Video Transcript for MaxxTow Off-Road 2 Row Light Bar Installation - 2017 Polaris Ranger

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Polaris Ranger, we're going to take a look at and showing you how to install the MaxxTow two row off road light bar. Part number MT80634.So here are our headlights, and here it is with our MaxxTow light bar. With the light off, you can see that we're going to have a two row light bar. Each one is going to have 40 LEDs that are going to be three watts a piece. And the LEDs inside are going to have a 30,000 hour lifespan. And as you can see over here on the side, these are going to be your flood LEDs. And more towards the center, we're going to have more of a spot beam LED, so these are going to be great for seeing long distances and shining out off to the side as well. The beginning installation, we're going to want to mount the brackets onto the end of our light bar.

Now, the important thing to pay attention to, is where the wire is coming out. Your going to make sure you mount your brackets in the appropriate position, so that the wire is coming out on the side you want. So we'll line up our bracket, it's going to have a little teeth on there, that are going to grab the teeth on the side of the light bar. So we're just going to line it up, and take our flat washer, slide it over the end, followed by a lock washer, and you're going to want to come through the side of the bracket, and just loosely get it started so that the leg will hold it's position. And then we can either use the Allen wrench in your kit, or you can use a five millimeter Allen socket, and tighten up that bolt, just a little snug for right now. Just so it'll hold the leg, and it won't move on you.

And then we'll do the same thing on the other side.So now with an extra set of hands, we're going to lift our light bar in the general area where we're going to mount it, and we're going to try to get it as even as we can. We can always double check the measurements of where it needs to go. And once we have our light bar position, I'm going to take a marker, and I'm going to go through the mounting hole, and mark a spot where I'm going to be mounting it on the roof here. We'll do that for both sides. And once we have them marked, we come back with a quarter inch drill bit.

I'm going to drill a hole straight through.Never a good idea to leave exposed metal out, so I'm going to take a little bit of clear spray paint, and just put it on where I drilled. So with both holes drilled out, we're going to put our light bar loosely on top, and then we're going to grab the rubber mounting pad, and that's going to fit right underneath the leg. I just want to make sure you put that in place, before we put our hardware in. And we're going to drop our bolt from the top going down, and then put the rest of our hardware underneath here. We're putting a flat washer, a lock washer, and a nut to secure it down.

And we want to do this for both sides. We're going to get it at least hand tight so we don't have to worry about the light bar moving. And then we can come back and tighten it all up. A little movement to the other side, and tighten that one down as well. Now that our bar is mounted, we can move to the wiring side of things. Now, in our application, we have a hole right here close to where we mounted the bar, so I'm going to pass my wires through there, and have them come down, and we also have another couple holes right here at the top, that will get us into the passenger compartment area. So we'll run our wires through there. So this will give us access to the wiring. Our customers requested that we run the wire inside this pillar here, so we are going to have to drill a few holes. One on the top, and then one at the very bottom of the pillar. So, before we start connecting any wires, first thing we're going to want to do is to find our battery. In our case, our battery is going to be underneath the passenger seat here, so if we just lift it up, lift up this compartment, and set it aside, our battery is going to be right down here. So, we're going to have a relay and a fuse holder that we're going to have to mount pretty close to the battery. So, we're going to just tuck them down into this compartment, so they're out of the way, but the rest of our harness is going to have to go up to the light bar and also route our switch to wherever we decide to mount it.Now fortunately, our switch has a quick disconnect here, so we can go ahead an unplug it, and we can set the actual switch aside. So we don't have to contend with routing that giant switch around. And then the other end of our wire that has the two spade terminals, that's what's going to meet up with our light bar wire. So we'll show you how we routed everything. We have our fuse, and our relay still in our battery box here, and instead of going underneath toward the front, we went towards the driver seat, and we removed our center console here. We're just going to have two push pins on the very back of it, and then two on each side.We ran our cables up through that channel going into the engine compartment, following our battery cables here, then we came up under this panel here, and back into our passenger compartment near the pillar. You can see it fits between the body and this panel here, and then we went through the first hole we drilled out, and used a pull wire to get the harness through our second drilled out hole. For our switch, we removed the center console, and ran it through here. We will mount it later with a double sided tape on the back.Back on the harness, we won't be using a spay terminal, so I'm going to cut them off along with some extra wire so we won't have extra slack when our two sides meet up. Now we can strip back all of our wires. We'll be connecting the red to red, and black to black because I'm inaudible 00:06:21 bar connectors, Part Number DWO5745. Now we use a heat gun to shrink them down. Then we can cover these with some electrical tape for extra protection. Now we're going to tuck all the wires back in. On both holes we use a ground and protect the wires. I think you can pick some up at your local hardware store, or use some black silicon available on our website, with part number LT37467.So we're going to have two more connections to make and that's going to be our power and our ground. So we're going to come to the fuse holder, lift up the tab so we can open it up. And we're going to remove the fuse and this will be the last thing we put in. Now if you look, they are going to have ring terminals pre installed on them, but these are rather large and they are going to be too big for our application. So we're going to go ahead and cut those ring terminals off. And we're going to be replacing them with some new ring terminals that will be more appropriate for putting them onto the battery. Now for our two connections, we can go directly to the battery if we want to. The red would go to the positive and the black would go to the negative. However, we have a post that has all of our electrical accessories already mounted on it right here next to our battery, and if we look down and over just behind those battery cables, we're going to have our ground post right there. So let's slide our ring terminal over, with our positive wire, a red wire, and then we'll replace that nut.So, both of our wires connected, we can go ahead and put our fuse in place. So we went ahead and reconnected our switch up. And we're going to make sure that we get this wire into this little recess right here on the panel, and we're going to kind of tuck it up in this area, so that when we put our panel back it doesn't cause any damage to it. And we're just going to have just enough of that wire sticking out, to where we can put our switch right here. And then we can work on putting all the fasteners in that center console section back in as well.So now if we come to the back of our switch here, we're going to remove the paper backing, and we can just use a double sided tape that's on the back of the switch, push it directly onto the dash here. So now would be a good time, we can turn our light on, and make any kind of adjustments to the angle that we may need and tighten up those two set screws on the top of the brackets. Now that we have the angle set on our light, we can go ahead and tighten up these side bolts, that way it'll keep it in the position we want. And that'll finish up your look at the MaxxTow two row off road light bar, part number MT80634 on our 2017 Polaris Ranger.

