Add a stylish touch to your Chevy vehicle by replacing its factory rear emblem with this black, light-up version. Red LEDs shine from the Chevy bowtie insignia when you activate your vehicle's tail lights or brake lights.

  • Officially licensed, LED-lighted Chevrolet logo replaces your factory emblem to add a stylish touch to your vehicle
  • Light-up insignia activates when running lights are on and brightens when the brake pedal is pressed
    • Low illumination while you're using tail lights
    • High illumination when you brake or turn on the hazard lights
  • Black metallic coating appears transparent when lights are activated
  • Red LEDs are long-lasting and energy efficient
  • Durable plastic is corrosion resistant
  • Stick-on application with pre-applied heavy-duty tape
  • Emblem hardwires into vehicle's tail lights with included quick-splice connectors

  • Application: most Chevy vehicles
  • Dimensions: 10-1/2" wide x 4" tall
  • 90-Day warranty

Reese has created this light-up emblem to look like an ordinary black Chevy logo in daytime, non-braking situations. When you turn on your vehicle's tail lights or activate the brakes, the emblem's unique metallic coating appears transparent and bright red LEDs shine through. The long-lasting LED cells have 2 intensity levels. The red lights remain set at low illumination when your vehicle's tail lights are on. When you activate your brakes or turn on your hazard lights, the LEDs burn brighter to draw attention to your vehicle. The emblem will not flash when your turn signals are activated.

This light-up emblem is designed to replace your vehicle's factory emblem, but it can also be installed in addition to your OE emblem. Because it simply sticks onto your vehicle with heavy-duty tape, you can mount it almost anywhere. Some vehicles will require removal of the back paneling to access the wiring. For other vehicles, you may have to drill an access hole to run the wiring.

Use a circuit tester (sold separately) to identify your vehicle's wire functions. If your vehicle has a 2-wire system, in which one wire is used for both the brake light and turn signal functions, install the included converter to ensure correct performance.

If you intend to install this emblem on a pickup truck - and you frequently remove your tailgate - then you can install a 2-way flat connector (9651P - sold separately) to make disconnecting the wiring quick and easy.

Video Transcript for Chevrolet Bowtie LED Lighted Emblem Installation - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2002 Chevrolet Silverado we're going to be taking a look at installing the Reese Chevrolet Bowtie LED Lighted Vehicle Emblem. Part Number: RP86618. We'll be installing this in conjunction with the Hopkins 4-Pole Loop. Part Number: HM48145. Here's what it looks like when it's installed. As you can see when it's on during the daylight it's just going to be like a black metallic coating. When you apply your tail lights or your breaks it's going to become transparent and the red LEDs are going to light up through.

As you can see when it's lit up it's going to give you a nice bow tie design on the back of your vehicle. It's going to have high-efficiency, long lasting LED bulbs. It's going to have a very minimal AMP draw on your electrical system. It's a really easy install. You're going to simply drill one hole about a quarter inch in diameter behind. Then you're going to apply your light with this two sided tape that's pre-installed and press it into the vehicle.

It comes with some quick connectors on the bottom side that we can attach to our wiring harness and it even comes with an adapter if you have a separate turn signal and breaks on your vehicle, as this one does. Let's go ahead and get you some dimensions of our light. Overall it's about 10 and a quarter inches long. Our width is going to be about 4 and a half inches. It's going to protrude from your vehicle about one inch to the center at the highest point. Now let's go ahead and show you how to install it. We're going to begin our installation, we're going to need to figure out where we want to mount our emblem.

Now let's begin our installation, I've taken some rubbing alcohol and I've wiped off our tailgate to get off any of the built up wax or grime that's on your paint. I've measured to find the center of our tailgate, the center line, in this case it was 31 inches. We've determined the area where we want our light to go, from that we measured down from the top where we're going to mount it, to where we're going to have to drill our hole for our wiring. We're going to take a small drill bit and drill a pilot hole. Now we'll take our quarter inch drill bit and make it a larger hole, to the diameter we need for our wires. Now we'll take a small round file, we're going to clean up the inside and outside edge so we don't have any burrs that can catch on our wiring.

