Specs:
This unique, hitch-mounted platform step is perfect for your pet, and perfect for you too. It allows your dog to jump in and out of your truck bed without your assistance. You can also use the step as a temporary seat to lace up your hiking boots or as a shelf to set your backpack on while you check its contents. And when you're ready to hit the road again, just rotate the step beneath your vehicle for storage and travel.
To position the platform so you can step up onto your bumper or use it as a stand, lift the T-handle and rotate it until the locating pin snaps into place. To extend the platform beyond your lowered tailgate so your dog can get into your truck bed lift the small lever at the rear pivot and rotate it until the second locating pin snaps into place.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Heininger PortablePet Twistep, part number HE3045. Bringing Rover along just got easier. The Heininger Twistep saves you the trouble of lugging around a ramp or step-stool and it comes with you. Simply rotate the step around, and once more, and then you're good to go. It's adjustable in and out and up and down so you don't have to worry about it interfering with your spare tire, exhaust, or anything else. It features two step positions, one for you and one for your best friend.
It has a rubberized anti-slip surface and it's powder coated for all-weather durability. The step measures 22 inches long by 19 inches deep here at the center. With it fully extended, from the center of our first hitch pin hole to the outside edge, measures about 44 and a half inches. From the center of our second hitch pin hole to the edge measures about 42 inches. With it folded in those same measurements, we're looking at 30 and a half inches and 28 inches.
With it tucked underneath, from the center of the first hitch pin hole to the outside edge, measures 16 inches. From the center of the second hitch pin hole to the outside edge measures 18 and a half inches. Not only is it going to make it easier for your dog, but let's be honest, if you have a 200 pound mastiff, it's going to make it easier for you. Dingo here only weighs 20 pounds but the step has a capacity of 400 pounds, so bring Beethoven along too. Good boy. Now that we've gone over some features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. We'll take it and we're just going to feed it into our receiver tube and line up our pinholes.
Then we'll take our included anti-rattle bolt with our lock washer and thread that through. We're just going to use our 15/16th socket. Good, nice and secure. The nice thing about our anti-rattle bolts, it's going to help reduce all that play and that rattle within our receiver tube and our shank to make it a nice, solid ride for our step. To use it, we're just going to lift up on our T handle and we can spin it either way, just spin it out until it locks into place.
You can use it just like this. It's a perfect people step to get things out of your truck bed. To get it ready for Rover, simply lift up on the blue handle. You can spin the knob either direction until it snaps into place. Then we can drop down our tailgate and load up our best friend. inaudible 00:02:36. That's going to complete our look at the Heininger PortablePet Twistep, part number HE3045. .
Well made. Packed and ships well.
High quality, quick shipping. Our golden retriever loves it.
The step works as advertised. It is very convenient and easy to use.
I have these steps on all of my vehicles. They are easy to use and work great for my older dogs.
Very sturdy
We have used our PortablePet Twistep for several years very successfully on our SUV. Our German Shepard
Dog gets in and out of the car with ease.
I have a 2007 Tahoe with the step at the lowest drop it contacts the spare tire so we can't rotate it.
Really good quality step. Like that it can be adjusted. The price was a put off at first, but really glad I ordered it. Fantastic quality.
My 11 year old baby (130# Anatolian Shepherd) has no problem using the step. He actually waits for me to pull the step out before he'll get in the back of the Outback.
Works well, easy to use, dogs adapted quickly to using it to jump in and out of crates in back of SUV
The step came assembled, read to use.
High quality product.
Easy to install and remove.
Plan to use it as a step into the cargo area of a Fun Mover for ease of access.
Comes with instructions and recommendations for maintenance to maximize life of product.
This device worked very well for us for an old dog who refuse to be picked up. He has unfortunately since passed away but it served him very well while he needed it. You really have to keep the bearing oiled to keep dirt out of it.
Excellent platform size. It went on easily, well made.
Really Really Love it (and so do my dogs). Great Quality. Pretty much changed my life- always have had big dogs!! Great customer service by etrailer!
I love the adjustability and stability of this Twistep. The platform can be moved up or down as well as closer or further from the vehicle. And it's solid and doesn't bang around when driving over uneven surfaces. When researching hitch mounted platforms for my dogs, it was a toss up between this one and a 2-step hitch that folded up. I chose this one based on the size of the platform, which was considerably bigger than the steps on the 2-step hitch, and I'm glad I did. I have a Ridgeback mix and this is the perfect size for her.
I have a 2014 Escape and wanted to give my dogs a way to get in the back of my car without having to lift or assist them. This works perfectly. Was easy to install - easy to twist to put under the bumper - very secure and study for dogs. The Escape has the foot assisted lift gate - put your foot by the hitch and lift gate opens. Was concerned that every time I twisted it under the car it would open the gate. So far that has not happened and I can still use my foot to open the gate. I have a 2"receiver but the Advantage Threaded Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" Hitches - HE6033 is the hitch pin you want.
The Twistep was ordered to gain easier access to my Alaskan Camper mounted on a GMC HD 2500 4X4 which is rather high. It seems great....non-slip surface and a good size for our two standard poodles. Tucks back under the truck when not in use, and will stay installed. I returned the SilentACT locking hitch pin, as it was not compatible for my application. My truck has a 2 1/2" hitch receiver, with a 2 " adapter, & the locking hitch pin did not work. I purchased a 5" course thread bold, large washers, & locking nut & the bolt is installed thru the receiver, threads thru both threaded areas on the Twistep, and is very securely mounted to the hitch. As the step will rarely be removed, this works fine.
Owned for over a year and this is an absolutely awesome product ! Highly recommend for dog owners. Leave it all the time with no issues!
Love the Twiststep! Have had one for my dogs for years and only had to replace the last one because I sold the car and the new buyer wanted it.
I recommend etrailer for the Twiststep and any hitch needs you have.
I have easily 50 people ask me about our step. Absolutely love it. As a feature enhancement an electronic release would help the mobility challenged. I use mine for my service dog. He loves it too.
If you have a large dog this is a must, steps 's right in the back of the car no jumping in and out hurting his joints!
Sturdy and well built , noww we to train the big clumsy dog
