Video Transcript for Roadmaster Padlocks - Base Plate Lock - RM-305 Review

Today, we're going to be reviewing part number RM-305. This is the Roadmaster Coupler Padlock. It's going to be designed for use with steel master and tracker tail bars, but it can work on a variety of applications. It's going to feature a nice metal housing around the lock core right here, but you can see that it does leave the key hole exposed for easy access. It's going to come with two keys. It's a really simple and easy operation. All you got to do is place the key into there keyhole and then as you turn it and unlock it, it's about a quarter of a turn, it's going to disengage the shuffle of the pin from the lock body, so then you can place this through whatever application you want to use it on.

Then simple just push it back down into the lock house in there. It's going to come with two keys. They're going to be keyed alike, so you always have a backup. Now the shackle on the body are going to be made from a hardened steel construction for security, and it's going to do a good job when it comes to resisting rust and corrosion. A few measurements to go over with real quick to see if this is going to be a good fit for your application. Let me give you the measurements of the lock body, measuring this direction. It's going to give us a measurement of about an inch and a half. Measuring this direction, looks like it's going to measure about one and 7/8 of an inch.

Then right here it's going to measure about three quarters of an inch. Now, the overall length of this unit measuring from edge-to-edge, that's going to give us a measurement of about 5 inches. It's going to feature a quarter inch pin diameter, and then the opening size measuring from the top of the housing to the bottom of that shackle, that's going to give us some measurement of about 2 and fifteen sixteenth of an inch. Measure in this direction, the opening size looks to me about three quarters of an inch. That's going to do it for our review of part number RM-305. This is the Roadmaster Coupler Padlock. .

Works better than a bolt, but would not use for security. Coupling lock would be better, if security is priority, 38743

I had one of these locks break from the force of the tow bar not sure if theyre strong enough to use on a tow bar.

We've never heard of this before, so we'd like to gather some information from you. There shouldn't be much force exerted on this lock when it's used in the coupler. If the coupler latch is closed all the way, the force should be on the coupler frame, not on the latch. What tow bar are you using? Is the coupler matched to the size of the ball on your RV? Does the towed vehicle have brake system? Any more information you might have could be helpful.

  • Recommendation for a Handle Locking Pin on the Reese Titan 20k Sliding Hitch
  • Good news, I was able to find 3 pins that will work for you. The Torklift Turnbuckle Pin Lock # TL11001, Roadmaster Coupler Padlock # RM-305, and the Husky Safety Lock Pin # 80235 were the three pins I found that will fit through the hole in the handle. I tested all of these options and would recommend the # TL11001 because it was the easiest to insert and remove and is a locking pin. Alternatively, the Roadmaster Padlock was very tight and the Husky fit just fine but doesn't have...

  • Availability of a 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2017 Nissan Titan XD with Factory Prep Package
  • I have the perfect solution for you! The Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Nissan Titan XD Towing Prep Package # C16520-16026 is a confirmed fit for the factory towing package on your 2017 Nissan Titan XD. This 5th wheel hitch will simply drop into the factory towing package on your XD and then secure into place once the handles are rotated into place. You can lock the arms with the Roadmaster Padlock # RM-305 for added security. This hitch offers a jaw that provides 360-degree...

  • Is a Locking Cable Included in Both Heininger Advantage HE1011 and Curt C18013 Towing Bike Racks
  • The Curt Clamp-On 3 Bike Towing Rack # C18013 does include a security cable to lock your loaded bikes. But please note that the rack does not includes the lock, just the cable. You can add you own padlock like the Roadmaster # RM-305. I have linked videos of both racks to better illustrate their features and to help you make your decision.

  • Will the Fulton Outboard Motor Lock # FOML0127 Fit on a 2009 Yamaha F250 Outboard Motor
  • The Fulton Outboard Motor Lock # FOML0127 is a universal-fit item intended to fit a broad range of motors. However, it will work only outboard motors that have the swivel handles that are used to tighten the mounting bolts that secure the motor to the transom. Your Yamaha F250 outboard has, according to the online manual I found, a weight (without propeller) of 604-lbs. The manual does not provide much detail about the mounting scheme but it appears to be a semi-permanent installation...

  • Fit of Curt C18013 Clamp-On Bike Rack on 2014 Lexus GX460
  • The Curt # C18013 Clamp-On bike rack can indeed be used when not towing a trailer. The rack has a 135 lb total capacity. In order to carry the bikes level and to provide maximum ground clearance, I'd highly recommend an adapter bar like part # 64005 be used. The bike rack doesn't have any built-in locking mechanism, but the clamp that locks the rack on to the ball mount can be locked using a coupler lock like part # 7691. The rack includes a cable that can secure the bikes to the rack...

  • Is The Tow-Rax Battery Box # TWSP14BP Lockable
  • The Tow-Rax Battery Box, part # TWSP14BP does not come with a lock available. If you want to lock the box you would have to fabricate something, possibly using a padlock like part # RM-305. That would require drilling into the box lid and cabinet and may not be the best option. We do offer a very nice locking battery box, part # TLA7712R. This battery box comes with the hardware needed to mount it to the trailer frame or any other place you have room and has a lockable lid included.

  • Locking the Swagman XTC4 Wheel Mount Bike Rack and Securing the Rack to the Vehicle
  • The topmost hook on each upright can be locked with a padlock. You would need 4 small padlocks to lock each of the bikes. I have a recommendation that may be a bit easier if you do not like the idea of 4 padlocks. You could use the Roadmaster Coupler Padlock, item # RM-305, and a cable like the Master Lock 10-mm Braided Steel Cable - 6 foot, item # 78DPF. With this lock and the cable you could slide the lock through one of the sets of holes at the base of the outermost upright bar and...

  • What is the Hole Size Next to the Upright Bar On the Swagman XC2 Wheel Mount Hitch Bike Rack
  • I believe you are asking about the holes in the brackets at the base of the upright on the Swagman XC2 Wheel Mount Bike Rack, item # S64650, (see picture link). The oblong holes, closest to the upright bar are 3/8 inch wide and 1/2 inch tall. The round holes farther out on each side are 3/8 inch diameter. The overall width from the outside of the front bracket to the outside of the rear bracket is 1-1/2 inches. To secure the bike rack and bikes to the chain loops on your hitch I would...

  • Can Dead Bolt Spare Tire Lock # 4324 Be Used With Smittybilt SRC Oversize Tire Carrier Part 2743
  • According to my contact at Smittybilt their SRC Oversize Tire Carrier Part 2743 can be used with a lock, but it has to be a standard padlock with a U-shaped shackle. Dead Bolt Spare Tire Lock # 4324 will not work. You can use a padlock such as Master Lock # 131D or Roadmaster # RM-305, which has a extra long shackle.

  • Can the Thule Roadway # TH912XTR be Used on a 5th Wheel Trailer
  • As much as I would love to help you find out a way to use the Thule Roadway # TH912XTR for your application, it has not been tested and approved for use at the rear of a 5th wheel trailer. Since the trailer hitch on a 5th wheel (or even a travel trailer) sits further back from the rear axle than it does on a vehicle, there is a lot more stress which some bike racks cannot handle. The Roadway is one of them. The best solution for your application is to go with the Curt Clamp-On 3 Bike...