We're going to take a little bit of touch up paint just to cover up our bare metal. It doesn't matter if it matches your truck because it's going to be behind the surface anyway. Just so long as you protect your bare surfaces. Then we're going to take a little bit more rubbing alcohol and just take of the film from our overspray. Be careful not to touch your painted part of your tailgate. Now we can take our wire, I just tape them together to hold them all together. Push it in and we're going to feed it into our tailgate and let it drop down towards the bottom. Now there's a nice piece of shrink tubing around here to help protect your wiring as it goes through your tailgate. We're getting ready to stick it down so we're going to remove our protective film to our two sided tape and we're going to press it in. Being sure to line it up with our mark that we've made on our tailgate for where we want to put it. We'll just start the very top edge to hold it there. We can make sure it's level. Once you're happy with the location of your emblem then we're going to firmly press it against the tailgate. Keep a little bit of pressure on it for a second. Just until we're sure that it's stuck. Now well get ready to fish the wires out the bottom side of the tailgate out of one of the factory holes. Now I've taken the tailgate off and laid it on the table so we can fish out our wire. Now I've taken a piece of airline tubing and I've fished it from the one hole over to the hole at the end of our tailgate where we want our wire to come out at. I can just take our wire, we'll attach it to the end and we'll gently pull it back through. That way our wires going to exit the vehicle on the side and not have it hanging down the middle. Here we have our 4-pole loop. You can use this for an extension, or in our case we're going to use it to separate the wiring from our tailgate that's removable, to our vehicle. We'll take it and we'll just cut it in half. Then we can separate out our wires. Then we can use this as a quick connect by plugging the ends together. So we'll be able to separate our tailgate from our truck when the need arises. We're only going to be using three of the wires on it so we'll go ahead and cut these wires flat at the end. Then we'll strip them back, I'm going to strip back about three quarters of an inch or so, so we can twist these and fold them over, since they are a thinner wire. I'm going to shorten these back a little bit more. We don't need so much length. We're going to strip back our white wire about a quarter of an inch on these. Then we'll do our brown. Then we'll just use the yellow one that we're going to tie into our red, the other two colors are going to match up to what we happen to be using on this vehicle. Now we'll be taking our red butt connector. It's an 18 to 22 gauge by Deka available on our website. Part Number: 05730-5. We'll place them on our wire, grip it. We'll just give them a tug, make sure they're on there nice and tight. Then we're going to match up our colors. This could differ depending on what you're mounting it to for your vehicle. I'm going to take some electrical tape, wrap up our harness. Cover up our butt connectors to help keep moisture and corrosion and dirt out of the inside of our connectors. We'll push that down. We can go to the bottom side of our vehicle and finish our wiring. If your vehicle has separate turn signals and break lights, as ours does. You can use this little converter box and we're going to tie the green wire into the green for the right hand side of our vehicle turn signal, and the yellow for the left hand side. Then the red wire is going to go to the wire that comes out of the back of our light. We'll go ahead and strip these wires back, it only leaves about a half inch on all three because they're small wires. Then we have some wires from another accessory that's on this vehicle that we're just going to tie into. We're going to clip the yellow wire, we'll strip it back. We're going to take our yellow wire out of our converter box. We'll twist those two together and we'll install one of our butt connectors and we'll crimp that together. We'll take our other half of our yellow wire that we cut and strip it back and we're going to fold it over just to make it a little bit thicker and well put that on the other half of our yellow wires and we will crimp that one. Now we'll do the same with our green wire. Now our red wire is going to go up to the top. We're going to place that into our plug that we have as the quick connect. Now we can install the other part of our plug. We're going to strip these back about a quarter of an inch. We're only using three of them. We did not use the green on the other side so we won't be using it on this side. Install our butt connectors onto our wires. Now that we have all those on there snugly we're going to take our red wire that we stripped back about a half inch and we'll fold this one over. We're going to put that to the yellow that we ran on the other side that was attached to our red wire. We'll crimp that. We're going to tie into our brown wire here. That's going to be for our tail lights. We're just going to cut this one here coming out of this harness and strip it back. We'll take those two pieces of brown wire that we stripped back, twist them together. We'll insert that into the brown wire from our plug, crimp it, give it a tug. Then we just need to tie into our ground wire which is going to be right here. We'll do the same thing, we'll twist those together, we'll crimp that to the white wire from our plug. Now we're ready to plug in our wire to our quick connect. We'll just match it up, snap it together and we'll tie up all of our wires and clean up our install. Now we're going to take some electrical tape before we zip tie everything up and we'll just cover up all of our butt connectors to help seal out any moisture or dirt that can get into our wiring, and help prevent corrosion. Then we'll take some zip ties, we'll tie everything up. We'll trim off our excess and we can test our light. When we turn on our tail lights you'll see it illuminate and that's going to do it for our look at and install of the Reese Chevrolet Bowtie LED Lighted Vehicle Emblem. Part Number: RP86618 on our 2002 Chevrolet Silverado.

Installed on 2013 Avalanche. Came complete with everything needed. Cable was too short to exit out of tailgate...had to extend it. So far, very pleased. 651054

Well...you get what you pay for! This is not going to be anything like the LED illuminated emblems that the dealer sells for $250+. However it is of decent quality and is a bit smaller than the original emblem. It is basically a 3rd brake light. As for etrailer's side of the deal...very quick service. The unit I received seems as tho it was quite old by the old leaky batteries in the demo test module. But it was ok. 454762

I am very dissatisfied only half of the light works on running lights and the other half on break lights. It looks stupid with only half a light. 447307

Good product. Accurate description. Easy installation. I have a 2017 Silverado and was a lil nervous on trying to install once I knew I had to drill a hole for cables. And once I saw that the embelem does not match exactly with the oem but decided to install anyway and don't regret at all looks very clean.. 415456

Bow tie is as advertised. It's intended use is as a third brake light. I used it in a much different way. I replaced my grill bow tie with this and wired it into the puddle lamps. It works very well, lights up when I arm or disarm the truck and also when I open the doors. I have gotten a lot of comments and looks. It even looks good not illuminated and just black. I had to adhere it to a small piece of stainless steel that I mounted in the original bow ties location. It shows up a lot better at night. 398553

I kind was a little apprehensive about this Bow Tie because of the price. Compared to others available it was pretty low in price. Wrong. I am still having a little difficulty at the quality of this emblem. It goes way beyond what I was hoping for. This is one of the best bargains out there. Very pleased, easy installation and looks great. What a great low cost add on. Thanks 370807
