Video Transcript for Review of Coghlans Portable Grills and Fire Pits - Grills - CG93ZR

Hey, everybody. Welcome to www.etrailer.com. at the Conklin's Tripod Camping Grill. Now this is going to be an excellent way if you guys are looking for a decent little grill to go ahead and put up above any of those campfires you guys might be creating. Whether you find yourself at a semi-permanent RV spot, campground, or maybe you're doing a little backtracking out in the backwoods, this can be a nice way of giving yourself a very decent grill to go ahead and get above your campfire that you might create. So going to be a four piece leg on each side here makes it really easy to go ahead and throw these guys together, and then get them thrown up which is great.

So it takes no time to get the set up. I'd give it about probably five minutes for your first one, just to kind of get used to it. But once you really start tearing this guy up and down, think it's going to come to you in no time at all. I had to kind of reset it up later, and it took me five minutes the first time about three minutes the second time. So once you get it almost takes no time at all, which is great.

So you do obviously just have your four piece legs, like we said. You're going to have your chain here. And these guys just go ahead and anchor in on these side points here to hold your grill up. And then they wrap through the top thing here, and then they actually sink into the side here. So this back channel and kind of get away from it.

It's actually, what's holding this in place. So how this lever works, all we have to do is go ahead and actually push it in or towards the down. You can see that wants to lift that up. That makes it really easy to go ahead and change the height on this guy. So go ahead and load up our food and then drop it down the size of our fire, or maybe we just need it to get it out of the flame really quick.

When we're done with it all we got to do bring it up and that can get it out of the way. So I really do like that adjustment. It works really well. It's solid too. It handles pretty good weight on there. I haven't gotten a test of that with anything too crazy, but I think if you do have a small pot of water, it could do a decent enough job of getting that, boil it up, maybe for some coffee in the morning, something like that. They do suggest to only use cookware when in use of this so pots, pans, and anything like that. They don't want you to grill directly on it. It is nickel-plated so you know it's going to be holding up well, and these legs too are galvanized steel. So even if you do find yourself leaving this out in the weather, I think it's gonna be holding up well enough for it. Now I think this is actually going to perform better when you have a little bit of a soft ground to actually insert here. So these sides, if you do find yourself doing this on to be concrete or something, maybe get some rubber stoppers could be great. I could see this even being nice for tailgating, you know. If you're getting crazy with it, having a nice little big old bonfire open, then you can just lower something down, perfect for like hot chocolate or something like that; but they are wanting to shift just a little bit on our like kind of concrete here today; but again, that's soft ground. I think it's going to be really great when you actually sink in above those campfires. It'll do an excellent job for that. Now you do have about 17 inches diameter here. It's going to be plenty I think for most of us to go ahead and put our pots. I think the biggest thing that's going to be holding us up is actually these chains right here. You can see they're pretty lax though. So you could even squeeze a pot in here, and we go ahead and just get them out to the side, and they wouldn't really be too much of a hindrance hanging out at the size of this pots and pans that may thrown on there. But that'd be my only concern. Seventeen inches is huge for what you're mainly wanting. It's almost the size of your fire, probably. So definitely not going to be too much of an issue there. Now I will say it is pretty solid for being what it is, right, where you just have a top plate that's actually holding this; but even if I kind of bump it to the side, yes, it's moving, right Yeah, it's not staying exactly where we want it, but it's not falling over all the way. So even if you have a kid all rushing around, he accidentally hits it with a foot, or maybe somebody's had a few too many, not going to be having the worst of times with this getting a hit or two, not going to be falling over. Now, it is going to shift though right And I think the more weight you have on here in the middle, the less shift are going to see as well. It all just kind of works in tandem. Now, putting it away, it takes no time at all. All we want to do is pop this guy off, especially going to let that lever kind of cinch in there. I can go ahead and set this guy to the side. One last little thing, it can be nice for it too. Even if you don't find yourself cooking with it, using this as a lantern holder. You can just get a little light hanging right there, and then we can just have it there and have a nice little broadcasted light for everybody at the campsite. So that's actually kind of cool. It has a little bit of use in other than just cooking. Cause we're not going to be cooking all the time, right Unless you're really, really lucky. So yeah. Going to be real easy to put this away. The only thing I'd watch out for when you do to take this top off, let me go ahead and show you guys. It can be a little finicky. So hopefully that'll make a fool of myself here for you. But all I like to do is kinda walk these guys in oh and just like that. So we're going to go. So what I like to do kind of push these guys at the top, get your plate off. That's going to allow you to kinda like store this guy in a pocket somewhere and then just work your way from the top to the bottom taking these guys off. Oh and right there, like I said, I can see, I have those top guys pretty well in there, but yeah, just walking your way like this; and that way you don't have it falling apart on you and you have your last three guys here. Let's go ahead and take them out, and you can get all these guys stored away. So you can see it really doesn't take too much time. One thing I'd be careful of is when you are starting to take down that tripod, these legs like to kind of go either way; and then they can come undone pretty easily too if you don't have them really secure itself. When you actually do get them set up for the first time, stomp them on the ground a few times really get them all in place, and that's going to be helpful as well to keep them from moving. And one thing that's nice too guys, as they ruin the take, they are gonna be able to be stored in this, which is great. So going to be nice to go ahead and get everything in this little box, you can see really doesn't take up too much room. I'm going to make this really easy to store even inside the vehicle if you're doing a little backtracking or if you have an RV that you're consistently using the side of going to be really, really easy to go ahead and store this container and not take up too much room. So overall, I think it's gonna be a great way guys of giving yourself a nice little grill above your campfires that I've been setting up. That way you can always add a hot meal no matter where you are. Well guys, I think that that about does it for our look at the Conklin's Tripod Camping Grill here at www.etrailer.com. I'm Bobby. Thanks for watching..
