Hello, everybody, Clayton here at etrailer.com. Here at etrailer, we install, test and review a lot of different products, to help you as a customer, make a more educated decision, for your purchase. Today, we are gonna be working on a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. We're gonna be taking a look at, and I'll be showing you how to install DeeZee's NXt running boards. If you did prefer the chrome look, we do have a set of those here at etrailer, that'll fit your Silverado, no problem. Adding running boards to your truck, are gonna be a huge upgrade.
They definitely look pretty nice on here. I like the way they look, but you are gonna get a lot of benefits by adding running boards. Not only is this gonna provide a bigger stepping surface to get into your truck, or just a little bit lower area to step up into your truck, but my personal favorite feature, is they actually protect the body from rock chips. When you have aggressive tires like we have here, those tend to kick up rocks and then anything that's gonna miss that mud flap, it'll hit the bottom of your running board, protecting your paint. As I said, we are gonna have a pretty big stepping surface here.
Our actual stepping surface is gonna be six inches. So that's gonna be plenty to get at least half of your foot on here, to help you get up into your truck. Now, what I really like are these rubber grommets for some added grip. It adds a little bit of rugged look to it, while also giving us a good stepping surface, when it's raining. These are gonna be aluminum construction.
It's gonna be nice and strong, but also light when you're installing them. And you're not gonna have to worry about corrosion. We are gonna have a really nice wrinkle black powder coat finish. This is not only gonna look nice and rugged, but it's also gonna protect our running board from rock chips and any corrosion. We are gonna have tapered ends on both sides.
I really like the way these look, it gives it a nice sporty look and it flows with the body lines of our truck very well. So like I said, we're gonna have that nice sleek look, it sticks really nice and tight up to our truck. All of our brackets are gonna be custom fit for our Silverado. So it's gonna be a pretty simple bolt-on installation. We are gonna have a 350 pound weight capacity for our running boards. As you can see, that's gonna be plenty. It's gonna be nice and secure, whenever our friends wanna hop out of the back of our truck. And in terms of installation, this is definitely something, you're gonna be able to do at home. Personally, these are the easiest running boards I've ever installed. It's definitely a no-drill application. Like I said, it's something you can definitely do at home. But that being said, I'll walk you through the installation now. To start our installation, we're gonna be working on the passenger side of our truck. We're gonna come underneath our truck here. There's gonna be some caps on the inside of our body. Along this unibody here, you're gonna see these plastic caps I was talking about. We're gonna start off with removing the rearmost one. There are a couple of different ways to do it. I'm just gonna take a pick tool, trying to get underneath that plastic and pull that plug out. We're gonna be removing the one on the bottom and the one on the top. With those removed, we can then grab our bracket and our hardware. We're just gonna line that bracket up with the hole. Then we can thread in our hardware. We're just gonna do a couple threads for now, that way the brackets can support itself. We just wanna push up on that all the way and then run it down to hand-tight. We're not gonna tighten everything down until we get our running boards on. We're then gonna move up our unibody, and we're gonna have our chassis mount right here. We're gonna be using the hole closest to that. We're gonna do that same process, prying out on these plugs. With our caps off, we'll just lift that bracket up, and we start our hardware in the same orientation. We're gonna move all the way up our frame rail, to our first mounting location. And yeah, same process for removing our caps and adding our brackets. Now we wanna grab our running boards. We're just gonna take our plastic paper off that holds those bolts in place, and then slide to the other side, and do the same thing. Now these running boards are pretty light, so you won't, probably won't need an extra set of hands to help you lift them. We'll just spread these out for now. Try to get them as close to aligned with our bracket as possible, before we lift it into place. Now we just wanna lift our running board into place. We'll try to align those T-bolts with the holes in our bracket. We can now grab our provided flange nuts. We'll just get those started on our T-bolts. We're now gonna to come back with a 13 millimeter socket, and tighten down our hardware going into our unibody. When we're doing this, we wanna make sure our bracket is nice and straight, before we get that snug all the way down. We'll repeat that for our two remaining brackets. With our bracket snug down, we're ready to come back and tighten down the hardware, to completely fasten our running boards down. Now what you wanna do, is you wanna slide your running boards around, towards nice and square to your liking, with the back end upfront of your cab. Right here is a pretty good spot. We'll then move upfront and make sure, it has a similar gap. And it is pretty close to the same, so this looks pretty good. What we're gonna do is pull our running boards out on this bracket all the way. As you can see, they slide forward and backward. So we'll pull these out all the way, and then tighten down our flange nuts with a 13 millimeter socket. With everything snug down, we're now ready to come back and give it our final tighten. Now you don't want to overtighten these, 'cause it is going into aluminum, but just give it a couple of turns towards nice and snug. With our running board installed on our passenger side, we're now gonna repeat that same process, over on our driver's side. And that's gonna do it for our look at, in our installation of DeeZee's NXt running boards on our 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500..

