How to Properly Measure for Cut-Out Dimension
There are two main dimensions you need to know when choosing a replacement access door or adding a new one to your RV:
The cut-out diameter is the width of the circle needed to ensure the access door mounts flush to the wall of your RV.
The mounting depth is the depth needed behind the mounting surface for the access door's hatch to properly fit.

Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com Today we're taking a quick look at the replacement access hatch for your RV. This is going to be an easy to open and close threaded access hatch, so you can seal up a small compartment, whether that's your plumbing, electrical compartment, or maybe a cargo area somewhere they're keeping some hoses. It's going to have a watertight seal since there's a gasket going around the edge of the opening there. So as soon as we close down our lid and get it nice and tightened it up, it's going to keep any water from going in or out. It's made out of a UV resistant and also impact resistant plastic, comes in white. It does have these little finger grips so you can turn it to open it or close it and it's also going to have a little emboss.
You probably can't see it on camera since it's kind of white on white, but it does have a little emboss label to help you identify which direction will open it or close it. Generally it's going to be righty tighty lefty loosey type rules. So if I can get this lined up, close it up and we'll talk about the size. It's a five inch diameter opening, but I want to give you a full array of numbers to make sure that this is going to fit with your application. There we go. The outside edge or the rough opening of that this is going to fit is actually about five and a half inches.
So if we go from this edge to the same point on the other side, what's actually going to fit into that opening It's five and a half inches there. This portion, the interior is right at five inches, so the opening size will be five inches. The overall width, so from the most, the outermost edge to the same point on the other side, that's about six and three quarter inches. It's a pretty low profile design, just about maybe a quarter of an inch that this is going to stick out from your RV. Of course there is a bit of a collar that goes back down in there and that's about three eighths of an inch thick. It doesn't come with any hardware to get this attached, but you will need six counter sunk or flat top screws to get that installed, about an eighth inch in diameter or three sixteenths inches in diameter, and the distance between those center to center is roughly a six and about six and three sixteenths of an inch apart or just shy of six and a quarter inch apart. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the replacement access hatch for RVs.
Should get you a nice, easy to use opening to keep all your items secure on your RV. We do have a slightly smaller size. If you're interested in that, you can find that again here at etrailer.com along with a lot of other replacement parts and accessories for your RV. So definitely check them out if you're interested. Thanks for watching.
