Today we're going to take a look at the TowReady pintle hook, number 63014. This pintle hook can be bolted to a pintle hitch mount or directly to a reinforced utility truck bumper. It has a gross towing weight capacity of 20,000 lbs., and a tongue weight capacity of 4,000 lbs. As you can see, the mounting hardware is included. It has four mounting holes, as you can see here. And we'll do a quick measure.
From center-to-center side-to-side is 3-3/8", and center-to-center top-to-bottom is 1-3/4". The holes themselves are 17/32" in diameter. The way this works is, to open this up to attach to a lunette ring, you will unhook the clip and pop that out. As you can see, the pin and clip are attached to the product with a lightweight chain. You will lift the lever here, and that opens that up.
And then you will back up into the trailer and the lunette ring will fit right on there. You will then close that end for additional security. You will put the pin and clip back in there, and it fits in like that. Pop that in and then the lever is going to stay shut. It will not open up while you're travelling.
To show you how this would work with the pintle mount, we have our 2" receiver demonstrator here. As you can see, we have our DrawTite pintle hook mount. That is number 63057. It is sold separately. It fits a 2" receiver, like this one.
And then you would use the mounting hardware to bolt that in however you need. This is in the drop position. However you need your drop or rise is the way you would put your pintle mount in there, and again you would just bolt that however you needed. That should just about do it for our TowReady pintle hook, number 63014.

I needed a new pintle to haul my tractor. This one is perfect and heavy duty.
I've had no problems so far. Hooks and unhooks easily, a good strong product. I've used it for a year with a Big Tex tandem trailer, usually pulling 15000 lbs total.
My previous pintle hitch broke on a trip down to Baja, MX. The hitch purchased from etrailer is much stronger and weathered the same trip with no problems.
Worked great with the drop hitch.

Product seemed well built, but the black paint was barely on it, looks like the pintle was sprayed after it was together so that none of the areas that are covered when it is closed were painted at all. I'm a little dissapointed with this facet. but otherwise it seemed to be in good condition.

Just installed it this morning. If you order this for the Toyota LandCruiser FJ-80, plan on buying two bolts that don't come with the kit. They just screw in the pre threaded holes. No biggy. About six bucks. Otherwise, good so far. Installation is easy. I recommend for now.

Pintle hook was exactly as shown. Latching mechanism is tight with minimal free play, and the safety pin is heavier grade that other pintle hooks I"ve used.
The customer service I received was wonderful. We have not used the product yet, but it was received exactly when it was supposed to show up with all the correct parts in the box. I plan on using etrailer for other purchases as well.
