brisk 2 with a comparable low-profile Advent unit. As we were not totally sure of which unit to purchase, we made a quick call into the call center to confirm compatibility. The call center was very friendly & helpful. We received our A/C unit in a timely manner with only 1 minor dent from the shipping process. This did not appear to compromise the unit's function, so we proceeded with the install. As many customers have noted previously, the hardest part of the installation was getting the unit onto the roof. Installing the provided start capacitor went smoothly and the unit fit our Coachmen Apex's measurements well. The plugs & wiring were compatible making the final change-over very easy. As noted in the unit's description, installation hardware is not included in the purchase but was not necessary, as our existing hardware fit precisely. Our new unit is better-looking & much more aerodynamic and compact. Best of all it is MUCH quieter & seems to cool very efficiently in our humid, Southern heat!! Etrailer saved us hundreds of dollars with this purchase, and we can't be more satisfied. Thank you Etrailer! :)
I included a photo of my husband's method of getting the unit onto the roof for your enjoyment.

AC works, however, the bottom half of the unit was bent, someone damaged (bent it) the bottom portion and must have put a new top cover on it and boxed the unit up. The box was in perfect shape.

Delivery was quick - two days. The AC arrived undamaged. E trailer has plenty of great installation videos which made the process smooth and uneventful. Everything performs as promised. For some reason Advent air conditioners don't come with a hard start capacitor included and they were on back order virtually everywhere online. So the 2 week plus wait for that was a bit annoying, but by no means a game changer. Basically Advent us a great unit at a great price that was easy to install diy.

Bought this to replace an older (2007) Coleman 8000 on our pop-up. Had a bit of a time installing this. Please, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and LOOK AT THE PICTURES. I had the upper duct that mounts to the roof unit installed 180 degrees off.

The converter kit that you buy with this if you're replacing a Coleman, didn't fit my Coleman panel. It's made for newer units. After talking to etrailer and the manufacturer I found I had to purchase a new control panel for inside. Another $85.

Overall it wasn't a bad job once I figured out the upper duct and the control panel issues. Unit cools well. About the same noise level as the old Coleman. It is not as thick top to bottom as the Coleman was. Think it's a little lighter after picking up both! Real test of how it works will be the trip we're taking next month.

have installed a few ac's over the years the smaller profile and weight as well as a simple plug and play made this advent a success in application . benefits over commercial dometic it replaced were quieter and less vibration as well as a general feeling of cooler throughout my 36 newmar .las vegas heat will continue to challenge the unit , we'll see if it survives the summer. so far pleased !

Replacing an aged Carrier Air 5. This unit was plug 'n play with the old controls ... as I didn't want to give up the old remote or worry about the furnace interface. Will was great on the phone and got me all I needed, plus follow-up on shipments. The new unit is a bit louder, but the air is cold.

The unit arrived, and I installed it the very next day. Overall, I spent about 2 hours preparing and completing the project, and the air conditioner works great.

Unit came damaged, I opened it up on a Thursday and immediately called and Rochelle had a replacement to me on Saturday and installed on Sunday. Worked perfectly, the online video's are helpful. Some more detailed instructions with pictures would be a suggestion. I feel like I torqued the bolts, but it seems like it is almost excessive torque. The instructions do say the seals will crush to about a half inch which is quite a bit of tightening. Overall very happy and happy with the service from Rochelle to get the replacement fast and the call tag for the old one was called in and picked up on a Monday so all is good.

Puts out lots of cold air. No directions on how to matchup to a Coleman diversion box. Lots of DIY videos latter, some rigid insulation and duct tape and it works great. 100 degrees outside, and the AC is pushing 60-degree air inside. Easily keep inside temp at 72. Coleman Mach 1 could barely keep it at 80. Customer service has always been really friendly.

Just as stated. Replacement for my dometic. The installation was just as shown on video. Thanks to a son that has an auto crane. Great help for a 69 year old who thought about pulling it up an extension ladder.

This item did not arrive today. I ordered a package deal with the rv AC and the distribution ent with thermostat. Today I received the distribution vent with the thermostat. Why sell as a complete set with the item doesn’t ship together. On item came from Missouri and the other is coming from Utah. Installation was set for tomorrow but that is not going to happen. Funny thing is while ordering it stated it was in stock and would be arriving today. Just missing my AC unit. Not the best service from etrailer.

I don't know about longevity however I replaced 2 Dometic Brisk 2 systems on a camper I bought that needed a little more than tlc. It is a 2 zone Dometic system and these plugged right up. Only had them in a for a few days but they work great! Very pleased. I am hoping they last. Shipping was FAST and Etrailer kept me up to date on status. They were also very helpful with questions I had to make sure they would work with my system. I think these are actually quieter than the Dometics I replaced. Not hard to install, in fact the hardest part was getting them on the roof.

Super fast delivery! I ordered ours after discovering the old Dometic unit had died on July 1st, and the new Advent unit arrived on July 3rd :-). Installation was even easier than in the YouTube direction video. I had the old one out, and the new one installed and running in less than an hour. Couldn't be happier with my purchase, and hopefully this one will last as long as the as one (19 years).

Easy to install. Plug and play.
of mind knowing our pets will stay cool on hot days.
Old unit leaked refrigerant, unable to locate source. Thin foreign copper is suspect. RV AC units do not have service ports. They prefer you to use and throw
Ordering from etrailer is always easy.

I received this awesome air conditioner unit in a week. Was a very easy install with great instructions. Blows very cold. Good unit

Just a advertised worked great, easy installation. Packed well, s9shipping wasn't particularly fast but very trackable.

The A/C seem to be a good value and the customer service from Britney was great. It was not clear to me that this unit didn't include all of the inside the camper components and thermostat as shown in the installation video.

It literally took a half hour to install. I’m so happy that I did it myself and I would recommend it to anybody. Today is July 5 and it’s 106 outside here in AZ and I’m inside my trailer, nice and cool, excellent product.

Great customer service and communication a slight delay on the shipping due availability of the specific A/C ordered.

  • Is It Normal For An Advent Air Replacement AC Unit To Stop For 15-20 Seconds Before Starting Up
Hey Keith, The 15 to 20 second delay is likely just the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup # ASA38YR trying to communicate with the controller from your Carrier system. When mixing systems there can be a delay in communication. It could also indicate that the unit isn't receiving enough power to kick on and tries to start, can't, builds up energy, and then kicks on. Did you install the included start capacitor to help ease the load on start up? An electrician...
