Video Transcript for Aries Big Step Nerf Bars Installation - 2017 Ford F-150

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford F150, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Aries Big Step Nerf Bars, part number AAAL233043.So here's what our Aries Big Step Nerf Bars look like once we have 'em installed on our F150. The long pad here is gonna make sure that we have a secure footing when we're getting in our truck, or when we're getting out. It's gonna measure a total about 23 and 1/2 inches long and four inches wide. The tread design on our step is gonna make sure that we aren't slipping even in wet conditions, and the material it's made out of is gonna make sure that it's not gonna fade or crack over time. The bars themselves are gonna be a round design, they're gonna be four inches in diameter, and they are gonna be made of aluminum with a nice powder coat finish tone, so they are gonna be rust resistant.Unlike a lot of tube steps, it's not just gonna be a simple black, it's gonna have this crackled look to it, giving it a rugged look. The ends of the bars are gonna curve in slightly, giving it that finished look to it, and the end caps are gonna be welded in place, so we won't have to worry about dirt or debris getting inside the tube. Our steps are gonna come with a custom installation kit for our F150, and it's not gonna require any kind of drilling, cutting, or anything like that. To be honest with you, these are some of the easiest steps that I've put on so far. Now, that's we've seen what our steps look like and going over some of the features, let's show you how to get 'em installed.

To begin our installation, if we come to the inside edge of the body here, you'll notice that we're gonna have several studs that are going along the edge. Towards the back, we'll have two on the bottom, and one up top, and if we move farther forward, we'll see we're gonna have two more sets of those studs, one in the middle, and then on towards the very front of the cab.In our kit, you're gonna wanna grab the plastic nylon little washer, just a little square with a hole in it, and we're gonna take, and we're gonna put it over the studs that are on the body here. This is gonna be a very important step because the body is aluminum, and our brackets are gonna be steel, and we don't want any kind of corrosion building up from those two different metals contacting each other. So we're gonna go around, and we're gonna put these nylon washers on each one of the studs on the front, the middle, and the back.So with all those nylon washers in place, we can grab one of our brackets. Now, all the brackets are gonna be the same 'cause of the universal design of 'em.

We're gonna wanna make sure that that loop is pointing away from the vehicle, and that rounded section is pointing up. So when we have the bracket, we can just lift it up, we're gonna line up the holes on the studs. We're just going to loosely hold it in place, we're gonna take a flat washer, and a lock nut and right now, we're just gonna get them on there, hand tight, so the bracket will hold itself up, while we get the rest of the hardware in place. We're gonna repeat that same process for the other two locations with the three studs on the edge of the body here. Now, we're gonna wanna come back with a 13 millimeter socket, and we're just gonna wanna loosely snug up our hardware. If it's too snug to where you can't move the bracket at all, just wanna back those nuts off just a little bit, so the bracket's pretty sturdy, but we still have a little bit of movement in them, so we can make any kind of adjustments.

So we'll repeat that for the other two brackets. At this point, we can grab our side step. Now there is a left and a right, and if we look at it, the rear pad, if we look at the bar, at the rear section, the pad is gonna be closer to the end of it than the front is. It is gonna be a little bit hard to tell 'cause it's not a drastic difference, but like I said, the rear pad here is gonna be closer to the very back of the bar.Once you have the right one, we're just gonna loosely put this in place, and you're gonna wanna look underneath and make sure that the holes in your bar line up with the bracket, that's why we went ahead and left them loose, so we can move them if we need to. But I would suggest just getting that center one lined up, and then taking the included bolts that have the lock washers and flat washers pre-installed, and then we're gonna hand thread 'em in. There's gonna be a bolt towards the outside, and then on the inside, we're gonna have another one that's gonna be towards the center of our truck.

We'll get those two bolts in, make sure our steps aren't gonna fall down, then we can line up the other brackets, make sure those holes line up, and put the rest of the hardware in place. Now you can see that that front bracket doesn't line up with the hole on our step, but that's why we left 'em loose. We're gonna go ahead and slide that bracket back a little bit, and then I'll make it to where our bolts can go through the bracket into our step.At this point we'll wanna check the level of our steps. I don't mean the level front to back, what I'm talking about is the actual pad because right now we're still able to rotate it, so we wanna make sure that we're not gonna be sliding off our steps and having it too extreme of an angle. So I'm gonna place a level on it, and then just rotate my steps until I can get it pretty close to level, and then we'll go and check the front, make sure it's level as well, then we can tighten up all of our hardware.Once we have our steps where we want 'em, come back with that 13 millimeter socket, and we're gonna tighten up all of our hardware. When we go to tighten up the bolts in our steps, you don't wanna over tighten these and really crank on 'em. You just wanna get 'em nice and snug 'cause we don't wanna break the bolt off in the step itself. We'll make sure we snug up all the rest of our hardware. That'll finish up your lool at the Aries Big Step Nerf Bars, part number AAAL233043 on our 2017 Ford F150.

We have just passed the one year mark with this product and the drivers side plastic step just broke off. There are several Molded push pin type fasteners that push into the step tube to hold the plastic step pad in place. 515982
