This unique, adjustable pintle plate from Gen-Y Hitch offers 7 mounting positions for your pintle hook (sold separately). This lets you easily adjust the height of your pintle hook. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y pintle hook mounting plate absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.
Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.
Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the pintle plate, which provides the connection point for your pintle hook, and therefore the trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the pintle plate portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.
Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the pintle plate rises or falls, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the plate's motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.
This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerks to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.
This pintle plate from Gen-Y Hitch has 16 mounting holes, providing 7 different positions for your pintle hook. With the 7 mounting positions, you have the ability to adjust the height of your pintle hook to match your application. You can also use this plate as a mounting point for your Gen-Y bolt-on stacked receivers (GH-124 - sold separately).
This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The highest arrow on the scale indicates the mount's maximum tongue weight (2,400 lbs). The middle arrow indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). There must be a minimum tongue weight of 1,600 lbs for the built-in shock absorption to function. This means that the tongue weight scale's white indicator marker should be between the highest arrow and the arrow directly below it when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Gen-Y torsion pintle hook mounting plate for 2 1/2 inch hitches. This system is kind of like an all in one deal. The only thing that you need to add on to it is a pintle hook mount. This pintle plate torsion drop hitch is compatible with most four hole pattern bolt on pintle hook mounts out there on the market. These mount holes are separated apart from one another on center up and down by 1 3/4 inches and then side to side on center by 3 3/8 inches. Hardware is not included.
This is designed to fit inside of a 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch trailer hitch receiver. It features a 21,000 pound towing capacity and a 2400 pound tongue weight capacity. It can be used in the drop or rise positions and provides up to a 6 1/2 inch riser drop. Now, the unit features seven adjustable positions. This insures that your towing set up is always as level as possible. You have position one, two, three, four, five, six and seven.
torsion hitches have a lot of great features. The reason why they're called torsion hitches is you'll notice that they're pretty beefy. Internally, back in this area here, top and bottom, there are heavy duty rubber torsion flex inaudible 00:01:18, and those are designed to absorb shock, which would help reduce, if not eliminate shock transfer. With rubber torsion hitches about only 10% of the trailer inertia actually transfers to the vehicle compared to 100% when using a standard hitch. Now, the tow vehicle and the trailer are designed to track independently with this system, so that's going to give you greater control and added safety by reducing the amount of sway and trailer bounce.
Braking control also increases, since all the weight on the tow vehicle and trailer is distributed evenly. You have increased positive contact when breaking and maneuvering. This system also helps keep you under control when confronted with road conditions. When you're driving and you hit a bump or a pot hole, expansion joints, curbs, hills and so on, you're going to feel like you have a lot more control, not only over your vehicle but also the trailer that's behind you.One of the really neat statistics that I appreciate about this system is this is rated to have a 90% smoother ride, which will help increase a lot of different things such as tire life, gas mileage, and I think most importantly, it helps reduce driver fatigue. When you're towing a big trailer, you really feel like sometimes you have to work at it.
You'll notice that your knuckles are white because you're gripping the steering wheel so hard, or so tight. Your arms, your forearms get tired. Your upper body gets exhausted because you're feeling like you're having to fight crosswinds or passing traffic. This system is designed to reduce driver fatigue. It's designed to really help reduce the amount of sway and bounce that your trailer experiences.Another neat thing is it also since it reduces driver fatigue, it's also designed to reduce trailer fatigue. Your trailer isn't going to wear out as fast. It may be, most importantly is the gear that you're hauling. It might be livestock, it might be some expensive toys. Whatever it is that you're hauling with this system, it's going to be protected. It's not going to have a rough of a ride.It is fabricated with heavy duty steel. It's precision milled and drilled for perfect look and fit, and it has protected powder coat finishing on it, which keeps it safe from rust and corrosion. Also, another neat thing I appreciate is that there is very low maintenance with this system. You don't have any airbags or bearings to manage. All there is is located right here. You can see one of them, or just the tip of one of them. This is a inaudible 00:03:56, so you have one located right here and one directly on the opposite end of it. Two inaudible 00:04:04 on the unit, that way you can easily attach a grease gun and pump in the grease. It does come prelubricated, but you can easily get the grease in there and lubricate those moving components, that way they perform the way that they're designed to.Another neat feature is a lot of times with heavy duty applications, a lot of concern is focused on the tongue weight. This unit has a built in mechanical tongue weight scale for balanced, safe loading. You have the engraved white hash mark there, and then you have this metal bracket. You want to ensure that that white hash mark does not go over the top of the bracket, or does not come under the bracket. You want to be kind of right in this area here when you're hooked up. There's also one located right here, so if you have this flipped over in the rise position you can still clearly see that tongue weight scale. The product is made in the USA. It has a 10 year warranty on all moving parts and a lifetime guarantee on the rest of the components. It does come with a hitch pin and clip. You have two pin holes to choose from when installing this in your hitch. You just choose whatever one works best for your application. That's going to do it for today's look at the Gen-Y torsion pintle hook mounting plate for 2 1/2 inch hitches.
