Video Transcript for Snap-Loc Loop Strap with S-Hook Review

What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out the Loop Straps from Snap-Loc. They're gonna be great for, like, we're having used today. We've got them on the handlebars of our motorcycle to tie them down to the carrier, that way it stays put when I'm going down the road. Let's check them out. You see, this is the loop end, so this is gonna be perfect for going around those handle bars.

The strap is gonna be four feet long, you can see, it's gonna be an inch wide. As we come down here, we've got the cam buckle. And on this end, it's gonna help you be able to pull up that extra strap and get it nice and tight so it holds it well. We come down here, we have the strap saber here that wraps 'round, ties up that extra strap that you're not using. Then we have the S hook down here that's gonna be used to make that connection to make sure that it has something to pull against to pull it nice and tight.

These straps are gonna come in a quantity of one. So if you want to tie down both sides of your handlebars, as you should, you're gonna have to buy two of them. They're gonna have a 500 pound safe working load limit, and that's per strap. So if you use two of them, you add that together. And then it's gonna have a break strength of 1500 pounds per strap.

Lets go over how it works. Gonna put the loop around the handlebar. and we'll come down here with the S hook, put it through the eyelet. And then since it's a cam buckle, you can just pull up on the extra strap and try and get it nice and tight. Now, one problem with the cam buckle strap is I don't feel I can get it super tight, no matter how hard I pull on it, there's still a little bit of slack left in the strap itself, but that can actually kind of be a good thing.

I'm comparing it to a ratchet strap where you can ratchet that down, get it really tight. There's the dangerous side with that though, is 'cause you don't want to pull down on these springs too much, so with two ratchet straps, you tighten it down, that's a, you compress that. And that's gonna cause damage down the line on your bike and you don't want that to happen, so the cam buckle straps just can't get super tight, but that's good, 'cause it kind of saves it up front. A nice middle ground between the cam buckle straps and the ratchet straps are gonna be the Erickson motorcycle straps. And how these are a little bit different is these have a lever in them. So I can pull this tight, as tight as I can kind of like the cam buckle straps, but this one, those straps wrapped around there, so as I push down on this, it gets it just a little bit tighter, snaps into place. and you can see you can't endlessly tighten it down like a ratchet strap, and it's not as loose as the cam buckle strap. So it's right in that sweet spot in the middle. Overall, I think these loop straps are gonna be a good thing to have. I like that the loop protects the handles when they're attached to it, so you don't have to worry about it scratching anything or attaching a hook anywhere up there, at the top. The only downside is you can't get them super tight. Now some people just use ratchet straps for that. And that's their solution. The problem with that though is that it gets pulled down so tight it puts all that pressure on the springs here, and that's not good for your bike. So something to kind of help out in between there would be to use a block. You could put one of those, a lot of people around the shop that have motorcycles do that when they transport it, you put a block in there, when you go to tighten it down and it just keeps the suspension from traveling, which means it's not gonna loosen these up as you're going down the road, hitting every bump. Overall though, I think they're gonna be great to keep your motorcycle tied down to the rack and that way we get on the road. Well, thanks for hanging out, and I hope this helped..