Attached are 3 items I recently purchased from etrailer I installed the headache rack and LED light bar. Both work perfectly. The LED bar is super bright and makes backing up at night, or working on the boat/trailer amazingly bright Since my tonneau cover would not work with the rack, I bought the fifth wheel cover. Love all 3 purchases Thanks etrailer 409880

Love the light bar. It works great on my atv and Brightens everything up much better then just the stock head lights. The only reason I give it 3 ?'s is because the switch is very cheap and the screws the mount the brackets to the light bar are to short. I ended up going and buying a better switch and as for the short screws, well I ended up just not using the lock washers so I could get the threads to catch. Other then those 2 things I am happy with this light. 763216

I purchased and installed two light bars on my Ford Ranger recently. The shipping was very fast and the lights came with everything needed to install pretty easily. I mounted the roof lights by with super strong magnets screwed to a wood base I made. The light then screws to the wood. It holds amazingly strong even at 75 MPH. Best of all there are no holes drilled into the roof. The lights are both very bright and effective. i do a lot of driving on forest service roads in Colorado when its dark, so these lights make a huge difference. So far I am very pleased with them. 359176

Thanks for your e-mail. The lights have worked very well when I need them. Weve used them to illuminate the area when setting up our camp site last hunting season. They were very helpful while scouting around in the National Forest roads, where there is no other light source. Ive mounted an additional light on the back of my truck to light up the area for loading and unloading my trailer at night. Very pleased with them. I have also made other purchases of equipment for my truck from etrailer and the service and quality and shipping have been consistently great. Keep it up.

Received the LED Light Bar in a well packed shipping carton. The LED Light Bar quality is excellent, as is the mounting hardware, and the supplied wiring harness with a relay, fuse, and on/off lighted switch. If you don't know how to install a wiring harness.....you will have to find someone to help you. Reason, the supplied instructions I received was the printed on a 1/4 page of a 8x10 piece of paper. A magnifying glass is needed to read the instructions which give minimal step by step instructions. Overall excellent product for the price. Install is on a Jeep Wrangler. Use for Surf Fishing when driving on the beach! 334318

Works great, bright enough for what I use it for. I have it mouted on base magnets to set on my SUV roof for loading / off loading my bass boat at ramps that do not have street lights. Works very well. I can see my trailer just fine loading during night hours. Not hard wired but I plug it into a jumper pack just for this purpose. 775803

  • Roof Rack Kit for a 2015 Ford Escape With a Naked Roof
You have a lot of great options for a 2015 Ford Escape with a bare roof. I recommend the Rhino Rack Vortex kit, consisting of: Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars, 54 Inches, Silver, part # RRVA137S-2, or Black, part # RRVA137B-2 Rhino Rack 2500 Series Legs, part # RRRLKVA Rhino Rack Fit Kit 2500, part # DK375 These are a great balance of compatibility, ease of installation and value. Their aero shape is quieter than other crossbar designs and with the included T-Channel, can use...

  • Adding an LED Roof Light Bar to a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Sport
There isn't a custom light bar/mount for the 2016 Jeep Cherokee Sport. What I recommend is to install a roof rack and attach lights to it; either to the bar directly or to a cargo basket. If the Jeep has the side rails on the roof that run front to back then the most cost effective roof rack is from Inno using feet # INFR and bars # INB117. If the Jeep does not have the side rails then the most cost effective rack is from Rhino-Rack using the following parts: Vortex Aero bars # RRVA137B-2 Feet...