These cab-length aluminum running boards have stylish tapered ends and sit close to your vehicle for a streamlined look. Install was around an hour
It was simple nut and bolt installation, easy to adjust so they were placed in the same position on each side. I think I spent more time cutting up the cardboard boxes so they fit in the recycle bin than I spent installing the running boards... This was a gift for my wife, she is very pleased with how they look and work on her truck.
I am so far very happy with my purchase. I still have to install them. I am going to have to augment an existing bracket for another vehicle as my 1996 Toyota Landcruiser J90 Prado is not supported by anyone. I will get this done. Thank you.
Great quality. I particularly like their width, which is enough to stand on, but not too wide that would rub against the sidewalk.
The product is excellent and installation was without incident. The only issue encountered was the wrong directions were paxkee into the box with the right parts. Since this was drop shipped from DeeZee, etrailer wasn’t at fault.
It fit perfectly and the installation was easily done. Great quality.
They look great they were easy to install all in all a good product
I received the DeeZee NXT running Boards on Scheduled March 3, 2018. I install Right away into my 2018 Chevloret Colorado. Using ratchet wrench and a socket. it took me 10 minutes to install everything. Thanks etrailer.com
still looking good on my truck thank you for asking.
I recently had some body and paint work completed on my 2011 Ford F-150 regular cab. We installed these new Dee Zee NXT running boards that I ordered from etrailer.com. They look nice on the truck and seem to be well constructed.
These tuck close to body but don't rub. nice wide foot print for standing on, and were an easy 75 minute install.
Called customer support at DZ to get specifics on Deezee NXt nerf bars before ordering. Sounded like what I wanted so I bought them. When product arrived, installation instructions were close to worthless. Figured it out anyway, installed running boards and found they were NOT as described by Customer Support. Called DZ to explain that I was misled and inquire about returning them and was told I couldn't be returned because I had installed them. Wrote up a crappy review of the product and DZ service. Then, and only then, DZ relented and let me return them for a full refund. Odd that DZ would write me to ask for another review since the experience was disappointing.
Quality of the running boards is good. I quickly learned that the design needs improvement. You cannot use it properly. Not enough clearance between truck and running board. It forces you to turn foot parrellel to step on or off. I wear boots and steel toe shoes in size 12. My daughter hates them. If I could return them I probably would.
Looks great. Easy to install. I watched the[online] video on the install and it was super helpful
Easy install great product!
Very easy install and looks great. Suggestion for regular and super-cab installs that don't use the middle bracket - remove end cap and remove one T-bolt in each channel and reinstall end cap.
My step board order for my Colorado arrived in less than a week. Installation took less than one hour. I like the way they look on my truck , and will do business with etrailer again.
Really easy to install. Fit great on 2022 chevy 2500
They look really nice, I haven't installed them yet, but I am sure they will look great on my truck.
Still holding up great. Best investment I made for my truck
Goof product and excellent service
